The way things were (8)
001-060 More time passes at the beginning of the New Year, and Boomer passes his last hurdles. Now he is healed, and decided to immediately head off to visit Dee and the rest. He makes it to her house and greets everyone and holds his daughter for the first time. He and Dee make up for lost time as they bang the night away in typical Ardais fashion. (bare back anal and whips and chains?) Dee says she will speak with her Fathers Keeper about “using their Tower in the Over world” for easier transport when they travel.
Dee gets approval so they all gather their stuff and transcend to the Over world, portal to Aldaran Tower, then portal to Wolverine Tower, then descend back home. Then they return to the Eagles Nest, where Boomer spends time checking up on all his email – ignoring the random ones from Damos and noting the ones from the Countess about Elaina for later inspection. He sets up a bed in the master suite for Kira and sets about making plans for rearranging the Eagles Nest floor plan because of new needs.
061-064 Boomer and Dee take baby Rosza to the Bridge to have her psi imprint entered into the computer- only to discover it is already in there as Kira. Boomer decides to go have a lengthy talk with Devon over medical matters, as well as getting his implants checked out.
Meanwhile, Bull talks with Lady Margaret about her role in the rebellion, and learns that out of the whole rebellion only three factions have survived – her, Dulinor and Lucian. The other two are harassing her because she is gaining popularity and she finds her Generals are a hindrance to her war efforts. She acknowledges Bulls superb role in helping her from out in the Spinward Marches, but now she asks him if he can come to join her as she lays plans on sweeping the rebellion away and solidifying the Empire once again. He agrees to grab Boomer and come to her.
After all is said and done Boomer gets Devon, Dee and Rosza, along with Kira, and they go to the Columbus for further investigation. Devon does her best, and in the end Kira forms a mental link with Boomer and reveals all. She is Rosza Gwennifer Victorianna Sagara from the future and she is about 115 years old. She explains the horrific details of her life and how/why she came back in time across the dimensions to save Dee and Boomer. Boomer is stunned, but he calls everyone to a meeting where he reveals all. Bull reveals he also has plans for him and Boomer to go to Lady Margaret, which lends credence into Kira’s story and further rocks Boomers mind. Boomer decides that he has to save everyone in his family, and S&S Salvage, as he can – plus Planetoid Wolverine if at all possible. Kira offers the parts from her ship, if they can find a dedicated Engineer, to join them with Planetoid Wolverine so it can be saved. Bull contacts Mr Kelzar and asks him to contact Senator Keigaro and Admiral Norris to set up plans for the upcoming invasion.
Then everyone starts packing things up for mass evacuation, plus notifying all the inhabitants to do the same. Boomer checks up with his family and tells them they got to go. He convinces his Mother she is going on a cruise, and kind of convinces Magda of the same. He tells Mary Kei she and her kids might be going on an archaeological dig for the present. Damos contacts Boomer and delicately tries to offer a partnership with him again, but hints he could settle for a Cybot if he bides him time. Boomer ignores him and returns home to continue packing.
065 Kira goes to Glisten and retrieves her ship, the DART, and brigs it back to Wolverine where she gives Boomer the grand tour. Bull agrees to make Rabbit psychic again so he can use the red suit to examine Wolverines engines and possibly consider adding parts from DART. Boomer sends Yuri and the girls to Glisten to retrieve the family and bring them back. Kira helps Rabbit work on the engines, but the duo discover that Wolverine has no Jump capable engines to mingle the parts with so that idea is out. Boomer continues to pack and prepare for departure.
066-071 Next day, Boomer talks with Bull and they debate on delaying the trip to see Lady Margaret for just a bit, until the Fleet arrives. Bull agrees, but makes it clear he doesn’t want to wait forever. Dee points out to Boomer he has no sons, and she wants a son. Boomer points out he has one, far away, and suggests letting Devon and science aid them, but Dee doesn’t like that idea. So he agrees to just keep trying naturally.
Boomer contacts Rachet and Haruhi and sets them to copying and wiping the Bridge files. He explains the coming Cybots to any and all as a reason for this precaution. The Bridge accepts this idea, so Boomer goes to aid the two in their efforts. Boomer also takes the time to contact Chef Domo and advise him he should “take a vacation and get out of the Glisten system” for a bit.
Boomer learns much about the Ancients nanobots and discusses setting up possible weather related defenses on the Planetoid. The Bridge agrees there is a possible way that could work, but lacks the necessary programming to do so. Boomer offers Haruhi the chance to “sit in the learning chair” and learn the Ancients brand of programming. She agrees, despite the previously failed attempt by Rachet to learn to read Ancient, however she does so and, in conjunction with her computer skills, she sets up the defenses utilizing lightning, wind and rain. Boomer takes over backing up the Bridge files while she handles other programming.
Days of preparation pass and progress on the various programming tasks take shape. Boomer amuses himself by playing with the baby, and helping the duo on the Bridge as well. Boomer asks Mr. Kelzar about the whereabouts of Damos, and when told he asks for a tour of BR549 on the other side of the Glisten system. The tour goes off without a hitch, and Boomer decides the facility is secure, but not as much as he had hoped. Damos is intrigued that Boomer is in the area, and talks with him for a bit.
072-081 Wake to find the sensors notifying all that the Imperial Fleet has shown up in the system, and it is huge. They begin to deploy, but not long later the Cybot Fleet shows up and begin their attack on Glisten. Boomer has everyone go to the Compound, except Dee, Kira, Rosza, Yuri, Keiko and Haruhi. He wants them to take the “normal’s” to the Overworld, but for some reason it doesn’t work. Therefore Boomer has everyone come with him to the Compound. Boomer and Bull go to the Bridge and search for and locate the Engineering Core. Bull has an idea, and supercharges Boomer so he can teleport them both inside the core. He does so in a flash and drops off Bull, then contacts Yuri to check on things.
Bull takes tons of damage, but his shields hold, somewhat, so he touches the Core and supercharges/ awakens the Planetoid with the aid of Fate. He manages to activate the Ancients technology within the psionic structure of the ship and creates an A/H Drive within it. Meanwhile, a Cybot Strike Team is overrunning the main Compound, and Boomer relives the memories Kira described to him – so he returns and discovers the Mercs are holding off the Cybots, but during the encounter the Cybots drop Keiko. Yuri and Haruhi have a fit and freak, so Boomer provides cover fire and has them get Dee, Rosza and Kira then go find the Shifter and get Keiko to safety.
Boomer gets a mind shout from Bull calling for help. Boomer manages to get to the Core, and rescues Bull, then works their way to the Sickbay. There, Boomer finds out from the ships computer he has to give Bull a psychic transfer, which will drain him and knock him out. Boomer contacts Yuri and gives his current location and puts has the Bridge put her in command. She moves the Planetoid out across the system and parks it near BR549. Boomer gives Bull the transfer, and drops, soYuri brings Red Alert to aid her working on the two.
9 days later, Bull and Boomer wake up from their encounter somewhat healed and somewhat charged. They call for Yuri and learn the report about how the Imperial Fleet managed to defeat the Cybots and what all happened, including the Cybots left orbiting the empty space where the Planetoid use to be. The Fleet tracked them down and wiped them out. Bull contacts Mr. Kelzar and arranges a meeting with Lady Margaret and Archduke Norris and has a massive conference with them all about future plans and possible alliances. Norris and Margaret agree to a common cause, and Bull moves one step closer to his fulfilling his plans.
082-085 News reports fill the nightime holovision shows, part about the Rebellion and part about the Cybot attack at Glisten and how the Empire won it. Everyone rests as Bull and Boomer make plans for their trip to see Lady Margaret. Bull and Sam discuss having children. Boomer finds out his Mother’s and Magda’s homes survived destruction during the occupation, but Mary Kei’s didn’t. Haruhi receives a new title S&S Salvage Computer Specialist plus a corresponding pay raise, but Boomer cautions her not to do anything stupid with the computer – and not to brag to the others.
Boomer checks on the fuel status between the Planetoid and the Columbus and finds that they are close to running low – allowing only the trip to and from Lady Margaret’s. Boomer searches the Planetoid Bridge computer and locates a series of old fuel depots they might be able to hit up along the way, the closest being Deneb. Bull suggests going and getting some fuel before thy go, and Boomer remembers Juni Volsang from the University of Regina has a device with which to locate Ancient Sites. They decide to go enlist her aid on the way to Deneb. They prepare the Esmareldus for a trip, and Boomer makes a huge donation to the Glisten relief fund. Boomer settles on himself, Bull, Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Elaina, Silverbolt, Red Alert, Air Raid and Rabbit for the crew. Dee leaves Rosza Gwenn in the capable hands of Kira at the Eagles Nest. On the way he decides he will be instructing the Girls in various methods of ship operation. Boomer contacts Juni and lays out their offer and plan to her. She agrees and will meet them at the Starport.
085-091 [Extra Jump]
Arrive with no surprises and refuel – using the easy, Scout base method.
093-099 [Extra Jump]
Arrive with no surprises again and refuel. While that is going on they meet Juni at the Starport and load her stuff. Then with that all done, they depart.
102-108 [Extra Jump]
Arrive among the Fleet with no problem. They refuel and move on.
110-116 [Extra Jump]
Arrive without any fuss and set about refueling. Then they move on.
118-114 [Extra Jump]
Arrive and enter orbit, obtaining reservations at the local TAS. Then they take the Cutter down and settle in before moving out to start flitting about, scanning with Juni’s device, until they come upon some fairly promising signals. Settling down and allows them to search up close and personal, eventually finding the mechanism to the entrance. They encounter an arm trap, and Boomer almost gets his head blown off a few times before Bull finally rips the mechanism out of the wall. Boomer contacts the Esmaraldus and has someone bring the Air Raft with some C4 and the Red Suit to them. They do so, so he he finally administers the old demolition answer to the problem and they gain entrance.
127-129 The group enters the opening, and Juni comments that the readings are off her machines scale. Find a lift and descend down into base. Find large room with multiple doors, plus one big one that activates when Boomer gets too close to it. They come up with a plan and Boomer has Yuri scan the room with her clairvoyance, only to find it is full of bots. Boomer teleports into the room, planning to do as much damage as possible, only to find the whole room is deactivated. Try as he might he can’t get back out until he calls upon Fate to aid him, and then they check out the other big door only to find the room behind it is full of crates being moved by lifter-bots, but deactivated in mid motion. Dee takes Keiko and rides the lift further down see what’s there, and discover a whole other level with the fuel rods and rooms galore. She spies another pair of lifts nearby and inspects one of them, activating it. This allows Boomer and the rest to descend to join the duo in exploring the rooms and spaces on this level.
They find a Control Room with barely active computers that, when deciphered, tell of how the Ancient Military found something interesting and brought it to the Depot for storage, and it went amok. So they had to shut everything down and abandon the site. They also find a Shifter Control room where they can activate the lifts to shift the fuel rods to the surface, plus a Power Control Room where they can restore the power to the Depot. Boomer has Haruhi try to find out how to turn on the power but shut down the Warbots, but she experiences such problems that finally she call upon Fate to help her succeed. She only finds a way to deactivate the Warbots, physically, and then how to restore power. Bull and Boomer find some tools and, with Rabbit’s aid, Boomer teaches everyone the rudiments of disabling the Warbots. Then they break up into 5 teams so they can make way to deactivate the Warbots and take their power crystals out of them one at a time.
This takes forever. Elaina, Dara and Haruhi return to the surface to retrieve some MRE’s, water and flashlights for the group to use during their stay, and return to report some Hover-bots were circling the Cutter. Once the deactivation of the Warbots is done, they go check the room of crates, looking for more Warbots. They find what the Ancients found, an Assassin-bot, and make plans to shut it down. Bull tries to Slumber it, but it fights it off, reawakens, and blasts Rabbit dropping him. Bull hits it with Slumber again, and Boomer tries to approach it and deactivate it but it reawakens again and blasts him. Bull Slumbers it once more, and Boomer manages to stagger up and remove its power crystal. Air Raid checks out Boomer and Rabbit while Haruhi turns on the power for the Depot. Dee, Keiko and Boomer set off to make it back to the ship, dragging Rabbit along with them, and come upon the Hover-bots guarding the Cutter. Boomer teleports inside, barely, and opensthe door for the rest to wrestle Rabbit inside, They make it inside and head off, but realize they will endanger the ship if they take the Hover-bots there, so they call for Bull and go back to the Depot. Bull come out and manages to destroy the Hover-bots, so the group return to the ship, dock, and get Red Alert to working on Boomer and Rabbit. Dee get’s Silverbolt to fly the Ship to the Depot and land it, where they contact the rest and manage to load some fuel rods onto the ship and prepare to head for home. Bull points out to Juni that her career is pretty much over if she decides to publish her findings, or about them, so in compensation he and Boomer offer her a spot n the S&S Salvage team. Boomer further points out that Mr Kelzar of SuSAG agreed to hire her also if she came back. She agrees, and the ship leaves.
130-136 [Extra Jump]
Refuel and pass on thru the system.
138-144 [Extra Jump]
They arrive home 2 weeks before Yuri’s birthday and 3 weeks before the yearly Anagathic treatment. They have enough fuel rods to enable the Columbus to return to Deneb on the way to Lady Margaret’s and refuel fully, plus bring some back for Planetoid Wolverine to boot.
146-150 Studd introduces a Merc he hired for S&S Salvage to the others for their approval. Boomer and Bull look him over and Bull gives him the code name Breakneck. They introduce him to the rest of the Planetoid gang and give him a intro on how things work. Dee and Boomer have a lengthy discussion on what to do with Rosza, and to some extent Kira, concerning their trip to Abraxis. They come to a definite decision and switch topics to how to construct a Tower, and how to possibly recruit a Keeper. Boomer files this info away for future need and the next day he contacts Mr. Kelzar and talks with him about Juni Volsang. He mentions Mr. Kelzar could subcontract her from S&S Salvage and therefore have an expert Archaeologist on staff. Mr. Kelzar agrees and offers to set her up with a nice employee house on Glisten. When he returns to Wolverine, Boomer has the Varger get ready to work on remodeling the Eagles Nest as per his plans while they are away. Boomer then contacts his lawyer and arranges for a paternity DNA test on Kira then add her to his will. All is agreed upon and set in motion, with papers being sent for his signature and a swab collection taken by Devon returned to Glisten.
The Columbus crew is decided upon, being Boomer, Dee, Kira, (Rosza) Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Elaina, Bull, Samantha, Silverbolt, Devon, Red Alert, Air Raid and Flint. The Columbus is stocked and everyone packs their gear, which fills the hold, and they are off.
151-152 [A/H Drive]
Just a day away they arrive at Deneb and settle into a landing position near to the depot. Bull and Boomer take a necessary team and work on refueling the Columbus. It takes a couple of days but they max out the fuel tanks and even carry some spares in the hold for later. Once finished, they set off for the Core of the Imperium.
156-162 [A/H Drive]
After a week, during which Elanie teaches Noble Protocol and Society Hobnobbing, they arrive in the Heart of the Imperium. Silverbolt drops out of A/H Drive just outside the system and heads inward normally. Fortunately, as it was, because they almost immediately trip a sensor grid guarding the perimeter of the system. They are noticed, and Silverbolt relays their ID and mission to meet Lady Margaret. They are cleared for entry on a certain vector and allowed to proceed. As they proceed, they first pass a collection of massive Warships, then further in a collection of tankers and cargo ships, then further in a collection of commercial, private ships and Inquisition ships, then finally a series of starports both commercial and military. They pass by the military one, lousy with Inquisition ships, and dock at the main commercial one, They are treated to a display of Abraxis and all her cities lights. They contact and arrange a meeting with Lady Margaret, who invites them to dinner in a couple of nights. She will send someone to pick them up. Bull pulls Sam, Boomer and Dee aside and want them to go out shopping for some bad-azz fancy clothes. Boomer begs off, but suggests Dee take the Girls with her and Sam, especially Elaina. The list is drawn up, the Girls retrieved, and the gang heads off. Hours later they return with a stunning collection of outfits, and even some accessories for Bull and Boomer.
That evening Dee and Boomer share some Dusk while sitting on the Bridge when Boomer thinks Dee has died, then the Bridge starts shutting down, then he runs thru the ship shouting for help but can’t find anyone and then – pow – something stops him. He “wakes” to find everyone hovering over him and Devon next to him. Apparently he was having a Warp Madness attack and Devon had to clock him to snap him out of it. Bull shows up disheveled and admits he just had one too, but he fought it off on his own but he pulls Boomer to the side and they have a lengthy discussion about it and what to do.
The time to meet Lady Margaret arrives so they all dress up to the nines and are met by a limo. It takes them to a mansion where the butler, Barneby, takes them in and (with lengthy and grand pomp and circumstances) introduces them to the party. Everyone’s title, rank and name is given in order to the seated room, and in turn they meet Lady Margaret, her husband Count Blaine Tukera, their daughter Lady Violessa and High Inquisitor Lukas. Bull immediately dislikes Lukas but they take their seats and dinner is served. Idle conversation is handled around the table, with Bull asking Lady Margaret what Lukas is doing here? She explains he is a valued piece on her chess board and a necessary ally in her efforts to fix the Imperium. Speaking of which, she explains she recently came in the possession of a squadron of Warships that, upon inspection, lack the necessary parts that would allow her to upgrade them. Could Bull retrieve the parts? It would require traveling thru a section of the Imperium far from Abraxis where the Varger corsairs roam, to a special Depot near Vland, which is in the Vilani Empire and might be in the hands of any one of four hands at the moment. They would have to find the parts and make it back, with no guarantee the parts will be there. She would provide ample expenses and supplies to aid them if needed. Bull excuses himself and Sam to the bathroom and suggests Boomer come as well. Boomer brings Dee, and the four of them are shown to a guests lounge where the girls wait as Bull and Boomer step off and discuss the situation. Bull tells Boomer he is going to have to step up and be the noble diplomat here because he cant stand the High Inquisitor Lukas and doesn’t think working with him will be a good idea. Haruhi txts Boomer and warns him Lukas left the table also. They finish their conversation and rejoin the ladies to return eventually to the table. Lukas is back also and Boomer tells Lady Margaret they agree and will retrieve her parts, if they can. She is delighted, and tells them they are officially part of her Council now, and she will provide them and their people with houses and estates benefiting their rank and services. The meal winds down with further talk and desserts until finally they all rise, bid their farewells, and depart.
Back on the ship and into some rest, Boomer is troubled by an odd dream – possibly another Warp-madness influenced dream. In it he searches about trying to assemble a weapon, only to maddeningly come up one piece short. Try as he might he cannot locate the one piece necessary and awakens with an odd sense that the dream was some sort of foreshadowing about their upcoming mission.
166-169 The gang is separately taken to their estates and shown their house, grounds, and introduced to their staff. Boomer requests Devon come dwell with them instead of on the ship, and she agrees. They meet Sebastian, the Butler, and others of the staff as well. Boomer has Davis, the Chauffeur, take him and the Girls to the Naval Base for their Anagathic treatments. Sebastian accompanies them, but begs off partway thru due to a call from Dee. Yuri and Haruhi have a rough time with the treatment, while Keiko sails thru it unaffected, Dara merely does well. Afterwards, Boomer suggests to the family will to use Casta as a secret language when need be. Sebastian returns before they are all finished, and accompanies Davis while he take them back home. There, they find a huge birthday party set up for all the Girls whereas each birthday is celebrated. Boomer takes this time to ask Dee if she will be his “substitute” in the political dealings should his Warp madness affect him and make him worthless. Dee refuses, claiming she will watch over him and make sure they will deal with any Warp madness if it comes.
Next day Boomer has some servants go out and pick up some equipment he ordered online, and builds a Bug Sweeper. Utilizing his skills, he recon sweeps the whole mansion for bugs, but finds nothing. He asks Devon to return to to the Columbus and research anything concerning their “new” psionic powers and how to control them. He then has Haruhi check over the data-stick with the mission parameters and compile a report before reporting back to him. He also works out the Columbus’s cargo-space problems, with Haruhi’s aid, then Boomer contacts Bull and gives him a heads up concerning what all has been going on and what all is being done. They work out a renewed crew list, and Bull invites him and Dee to come over and see the place – plus he announces Sam is preggers with twins. Boomer congratulates him, and agrees to come by. Boomer decides to blame Tyresian Plague on his “space madness”, if need be, then him and Dee grab Davis and go visit Bull. They arrive at Bulls estate and meet his Butler, Crouse, and are give the grand tour before they settle down to discuss the mission. Dee and Sam wander off to talk, while Bull and Boomer decides his next step should be to go visit Lady Margaret about the missions various details. Boomer sets up an appointment, and returns home to announce Dee, Dara and Elaina would be left behind. Dee utilizes her sneaky logic and worms her way back onto the crew list.
Next day, Boomer goes to meet Lady Margaret. There, he meets with with her and Lord Skylar, an Inquisitor. Boomer immediately dislikes the man, but engages him in small talk while he discusses expenses with Lady Margaret. She give him an open ended cred stick to use as a discretionary fund, but expects receipts and a report back. Boomer agrees and after Lord Skylar leaves the meeting, he explains some of it may have no receipts, like bribes and such. Boomer leaves to report everything back to Bull. Along the way, Boomer offers 10,000 credits to Haruhi for her to try and check Lord Skylar out further if possible. She agrees, but requires a “clean computer” for her to use. He agrees, so she orders one, and gets started.
Next day, Haruhi returns a report of all her findings to Boomer about the Mission, pus Lord Skylar. Seems he is an Enforcer for the Inquisition, and even they don’t like him, but is an extreme bad ass.
170-173 Boomer takes his new findings, plus Haruhi’s reports, and goes to visit Bull again. They discuss the mission, plus Lord Skylar, and cover the various versions of it. Boomer suggests a 2-ship approach to it, since neither he nor Bull want any one else on the Columbus and therefore have to reveal it just yet. They go over the crew roster while Boomer arranges to meet with Lady Margaret again. When he finally receives an audience with her, he explains why they might need a second ship, citing “proprietary safety issues” with the Columbus and such. He fails to convince her of his need, so in the end he has to politely refuse her request to play taxi.
That said, Boomer returns to Bull and they agree to go with the original one ship idea, and assign a skeleton crew of Boomer, Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Silverbolt, Bull, Red Alert and Air Raid. Originally Boomer was going to leave Dee with Dara, Elaina Kira, (Rosza) Samantha, Devon and Flint, but she wormed her way back on. Then they go.
174-177 [A/H Drive]
177-180 VLAND DEPOT
They arrive at the Depot, guns hot, to find it appears to be totally abandoned. Bull and Boomer dress in their Battle Dress before they pick Yuri and Air Raid to go explore. Haruhi is upset, but Boomer tells her she can be of use back on the ship as computer ops and gives her orders to hack into the computer system and find out what happened, plus bring the Depot systems online. Dee agrees to stay and “watch over them”, an announcement the Merc’s find amusing, but say nothing.
The group explore for a while throughout the abandoned Depot/Starport, searching thru a multitude of downed starship hulls and racks of equipment before Boomer repairs a office computer system and, with Haruhi’s aid in restarting the system, manages to locate the parts needed.
It’s at this time that a squadron of Varger Ahz Nak Battlecruisers. pop out of Jump. Bull tells Silverbolt to get the Columbus out of there before they are noticed, so he does. After a brief time, the Varger commence to fire upon the orbiting facility, breaching one part of the hull and causing its orbit to begin degrading. Boomer estimates they only have a couple of hours before they hit atmosphere, so he begins working on correcting their descent. He manages to do so, but this causes the Varger to stop firing on the facility and settle in for a landing. The group barricade themselves in a secure office and watch as the ships disgorge teams of Varger in their version of vacc suits and begin exploring the facility. The group watch them thru the security cameras. Boomer uses his telepathy and hits one of the Varger leaders with visions of an extreme pollen induced rape rage. As he goes off on his pack, Boomer switches idea and just begins psi assaulting the remainder leaders. One by one they drop, until the last one resists, surprisingly. Apparently he is psychic, and now locates where they are hiding so he orders the remaining Varger to get them.
Boomer takes this time to use Yuri’s guidance and teleport to one of the Varger ships. He encounters a mess hall full of pirates, but he escapes and welds the door shut before continuing his search for the bridge. Finally he locates the bridge and takes out the Captain. He claims the leaders rank badge.
Back at the barricaded office where the other wait, the Varger gather to break in. As they attack to door, welded shut by Boomer before blocking it with all manner of debris, and begin to break thru it Bull just steps out and begins laying waste in an attempt to reach the psi one. A big fight occurs, during which the Varger evidences he has some skill as he manages to unhook pieces of Bulls armor and shoot him. Finally the battle is done, and Bull claims the leaders rank badge. Now Bull has the rest of the Varger following him and he joins Boomer in securing the rest of the battlecruisers. Bull contacts the Columbus and calls it back, then he and Boomer begin locating the cargo they need. The Columbus returns and lands, and with everyone’s help they manage to gather and load the necessary cargo in about 5-7 hours.
After all is said and done, Boomer and Bull discuss what to do with the Varger. They decide to return to Wolverine and learn Varger, plus drop off the battlecruisers and swell their ranks before returning to Lady Margaret. They know it will take 4 weeks to return home, but they are fine with this.
They avoid the main space lanes, opting instead to make direct jumps toward probable locations. The Columbus computer can allow this by providing correct coordinates for the jumps. The Columbus also suggests to Boomer that, with some jury rigging and such, some of the Depot junk could be adapted into cheap cloaking devices for the Varger cruisers. Boomer agrees this is a good idea and sets about working on it.
Arrive in system undetected and Boomer takes pains to install the devices, also explaining to the Varger what their plans are. This takes longer than expected, but finally the ships are refueled and the parts installed and they leave.
The ships arrive under cloak and all seems to work out. They quickly refuel and leave.
The ships arrive under cloak and all seems to work out. They quickly refuel and leave.
The ships arrive under cloak and all seems to work out. They quickly refuel sneak into orbit over Wolverine where Bull sets about establishing shore leave and a Varger camp for the newcomers to stay. Bull also contacts Rabbit and advises him he needs to prepare to join them when the time comes to go. Boomer checks out progress on the Eagles Nest before deciding to stay at the Compound for now.
Next day Boomer gathers Bull, Dee, Rabbit, the Girls, Silverbolt, Rachet and Shipwreck and they all go to the Bridge to learn Varger. Bull is first and succeeds, inspiring everyone else to try, as well as succeed, until Rabbit and Boomer. Both of them try but only Fate intervenes to let them Know Varger. Shipwreck fails totally, much to his dismay. Boomer gets the blue crystal from Bull and contacts the FC to talk with Cheri about building a Tower in Abraxis’s Over World. She agrees to think it over and get back to him later. Boomer also online orders a Advanced Bug Detector, then he asks Yuri to agree to be his “Guardian” in case something causes him issues. Later on he has a discussion with the Columbus’s computer about synthesizing more blue crystals, but it tells him no can do and states they are naturally occurring only on certain planets. Come the evening, Boomer contacts Reynard and talks with him about the same stuff he talked with Cheri about, and Reynard agrees to the plan. He suggests making a Marker instead of a whole Tower, and says he will speak with Cheri about the new plan and suggests Boomer contact him again later when he gets back to Abraxis so they can maybe do something.
Next day Boomer is startled awake by the Bridge telling him a lone Cybot Pyramid has just shown up in system and seems to be sending probes out to scan Glisten, looking for something. Remembering Damos’s threat that he would take the next Cybot that came near him, Boomer reluctantly makes a contract with Damos and allows him to posses him. The force of the Demon invades his body and soul, shifting his stats and increasing his psi power exponentially. Boomer gather a team and takes the Columbus out to deal with it. A big starship combat ensues during which the Columbus gets battered a lot and only Rabbit’s skills, plus luck when the spare Ancients fuel rods didn’t explode as they got hit, manages to hold it together. During the battle Haruhi is hurt and Boomer rushes to check on her, with Damos saying he could heal her if he only touches her. Boomer touches her head, but Damos requests Boomer touch her boob, Boomer refuses, and simply puts a bandage on her. They put her in the medical base hospital when they get back to Wolverine. Later back home, Boomer and Dee make sweet love and Damos “plants a seed” inside Dee’s womb.
Next day, Dee is startled to discover she is now 9 months pregnant, and going into labor. Boomer has Red Alert come and check on her and he delivers a son to Boomer. Boomer summons Keiko and Yuri and introduces them to the baby, staggering thru weak explanations to them as well. Boomer also contacts Bull and manages to rattle out a weak “The Warp does strange things to a mans testicles.” explanation about the whole thing.
Next day, Boomer awakens to discover his sons is now 5. Him and Dee come up with the name Gabriel Samuel Sagara and they take him to the Bridge to be scanned and put in the system as authorized. Boomer discovers Gabriel has Telepathy and Energy Kenisis.
Next day Gabriel is 10, and Boomer begins drinking heavily.
Next day after that Gabriel is 15, and Dee considers joining Boomer in the bottle. Boomer gives the “birds and the bees” story to Gabriel, and advises him he is to never do it with his sister. Haruhi walks in and meets Gabriel, making Boomer expand his advice to also mark ANY female in the household. Boomer and Dee take him to the Bridge and sit him in “the learning chair” and “learn him some edumacation” so he will at least be normal. They do so, scanning and recording Yuri’s mind first before implanting the knowledge into him, with gender explicit changes. Now his mental faculties equal his physical faculties.
Next day their son is now 20, and able to talk or do anything else properly. Boomer tries to tell Dee the truth about Gabriel, but instead Damos stops him and blanks his mind momentarily. Damos explains to Boomer that he doesn’t want anyone knowing about him, and that he did what he did to set up a “back up” just in case anything went wrong and he had to get out of Boomer. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
220-225 Boomer contacts Mr Kelzar and asks him to prepare a set of documents, including an ID, for Gabriel. Boomer also gives a cred-stick to Rabbit and tells him to take Gabriel to Glisten and “make a Man” out of him. So Rabbit takes Gabriel to the Red Heart Hotel and Casino, to introduces him to gambling and women. Rabbit rents Gabriel a chick to amuse himself with. Rabbit enjoys the bar and casino, until a commotion draws him and several employees to the weeping hooker. Seems Gabriel was a tad rough with her, so Rabbit gets Gabriel a powerful drink, which he downs, followed by another, with the same result, then lets him gamble before he rents a Sword World chick named Esmarelda and turns Gabriel lose with her.
Meanwhile, Boomer gets the fake documents and asks Mary Kei if she can do a series of blood tests and a DNA scan on Gabriel. Mary Kei asks Boomer why he waited so long to check on the babe if he had any doubts, to which Boomer claims he is assured Gabriel is his, thus denying any wrong-dooing by Dee, but claims “The Warp does strange things to a mans testicles.” and asks her to bring some help and come check on Gabriel. Mari Kei agrees, but asks why a babe need a set of fake documents right now? Boomer laughs maniacally. Later, he presents the Documents to Dee, and they have a discussion about it all. He also has a lengthy discussion with the Girls about Gabriel.
Meanwhile, Rabbit’s leisure is interrupted by a scream, and he checks it out to discover Gabriel has knocked out and injured Esmarelda. He claims he “blacked out” while they were “playing rough” and he went pyro-happy on her – however, fortunately (?) he took out the security camera before hand, dropping a security camera in Rabbits hand. Rabbit makes sure the girl is still alive, mostly, before The Red Heart employees arrive and, not taking kindly to all this, chase them. They flee, make it back to the Air Raft to head for Wolverine. They are swiftly pursued, so they notify home they are coming in hot. Boomer tells the Girls to launch Wolverines Claws and help them, but not to fire unless the Red Heart ship did first – which they do. Boomer takes the time to align Wolverines big guns while trying to contact the Red Heart ship asking them to stand down, but it told none of this is his concern. Boomer fires the Big Gun at the ships, after making sure the Three plus Rabbit were safely out of target range, and he chases them off, but not before the intruders skim Wolverine and drop off Hunter Killer bots.
Rabbit crash lands the Air Raft near the Eagles Nest, and after making sure Yuri’s vehicle was ok, scampers off with Gabriel. Boomer watches the duo encounter a Hunter Killer bot, and dash off into the woods, so he comes up with an idea to have Wolverine unleash the nano-bots and drop lightning bolts on the HK’s until they are done for. Boomer watches the pursuit in anguish, until he talks with Dee and they come up with a plan to teleport to the duo, grab them, and whisk them to the Over World. Dee agrees, and so they do so. Gabriel is thrilled, but Boomer has to explain the situation to Rabbit. Boomer suggests Rabbit check on the Assassin Bot with Haruhi’s help when they get back.
They all return to Wolverines Bridge, and Boomer watches as the lightning bolts take out the HK’s. He gets a report from Rabbit on what all caused this, which leads to a lengthy talk with Gabriel. Boomer discovers Gabriel’s idea of sex has come from looking at questionable sites on the Star-web, so Boomer and Dee set out to make sure every PC has their net passwords changed, except Devon’s. Rabbit makes his way to work on the Assassin Bot, with Haruhi’s help, and together they struggle with it for quite a while. Finally the due manage to reprogram the thing and finish the repair construction on it, before setting it to slumber. Once that’s done Rabbit takes Gabriel out to the shooting range, where he proves to be quite the marksman.
Mary Kei shows up with a shrink named Dr. Jeanette in tow. She is shocked when Boomer introduces Gabriel to her, but she recovers and the two of them check out Gabriel, doing DNA and Blood tests, with a physical, plus a mental evaluation. Dr. Jeanette tells Boomer Gabriel “has issues” and mostly needs a sense of right
vs wrong, plus a respect for other peoples property – like their bodies. Damos “convinces” Boomer to tell the truth about Gabriel to Mary Kei, which (after a brief struggle) he does. Mary Kei, surprisingly, isn’t shocked so Boomer brings Dee in to confirm his tale, also telling her his side of it all. Oddly enough, Dee also seems to take it well, her culture already having tales of Demons running thru it.
Boomer gives Gabriel his documents and ID and explains what they are for to him. The family has a small celebration to honor Gabriel’s birthday and Boomer takes him out to teach him to drive and give him practice. Gabriel needs much practice. Later that evening, a shriek from the laundry room has Keiko accusing Gabriel of pilfering her panties from the washer, which he denies.
Bull announces it is time to go back to Lady Margaret, so everyone packs up their gear and they board the Columbus.
226-228 [A/H Drive]
They arrive at Deneb and descend to the planet where they open up the Fuel Dump and begin to transport more fuel onto the Columbus. They “top off the tank”, as it were, and store extra rods as well. Gabriel is bored and wants to “burn down the forest and animals” just for fun, but Boomer won’t let him and explains why it would be wrong. Then once that it all done they leave for Abraxis.
229-232 [A/H Drive]
Arriving at Abraxix, the Columbus enters a simple orbit before descending to the planet to dock. Bull returns to Samantha and the kids, while Boomer takes his whole entourage home. There he calls for Kira, and attempts to explain Gabriel to her, but to his surprise she already “knows” about him, sort of, and she tells Boomer the story of Gabriel in her dimension, and what became of all that. Boomer assures her the same won’t happen here. He and Kira discuss Dimensional Manipulation/Time Manipulation and Boomer learns a lot.
Next day Boomer has Sebastian get him season tickets to the Abraxis Warriors Gravball team, plus to try and locate a reputable, strict Dojo to enroll Gabriel into. Also he requests Sebastian find him some expert programs for use in his implants – like Persuade, Broker and Advocate. With that taken care of, he gathers Yuri and has Davis take him to Lady Margaret’s meeting, where he introduces Yuri as his assistant. He also encounters Bull, and the two of them discuss their plans – then Boomer has a private chit-chat with Damos about Feeding him, plus how he should act when meeting Lord Skylar. Also, he attempts to “bribe” him into possibly bringing his armies and ships from the Warp and establishing a beachhead in the Imperium.
Lady Margaret congratulates the team for their accomplishment and explains how the new weapons will give Lady Margaret’s faction an advantage in the Rebellion – unless Lucian’s Inquisitional INI doesn’t “invite” the Chaosians and Dark Eldar to invade her Faction from the Glimmerdrift Reaches. She explains the other Faction is attempting to infiltrate her Faction and do just this, and asks if the duo could move in to stop them? Bull and Boomer hold a quick conference, and in the end agree to the mission. Lord Skylar, representing Lady Margaret’s Inquisitional INI, and Count Tukera, give the mission specs over to them. The mission is to go into the Glimmerdrift Reaches to a planet called Tripolis, the only source of Varian Wheat which provides the Imperium with easily 95% of it’s food source, and take out the INI with no damage to the planet. Basically a Hit and Run sort of mission.
After the meeting, Boomer discovers from Haruhi’s investigation that Lord Skylar “might” be Billy. He swallows this info, and decided another meeting with Bull is in order. He calls the Slaughter duo up and invites them to Roza’s 1 year Birthday Party tomorrow night, plus tells Bull about he suspicions of Lord Skylar.
Next day, Yuri, Keiko and Haruhi go into town and have their hair altered by Genetic DNA Cosmetic Implanting – essentially putting a lil piece of each of them into each other. Now all three have strands of the others hair woven in theirs, color and all. Everyone shows up for Roza’s Birthday Party, where Boomer has a lengthy talk with Bull concerning the mission and his suspicions. They discuss the possibility of the necessary crew list, deciding on hiring an Archaeologist for this mission, as well as
Bull, Boomer, Rabbit, Haruhi, Keiko, Air Raid and Flint. After the evening, Boomer arranges to hire Dr. Danforth from Abraxis University for the mission. Sebastian shows up with the required season tickets as well as the suggestion to enroll Gabriel into the Silent Star Dojo. Boomer thanks him, and requests Sebastian get him a list of reputable, fancy S&M clubs. To that note, Sebastian also reveals he has found some excellent expert programs for use in Boomers implants.
Later, Boomer happens upon Gabriel and Haruhi playing a video game when she beats him. Gabriel doesn’t take kindly to it and shoves Haruhi off the couch. Boomer admonishes him but Haruhi runs off, so Boomer chases her – while Damos cheers him on, suggesting he find her and rape her. In desperation, Boomer stops a Maid along the way and kisses her, just to relieve tension and shut Damos up. Oddly enough, after this is when Sebastian delivers the list of S&M clubs to Boomer.
Next day, Boomer goes out and meets Dr. Danforth, and talks with him for a bit before signing him up, then Boomer goes to have a talk with Bull. They make plans to leave the next day, so Boomer makes note. Later, Dee tells Boomer Gabriel and Elaina both are missing, so Boomer scanned for Elaina’s surface thoughts, vaguely obtaining the idea that something was up. With an idea in mind, he goes out looking for them. Along the way, however, he stops at one of the S&M clubs and has his way with a chick that resembles (to Boomer at least.) his ex-3rd wife. He properly fronted the credits and purchased her usage, torture and abuse only, no sex, although Damos is railing inside his head for the latter. Boomer also arranged to have a rather stout girl be his chair while he ate a hot omelet off the other girls body and whispered meaningless nothings in her ear – just to fuel up the pollen induces Rape Rage he implanted in her. Then he gently fed off her emotions, sating Damos for the time being. When finished, Boomer goes to the Columbus and, on a hunch he gained from Elaina’s mind scan, searches it and locates the missing two, trying to stowaway for the Mission. Boomer admonishes them, and then takes them both to the Silent Star Dojo to enroll them.
237-238 [A/H Drive]
Arrive at Tripolis to find a portion of the 225 Imperial Fleet is stationed there. They manage to gain authorization to land at the space dock, and Boomer has Haruhi search the web for any interesting hits concerning the INI, while he sets Air Raid to doing the same with communications. Later, Haruhi reports she found some interesting tidbits of news concerning “Inquisitional INI Interviews”, while Air Raid confirms he has found some mysterious traffic concerning news the Inquisition has been doing sweeps in the area – but the two don’t seem to be from the same origin. Dr. Danforth and Boomer work on getting permission to go down to the planet, and succeed by using Lady Margaret’s name. Once there, they set up their dig site and also convert it into a stake out for doing some recon of the Down Port, where Haruhi found the address of the “INI Interviews”. Keiko and Boomer go to the address and do an up close and personal recon of the place before they go rent an Air Truck. They return to their temp base where Boomer has Haruhi check out the building – but she cannot find anything about it on the web and declares “it doesn’t exist”. Boomer contemplates sending someone in as a fake Interviewee.
Night passes and oddly enough Boomr has a Warp inspired dream that hints the Warp is close. Jolted awake, Boomer decides to chat with Damos, and they wind up discussing what the INI might be up to with the Interviews and all that. The subject of Warp Portals comes up. When dawn comes, Boomer reports to Bull and they discuss what to do concerning everything. Boomer decides to go to the Over World and see what he can see there. He takes Keiko with him, and once there he locates the building and finds it is “feeding” some odd style of energy deep into Over Space toward a “portal”. A bright scan almost catches him and Keiko there, and it was only Fate that allowed them to escape it. Quickly returning back to reality, he reports to Bull once more. While that is going on, Damos talks with Boomer some. Boomer asks Haruhi to see if she can hack the Down Port’s sensors and scan for a portal in space. She tries and tries, finally calling on Fate to aid her locate the nebulous outline of the old Portal in space. Boomer reports to Bull, and then decides to consult to Columbus’s computer on things. He is shut down, so he asks Haruhi to speak with the system about Dimensional Manipulation and how to close a portal. She does so, learns a lot, and reports to Boomer. Boomer reports to Bull and gives him the data and info regarding the portal, and suggests he pass it on to the Fleet and have them ready for whatever appears. Then he decides to go get Kira.
230-231 [A/H Drive]
Arrive at Lady Margaret’s faction and contacts Kira to have her come to the Spaceport. She does so immediately, and Boomer picks her up. He does his best to avoid having a meeting with Lady Margaret, not answering his phone till almost out at the jump point. Then he spins a weak story about needing to retrieve a piece of equipment, and will be back ASAP.
232-233 [A/H DRIVE]
On the way back to Tripolis, he fills Kira in on everything. She, in turn, teaches him more about closing portals and the like.
Arrive just in time to discover the fleet has moved out in space near the quickly forming Portal. Boomer moves the Columbus to the front of the Fleet, and tries his best to weaken or halt the Portal, only succeeding in diminishing its strength and curtailing the amount of enemies that can make it thru. 2 Chaosian battleships and a Dark Eldar craft make it thru. The Fleet open fires, and the Columbus joins them.
The enemies target the Columbus, since it is doing the most damage, and in due time Kira gets hurt. The duo help Boomer take her to sickbay, then return to the battle. While a horrific battle is raging, Kira manages to return and closes the portal, helping destroy the enemies. The Columbus is damaged, and begins self-repair on itself.
As that info is entered in the ships log, it opens a sealed portion of the orders asking them to take out Lucian’s INI. Boomer uses his telekinesis to maneuver a piece of space debris into position and drops it from orbit to demolish the Interview building and take out the Rogue INI, as well as much of the countryside and outlying buildings. Boomer reaps the aftereffects of the carnage and uses it to feed Damos. They land and rest, noting the news is abuzz with details of the Warp Invasion and how they managed to orbit bomb a section of the city. As Boomer drinks in this news, Damos “shoves him” out of the drivers seat and steps up to have a delightful grope at Keiko’s boob. She screams, so Boomer – once more in control – teleports away and spend the remainder of their his time avoiding the duo.
After a couple of days, Boomer gathers up Dr. Danforth and they leave.
236-237 [A/H DRIVE]
Return to Abraxis and dock, waiting and resting. Boomer takes Kira to his estate and hides her. Dee reports to Boomer about Gabriel and Elaina “getting close”, and asks if he could have a word with them. Bull and Boomer report to the Duchess for their debriefing, and they meet one of her other military advisers, General LyRen, plus Lord Skylar. Between them they spin a tale of amazement, which no one buys, so they both wind up spending Fate to make their stories believable. Lord Skylar seems to be watching Yuri and Boomer a lot, but says nothing. On their way home, they both talk between them about Lord Skylar, and what they think he’s up to.
Boomer talks with Sebastian a bit before he goes and talks to Elaina. She gives her take on what they “scandalously” have been up to, so Boomer goes and finds Gabriel to talk with him. Afterwards, Boomer watches Gabriel admonish a frightened maid that “apparently” ran into him, then he runs off. After thinking about it all, Boomer heads off looking for Gabriel but can’t find him. He tracks down Sebastian, and talks with him, and finds out Gabriel has taken an “interest” in a maid named Ceresiy, causing her great unrest. Sebastian explains she is a Lesbian, with no interest in men, so Boomer asks Sebastian to check over the whole situation and get back with him.
Much later on, after dinner, Boomer talks with Dee, Rabbit and Gabriel about making a Marker in Abraxis’s Over World. Sebastian shows up and reports to Boomer what he knows about the Gabriel/Ceresiy situation. Boomer asks him for a list of reputable Adult clubs in Abraxis.
Next day, Boomer, Dee, Rabbit, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Elaina and Gabriel go to the Over World. Boomer contacts the FC and asks for their aid in making a Marker. Cheri says she will ask Reynaud then get back with him. Dee takes the time to teach Gabriel Focus Shield. Reynaud contacts Boomer and agrees, so the FC opens a portal to him and come over. For the next 8 hours the whole team construct the Marker with the FC help, and during that time Dio tells Boomer about the “metal stickman” that have recently been seen wandering around Darkover. They return home and rest.
Next day, Boomer awakens to total silence. He goes downstairs to find his family sitting around in silence. Asking questions, he finds Elaina is “having problems getting out of bed”, to which Haruhi says all last night she was screaming and there was sounds of “a wrestling match” going on. Boomer has Devon go check on Elaina, and she returns and says that Elaina apparently has had “seriously rough sex” and is tired. Boomer puts 2 and 2 together and goes to talk with Gabriel about Elaina.
Later on, the two go to the local GravBall game and revel in all its glory. Boomer thinks he spies an Inquisitor in the crowd when they are leaving, and head out to the Adult Clubs. They go to the Slanted Cunny where they drink and spend credits like mad men. Then they go to the Hopping Hooters, where they discover midget girls. Then they go to the Wolfs Den, where they find Varger Females with multiple tits. Then they go to the Underground, where they find Nobles living the dark, exotic Goth lifestyle. Boomer thinks he spies an Inquisitor among the outside crowd as they head for home.
241-242 Boomer enjoys his cup of Dawn in the breakfast nook when he spies Gabriel walking around with Rosza. Thinking this odd, he calls his son over and “claims” Rosza from him to play with her. Kira, Yuri an Dee come rushing into the breakfast nook freaking out “because Rosza is gone!” but when they see Boomer has her they calm down. Gabriel explains he noticed the baby was about to wake up, and since everyone was asleep he picked her up and brought her out. He wanted to “talk with his baby sister and give her the benefit of his knowledge”. Kira isn’t too happy with this, but says nothing. Boomer contacts Silverbolt about some Recon training for Gabriel and the Girls, adding he would be totally authorized to utilize “military methods and discipline” if needed. When Gabriel finds out, he admits they will only discipline him once, to which Boomer reminds him he is the low man on the totem pole as far as S&S Salvage goes and is subject to all rules and procedures as dictated.
Then Boomer talks with Gabriel about his plans for the future – Gabriel admits his plans mostly involve marrying a rich bitch, living the good life, and going adventuring. Boomer suggests going to college first, and Gabriel is all for it, so Boomer contacts the local University online and sets up admissions for all 6 of them. Boomer contacts Sebastian to arrange for Gabriel to have some driving practice, then he talks with the Girls about transferring credits to Abraxis University and the Recon training. The Girls all express concern for the training, especially Elaina and the severe” nature of it all.
Davis takes Gabriel out to show him the ropes concerning driving. Boomer gets in touch with Rabbit and they discuss the possibility of fashioning a bomb from one of the Black Hole Fuel Rods, plus he includes Haruhi as well. They decide to visit the Columbus and talk with it as well. Later on, Davis reports Gabriel has done well with his practice, and Silverbolt reports Gabriel is good at Recon.
Next day, the three head off to meet at the Columbus. Once there, they engage the Bridge PC in a talk concerning their ideas. The Columbus explains they are toying with something the Ancients called a “destablizer” and it wreaked total devastation when used. The Ancients used it to remove planets or stars as they saw fit, often with disastrous results. It is obstinate in relaying any information about it, so Boomer has Haruhi crack the system unexpectedly and she downloads the specs and prints them out. The computer is vastly unhappy with this, and lets Boomer know if he was smart he would destroy that schematic. Boomer ignores it, and telepathically links with Rabbit so they can look over the diagram. They do so, but unfortunately they have no luck totally deciphering it – so Boomer “traps” a lockbox so the diagram will be destroyed if anyone messes with it, then he hides the lockbox on the Columbus. The three leave the Columbus, and outside in the starport he spies no Inquisitors.
Back home Boomer watches the holovid news and listens to report after report on the Rebellion, while he notes a special report from the Inquisition saying they “may have recently made discoveries concerning Ancients Aid for the Imperium.” Afterward, Boomer checks online about a hoverbike for Gabriel, then he goes to the gym where he watches Gabriel “sparring” with Keiko, then Yuri, then Keiko again after he knocks Yuri out. Keiko kicks his azz, and in the end Devon has to be called to care for him. Keiko apologizes, then tends to Yuri. Boomer notes Dara and Elaina aren’t there, so he go in search of them. He finds them backing in the kitchen, so he visits with them until he mentions the “sparring bout”. Elaina rushes to be by Gabriel’s side, leaving Boomer and Dara to shoot the breeze.
243-245 Boomer begins his day with a simple cuppa coffee and digests the news on the holovid about the Rebellion. It is grim and drawn out, much like the Rebellion, and how after 4 years of it the Imperium is getting tired of it all. Lady Margaret summons Bull to a meeting, stating he can bring whomever he wishes, at his earliest convenience. Bull contacts Boomer and tells him make ready, so Boomer gets Yuri set to go, and Lady Margaret’s limo comes to get all 3 of them. On the way over Boomer reports to Bull everything concerning his discovery of the “destablizer” and how it could be utilized, if only they could decipher its schematic and build it. They arrive to see Lady Margaret, catching her in a meeting with all her advisers. (Lord Lucas, Lord Skylar, General LyRen, and her husband Count Tukera) She dismisses everyone, stating she need to have a private meeting with Bull and Boomer, so with much arching of eyebrows, they all leave. Once they are alone she drops the whole “noble/title” thing and tells them now it’s just them and her talking. She does this because she wants them to understand they are equals in this, and should speak their mind. She explains to them her Inquisition had detected a strong psychic presence recently arrived in the system, and putting two and two together, plus some realizations about their past performances, she finally has reason to understand something about the Columbus, after a fashion, and therefore realizes it is because of that secret they have proven so useful – and now she has another true need for their services. She tells them, due to some special agents sacrifices, the itinerary of Lucian’s movements over the next year has fallen into her lap, and she would like to take advantage of it to arrange an “accident” to Lucian and remove his piece from the board. Bull and Boomer discuss it a bit, and she gives the a copy of the itinerary so they can work it all out. The duo advises Lady Margaret they will discuss it further and let her know of their decision ASAP. She tells them take their time, but remember time is of the essence.
The group leave and return to Boomer’s home, sweeping everything for bugs and the like along the way, especially the Data Stick Lady Margaret gave them. Boomer has Sebastian bring sandwiches and whiskey to Boomer’s office, and he tells Yuri about the secrecy of the meeting they are about to have, so she brings the other two in as well. They all discuss what to do and how to do it, coming up with a possible idea involving Boomer taking Haruhi, teleporting in where Lucian is, letting her “kill” him, and popping back out. They also mull over other ideas, and Boomer gives Haruhi the Data Stick to have her cross reference the itinerary along with Dulinors and see if there is a time they are close.
Next day, after 8 hours working on it Haruhi comes up with a listing of possible locations and times where the two are closest. Boomer contacts Bull and relays the information. He also suggests taking Rabbit to Wolverine so he can “sit in the learning chair”. Bull agrees to go, as well as Devon, so all three of them “take Bull to the Over World”, portal, and descend down to Wolverine. Bull is clearly put off by the whole event, and admits there is something wrong with the Over World. Admittedly, Boomer realizes he sort of felt something “mechanical” was watching him, but it was so slight he never noticed it until Bull claimed his dismay with it. They shift to the Bridge, and rabbit sits in the learning chair and undergoes being taught how to read and understand Ancient. He reacts poorly to this, and only by spending Fate does he manage to survive. Back at the compound Devon has Rabbit rest while Boomer goes to the Eagles Nest to check up on how things are progressing with the renovation. All seems well, so he checks his mail – noting an email from the Countess – which he decided to answer later. He meets up wit Bull hours later back at the Compound and they return to the Over World, portal, and descend back to Abraxis. Once there, due to travel times and such It is late, so they all return home to rest. That night, an orgy of loud, violent sex fills the house.
Next day, Boomer returns the Countess’s email. In it he mention how Elaina has been doing well, and has been spending time with young man she seems to have taken a fancy to. Haruhi and Rabbit talk with Boomer about possible recreating the “destabilizer” and a list of items they would need to do so. Some are easy to acquire, others Boomer feels sure he can locate, but some a few only can be gained by special Military requisition. So to that end he contacts Bull and reports to him. Bull agrees, and puts in a urgent rush request to Lady Margaret to acquire the items. As the day passes, the parts come together, and when the Duchess comes thru and drops off the final pieces, Boomer takes Rabbit’s plans and puts it all together. Now they have 2 “destablizers”, for good or evil, and set them aside with a new idea to use them on Lucien and Dulinor. Boomer and Bull discuss the possibility of using the abandoned Depot near Deneb to construct the creation.ext day, Boomer returns the Countess’s email. Boomer and Bull discuss the possibility of using the abandoned Depot near Vland to construct their creations, and how too utilize them on Lucien and Dulinor.
246-247 Boomer sets out to acquire some Data Display and Helmet Reader HUD devices and sets forth having Haruhi and Rabbit program in an Ancients/Imperial Translation matrix for the devices to utilize, thus allowing Dara and Elaina to be more useful on the ship. Bull and Boomer decide on the “bomb making crew” to take, settling on Haruhi, Rabbit, Boomer, Bull, Gabriel. Elaina, Dara, Yuri, Keiko, Silverbolt, Devon and Red Alert. When all preparations are complete the ship leaves into A/H Drive toward the abandoned Vland Depot.
247-249 [A/H DRIVE]
250-252 VLAND DEPOT
During the trip Haruhi works on the programming for the translator. When they arrive and check the place out, the crew unloads everything into the Depot and Yuri helps set up a base. Boomer asks Haruhi to get Gabriel to help, but when she asks him, in “typical” Haruhi fashion, they argue so she walks off. Boomer observes it all and has a word with Gabriel, putting him in his place. Then he goes about setting up watch details for the Depot’s sensors and fire control station anongst the girls and reminder of the crew. Finally, Boomer goes to the “bomb making room” with Rabbit and starts to test and sort the various parts, dividing them into Good, Bad and Questionable piles. After a long and exhaustive ordeal, with the help of Fate they manage to sort everything into a usable pile for work. Finishing that, he reports to Bull about everything, then heads off for dinner.
Next day, Bull, Rabbit and Boomer report to begin construction. Boomer has everyone to board the Columbus and move off the Depot, just in case. The work begins, but it is difficult and repeated failures from Rabbit and Boomer lead to Bull finally crafting the Detonator. Then they begin work on the Actuator with Rabbit having no success, so Boomer crafts it. Finally in the end Rabbit calls on Fate and he connects all the parts into one unit. Bull calls for a break, so they move off for some food and rest before returning and, slightly easier now, craft a second bomb. Boomer recalls the Columbus and loading their prizes, they head off seeking Lucien.
253-255 [A/H DRIVE]
Pop out of drive and spy Lucien’s fleet dead ahead. Boomer retrieves the trigger for the bomb and tries to key it into the individual element. Time and time the key fails to initialize, until in the end he calls upon Fate to lock the code. He has Yuri and Keiko use their clairvoyance to get the necessary location on the target ship, then he has Bull super charges him. Bull hefts up the bomb, Boomer grabs him and the bomb, teleports to Lucien’s ship, drops off the bomb, and get away and to activate it.
They watch in somber realization as the Devastator does its job, removing Lucien’s ship from reality.
255-257 [A/H DRIVE]
They arrive to discover Dulinor’s fleet is no where in sight. They decide to wait for it near the gate, so Boomer gets the other trigger and keys it to the remaining bomb. Soon they are rewarded by Dulinor’s fleet popping out of jump. Boomer has Yuri and Keiko again use clairvoyance to get a location for transport, but they are blocked by a severe Psyker presence. Not surprisingly almost immediately the fleet notices the Columbus, and move in to attack. Bull supercharges Boomer, then has Dara contact Dulinor and demands to speak with him. After dropping names and titles, he finally succeeds. Bull motions to Haruhi to establish a like between him and Boomer, and he tells him he is going to distract Dulinor and his group. While he does so, Boomer teleports himself and the bomb onto Dulinor’s ship, manages to hide the bomb, barely escape and while Bull is still distracting Dulinor devastates the craft.
They watch in somber realization as the Devastator does its job, removing Dulinor’s ship from reality.
258-260 [A/H DRIVE]
261-262 END OF THE REBELLION – ABRAXIS
Return home with great celebration on the Columbus still going on. Descend to Abraxis and contact Lady Margaret, requesting a meeting and promising good news. She sets up an appointment on the next day. Boomer downloads and sets up a extensive log of sensor readings and other visuals to offer as proof. He makes sure Yuri will go with him to the meeting tomorrow.
Next day the necessary members go to see Lady Margaret. She dismisses everyone and invites them to talk. They show her their proof and report Lucien and Dulinor are both no longer threats, and the Rebellion is over. Now the Imperium can turn their attention to the Cybot War out on the Frontier, but Lady Margaret seems rather indifferent about it. Bull and Boomer are rather taken aback at her lackadaisical attitude, but instead concentrate on the news at hand.
Margaret is thrilled, and calls her husband, High Lord Lucas and Lord Skylar back into the conference to give them the good news. As a reward, she offer to elevate those responsible to the positions of Honor Nobles and tells them there will be an award ceremony with recognition for all involved. Bull tells High Lord Lucas that he is going to replace him, and Lucas argues. Bull tells Lord Skylar he can chose which side he wishes to be on, and after a bit he joins Bull. Lucas argues a bit more, and Bull states he was going to offer him a second chance, but Lord Skylar tells him why that would be a bad idea. It is a compelling argument, so Bull has Lord Skylar execute him, which he does in a raging display of lightning. Both Sharra and Damos take notice of this, and Damos makes mention that Skylar seems possessed by a High Demon of Lightning.
In the end, Lady Margaret takes the change well enough, especially after Bull explains his plans and such – so the new Emperess offers him the position of High Lord Inquisitor, and Boomer as Viscount of Acquisitions.
263-266 Boomer rests and recovers, preparing for the big awards ceremony. Word starts going out about the End of the Rebellion, and how the Imperium is reborn, but it will take nearly a year to reach the Frontier. Boomer talks with Kira about psychic training and endeavors to sharpen his mind along those lines. He spends some time playing with Rosza and chatting with the Three, during which he asks Haruhi if she could do an info search concerning his older children. Then he places Elaina on “wardrobe duty”, and has her arrange for some “fancy dress clothes” be purchased for everyone. Haruhi helps her by using S&S Salvage’s account to pay for it. (Unknown to Boomer) Then they have supper, after which Boomer has a telepathic conversation with Kira about the Overworld and “if/what” she noticed there. He also has a similar telepathic conversation with Dee about the same thing, and then consolidates their opinions into one.
Next day, a tailor shows up on rush and retrofits Boomer’s Dress Blues, due to him finding his old uniform “a bit tight”. Online delivery arrives with the recently purchased goods on rush. Elaina steps up and administers the preparations, also mentioning to Boomer about the additional purchase of an outfit for Rosza that Dee suggested. Due to 1+1=2 logic, Boomer becomes suspicious Haruhi used S&S Salvages creds to purchase his clothes, but he can’t prove it. After everyone reviews their outfits, Boomer feels Dee’s, Kira’s and Rosza’s outfits scream “hick” at full volume, but Dee won’t even consider upgrading them since she purchased them specifically to reflect her (their) Warzburg heritage. So Boomer has a talk with Elaina and Sebastian, then decides to get alterations on the fly. He arranges for Pierre, of Pierre’s Noble Knights, to come and provide the necessary alterations, since he is the one most famous for making the Nobles clothes. Pierre shows up and immediately get to work “improving” their clothes – mostly by suggesting redoing all of them in Nomenhan Spidersilk, which is so unique that it is immediately recognizable. One by one Boomer winds up buying for everyone outfits, including Rosza, and redoing his old Dress Blues in a more modern style and fabric. Gabriel makes a passing comment to Boomer that he should “possibly see about his other daughter”, meaning Kira, so in the end he adds her updates as well. Plus he also shells out some stiff cred for accessories for everyone, and in the end the final cost is staggering, but the cost of being a Noble isn’t cheap.
Next day, Boomer simply rests and watches the holovid news. He receives news the awards ceremony will be in a day or so.
Next day, Sebastian announces he has located a fine legal firm called Durass and Vader who is more than happy to take over his accounts and represent him in the Imperium. Boomer contacts them and has a brief conversation with them, to feel them out. They remark to Boomer it will be necessary to “acknowledge” an heir, and list the possible choices he will have – but they mention to him it would probably be for the best if he kept that information on the “down low”. Haruhi comes up with a report on Akane and Billie for Boomer, so he learns of their “fate” as it were. He also learns of Akane’s 2 kids, and Billie’s last mission for the military and the Inquisitional involvement in it.
267-269 Boomer rests and reflects on what Durass and Vader told him, and his choice of heirs. Damos starts whining about being fed, so Boomer has Davis bring the car around and soon he is at the Gilded Cage, a posh Noble nightclub. He meets Candy, the mistress, and hires the services of a young female named Wendi, planning on a night of debauchery. Almost immediately, Damos tries to kill her, but Boomer resists him and instead “restrains” her on the table, thinking to “play” with her. Damos tries to kill her again, and Boomer resists, and instead tortures her quite a bit. Damos howls in glee, and suggests Boomer rape the youngling. Boomer refuses again, but Damos presses the issue and in the end Boomer succumbs and has sex with Wendi. Damos tells Boomer now he has blackmail on Boomer if he tries to fight Damos once more, so Boomer cleans up and heads home. Once there, Dee confronts him and questions him concerning his whereabouts, so Boomer admits and explains everything. Dee is visibly upset, and demands a word with Damos. Boomer allows this, but the conversation devolves into a “psychic” duel, eventually ending with Boomer reigning in Damos. Dee storms out and goes to talk and sleep with the Girls.
Next morning, Boomer awakens to a chilly, cold breakfast. Not the food, but the frowny faces from Dee and the girls across the table. Boomer retires to the TV room and watches more news, until Kira comes in the room with Rosza and asks some questions. Boomer explains as best he can, but then Gabriel shows up and dismisses Kira so he can speak with Boomer. Gabriel asks Boomer what his plans are concerning his “heir”. Boomer hems and haws, mentioning he hasn’t decided yet, noting there is his elder children, and Yuri, along with Gabriel to consider. Gabriel leaves in a huff, and Boomer calls for Keiko. She coldly comes to talk with him, and Boomer explains he would like some training from her and in return he will teach her Instruction. Keiko agrees, so later Boomer meets her in the Gym. She shows up wearing her gauntlets and with Yuri and Haruhi in tow, but they stay off to the side to watch. Keiko spars with Boomer, training him in Brawling. Damos decides, after getting trashed by Keiko more than once – because she was using her gauntlets and therefore “cheating” – to convince Boomer to slip in under her guard and grab her boob. To his credit she is taken off guard by this and Boomer is able to follow up with a quick series of jabs. She is so shocked Boomer can drop her, and Yuri and Haruhi are appalled. However, Keiko calms them down somewhat and agrees to listen to the things Boomer is telling her. Boomer instructs her on the nuances of actually teaching something to someone, including grabbing their attention when necessary, rather than just “doing” it and hoping the person learns. Keiko agrees, and Boomer heads off to go “grab Dee’s attention” and talk with her. He find her and explains what all happened and why – and Dee forgives him.
The next day the modified outfits show up, so Boomer calls everyone down to try them all on – including the accessories. All goes well, and everyone seems to be over his indiscretions, so Boomer elects to take Gabriel Hoverbike shopping. They visit a local vehicle mall and Gabriel find one he likes, after test driving one or two, after Boomer makes sure he is wearing his helmet. In the end, Boomer shells out $300,00 cred for the thing, and Gabriel gladly rides it back home. Boomer purchases a second helmet, “just in case”, and gives it to Gabriel to keep on the bike. Elaina is excited for Gabriel, so he offers to take her on a ride, and off they go. Dee mentions her concern for Elainas safe being, to which Boomer states he’s sure they’ll be fine. Dee makes an offhanded comment “Oh yeah, him too….” and Boomer is taken rather aback by her lack of concern for their youngest. A long time passes, and the sun sets, and nothing – until his comm signals a call. It is the Abraxis Authorities and they report they picked up Gabriel and Elaina having sex in a public park and what would Boomer like to do. Boomer agrees to come down to the station and recover the two delinquents after which he gives them a stern talking to on the way home, although the whole thing is rather undermined by Boomer’s occasional chuckle and tales of his mispent youth. Gabriel blows it off as a simple misunderstanding, which Boomer finds hard to believe. Elaina is mortified, and apologies profusely to Boomer.
270-272 The Coronation/Awards ceremony takes place with much pomp and circumstance. Hundreds of Nobles from the closest systems within a weeks journey show up for the event to see the rebirth of the Third Imperium. Bull and Boomer prepare with their whole crew and attend the proceedings. They watch, and endure, the fascinatingly long Coronation ceremony as it unfolds, with much fanfare and regalia. Its history steeped in tradition, much of which both Boomer and Bull already know, Words are said exactly as they should be, recited with rote – but they must be said. Margaret is anointed and takes the Iridium Throne as Empress, then brief lunch break is held for the audience. Then the procedure of nobles is led thru the Throne Room to swear their allegiance, which is long and involved, and many oath are sworn. Finally the Empress calls for Bull and Boomer to appear before her, and with the help of the Lord Grand High Chamberlain (Lord Douchecanoe!) she elevates the two to the ranks of Honor Nobles, along with all the benefits that go along with it. She presents them with medals of the purest Iridium as a token of her thanks, and also grants them their new titles in her court. Bull is the new High Lord Inquisitor, and Boomer is Viscount of Acquisitions. Word of their actions to end the Rebellion are sent out with her thanks across the Third Imperium, then she delivers congratulatory awards, thanks and medals to the other members of their crew.
Afterwards, Bull moves to visit the Inquisition, He introduces himself and Lord Skylar, tells them what he plans for the Inquisition, collects the info on all his “team” of Officers, then leaves.
As night falls, the stress of the day shows itself on Samantha as she goes into labor. Bull freaks out but handles the affair with stern military precision and rushes her to the hospital. She needs to have a C-Section, so they do so and Bull watches as light spills from Sam, followed by twin glowing eyed babies. Bull speaks with Sam.
Next day, Bull contacts Boomer and tells all about his last night and announces the twins names Nathanial and Rachel. Boomer congratulates him, comments on the oddity of the glowing eyes, and then tells him about the inheritance rules concerning heirs. Bull tells Boomer to bring the crew to visit, so Boomer gathers up everyone and eventually heads to the hospital. They show up jut as the Inquisition Medical Officer, Dr. Raven, shows up. Bull immediately makes her his personal (and family) physician and everyone coos and squeals over Sam and the babies. Later they break for food, and Boomer talks with Bull about Billie and Lord Skylar.
Next day the Empress summons Boomer to court, so he takes Gabriel and Yuri to meet with her. Dee joins them also, because of the honor and she wants to be a part of the family if there’s going to be any praise doled out on Boomer. She meets them alone in her “office” and speaks with Boomer about his new position, and asks if he knows about the Imperial Regalia. She explains that she has all of them except one piece that has been lost for nearly 600 years until now she has info on the possible whereabouts of it and would he go acquire it? (not really a question, more of an order) Boomer (naturally) agrees and receives the data stick with the mission info on it then leaves. The crew head home, and Boomer contacts Bull and explains everything to him. Bull advises he will sit this one out, trusting in Boomer to handle it all. Boomer arranges his crew list comprising of Silverbolt, Red Alert, Air Raid, Boomer, Gabriel, Rabbit, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Elaina and Kira. He reviews and studies the data stick and makes due to leave.
BACK ON ABRAXIS –
273-275 Bull awakens to the realization that fatherhood comes with a price. A noisy, sleepless price. He arises, kisses Sam and his children good day, then heads out to the Inquisitional Headquarters and arranges to meet his Inner Council. They all agree to show, except Lord Judiciary Count Warren, who is tied up in Imperial Court and cannot attend right away. He invites Bull to sit in on his last case later in the day and then he will attend. Bull agrees, and heads over to the Imperial Court. The case involves the sentencing of a Chapter of the Space Marines who were found guilty of Treason after the Rebellion. This Chapter, called the Red Hawks, served as Mercenaries at the end of the Rebellion and fought, albeit discreetly, for the Rebellion while still wearing their Chapter colored Battle Dress. This caused confusion, and gave them the advantage greatly until they were defeated and captured. Now they had served trial, and were to be sentenced. Bull arrived at the Court and found a seat to watch the proceedings. The sentence was swift and final – Death for the Traitor Chapter, and they were led away. Lord Warren then went with Bull to the meeting where they met everyone else, as well as Lord Skylar. Bull laid out his plans for the Inquisition, as well as detailed the changes that were going to be sweeping over them as time went on. He divided the Inquisition into 3 general divisions to focus their attention. Order Zeno, Order Psyker, and Order Warp, depending on how each Inquisitor handled their duties. Then he called for a meeting with all Psykers, regardless of their new division, after the rest leave. He gets 5 high ranking members, whom Bull reviews and has Lord Skylar clear. They are Lord Rok Anak of the Zeno, Lord Mustafa Zarfan of the Psykers, Lady Jyna Stella of the Warp, plus Lord Karl Heinrik representing the Space Marines, and Lord Pierce Reynolds representing the Imperial Guard. Bull makes them his “secret inner council” and he tells them of a new group of people he intendeds to introduce to as advisers to his roster, and he explains his plans on making the Inquisition great again. Lady Stella asks some pointed questions, and Bull is not thrilled with her so he asks Skylar to pay attention to her. Skylar agrees, and inside Bull he hears Sharra warn him abut Lord Skylar. Bull is shocked and begins to question this inner voice he has suddenly discovered when Dr. Raven shows up. Bull notes she is psychic, so he dismisses everyone and talks with her – detailing to her he expects her to act as “guardian” for his family if he is ever not around, plus arranges to have his children secretively checked. She agrees to do so and will be discreet.
Bull goes home and finds Dee is there helping Sam care for the Twins. He talks with the ladies concerning the Twins, and tells Sam about what he intends on Dr. Raven doing in his place. Then he talks with Dee, and asks her if she can contact the Forbidden Circle. Dee agrees if she can take him to the Over World where they can meet them. Bull agrees, so Dee takes Bull into the Over World, much to Bulls discomfort, and contacts the FC. She asks them to come to the Marker in Abraxis, so they do so where Bull details to them his grand plans and asks them to join him. They agree to talk it over, and step off to the side while Dee explains she can teach Bull how to enter and leave the Over World on his own, since it seems to have become necessary. Bull agrees, and when the FC returns they to have agreed to join forces with Bull. Bull lets them decide where they wish to be stationed, to which Cheri agrees they will visit Abraxis with Bull for a bit. They are curious to see “technology” and all that, which brings up the subject of “weird metallic aftertaste” in the Over World around Warzburg, plus the sightings of “metal scarecrows” on Warzburg itself. They return home.
Upon reappearing home, Bull find out from Sam he has been gone for 2 days, plus Dr. Raven has tested the children already and she will discuss the results with Bull later. Bull introduces the FC to the household staff and assigns them rooms. Cheri takes one, the males all fit in another. Dee tells Bull when she teaches him how to go into the Over World she will also teach him how to adjust for time differences so he wont “be gone for days at a time” anymore. Cheri also tells Dee she will teach her how to Portal if she wants. Later on in the day, a contact with Lord Zarfran reports there has been in increase in psychic presences on Abraxix. Bull tells him he knows and has it under control and not to worry, then he rests a bit.
OFF TO VLAND
273-275 [A/H DRIVE]
Boomer inspects the mission statement closer and learns that the trail is cold, sorta, and he will be mostly on his own to search for the Orb of Power. The spies best leads amount to what turns out to be news from a pawn shop in Vland City, and a list of the top 5.
Boomer enters the system discreetly and approaches the main world. They encounter the Vland Military, who question them, and in the end direct them toward the Highport. There they dock the ship and take a shuttle to the Downport in Vland City, where Boomer obtains rooms for everyone at the TAS. That taken care of, Boomer arranges for a guide and a car to travel out into Vland City to visit the best choice of the pawn shops, Maxies Pawn. Just on the edge of the “bad side of town” they find Maxies Pawn, and enter to meet Father Roco – who seems to work for some “employers” when they mention the Orb. Father Roco admits they had something like that, but recently someone broke in his shop and stole it. Now he has people out hunting for it. Boomer gives him a contact number and a hefty tip and tells him to keep him informed, pausing to read his Surface Thoughts before leaving.
Next day Boomer and gang decide to visit the other pawn shops, running thru a list of them and coming up short at all of them until they find Lockdown Pawn. Of all it is the most shady, and when they enter it they come up against a wall of unfriendliness. They do get to meet the owner of the place, a Guido Salzar, so Boomer reads his Surface Thoughts as well. He gains nothing useful but he learns about something called the Doom Vault.
With all other options tanked, Boomer heads to the Vland Authorities, where he is introduced to Detective Odell of the Noble Larceny Division. He listens to Boomers tale and immediately declares Guido Salzar of Lockdown Pawn would be his prime suspect due to bad blood between the two men. He agrees to look into the whole case and get back in touch with Boomer as need be. Boomer leaves him his contact number and place he is staying. Returning home, Boomer asks Haruhi to get info on the Doom Vault, and later expresses his grief with her when she hands over what is basically “a Wikipedia article” Haruhi apologizes and does some in depth research and discovers more telling info on the Doom Vault. She also finds out, oddly enough, that there were several “search bots” sent out from Maxies Pawn seeking info on Boomer during the last day.
With nothing else to do, Boomer and all concerned decide to watch a Grave-Ball game at the local coliseum. He arranges for a nobles box suite for this evening, and contacts the front desk to make it so. They agree to send up the required information in a bit, and sure enough a maid shows up to deliver a TAS paper with the numbers and everything. Within seconds Boomer is woozy, feels nauseous and suffers a shock to his system seriously damaging him. He barely manages to call for help, and Kira rushes out to save him. Boomer calls for the others and tells them of the maid, and sends them out to get her and bring her back – alive. He also calls for the TAS doctor, who agrees to be right there, but before they show up the gang return dragging along the maid. She is resistant, and eventually bites a false tooth and dies. The TAS doctor shows up with Detective Odell in tow and he sets about checking on Boomer while Detective Odell checks the dead maid. In the end, Boomer is declared lucky to be alive and should rest a bit, but will be fine. Detective Odell finds nothing on or about the maid, but will file this info with his file back at the office. He tells Boomer the reason he came by was to explain what all he ad come up with so far – that being that Father Roco works for The Family, and Guido Salzar use to work for The Family but had a falling out with them and left their ranks to work freelance. Thus the two have a reason to be at odds, but he feels Father Roco arranged the hit on Boomer after he made it known he was looking for the Orb.
Evening comes and all head to the Grav-Ball game between the Vland City Crusaders and the Faction Destroyers. Odds are with the Crusaders, so Boomer sends Gabriel to place bets. They watch the Crusaders, and they prove to be the better team, so Boomer psychically messes with the game some until the Destroyers are winning. Against all odds, they win the game, messing with anyone who bet on the Crusaders severely. They all head home and stop at a bar to celebrate. Gabriel runs his mouth and winds up getting himself and Elaina in a bar fight, where this big guy cracks Gabriel across the face and drops him. Then he draws his Snub Pistol, forcing Boomer to “knock him out” – hoping to shuffle the gang away. However, Gabriel gets up and then pulls his Snub Pistol, and kills him. The Authorities show up, take statements from everybody, and then leave. The gang goes home, with Gabriel looking the worse for wear sporting a broken nose..
277-278 Next day Father Roco calls Boomer and explains what all is happening and says he understands now who Boomer is, and he asks Boomer to gain the Orb so he can buy it from him. Boomer tells him he can’t do that, and must decline. After the call is over Boomer rounds up the gang and heads to Lockdown. They arrive at lunchtime and find a Sword Worlder Cuisine Delivery Vehicle outside the shop. Boomer take Yuri, Gabriel and Keiko in with him, leaving Dara, Elaina and Haruhi outside as a guard. Once inside they encounter Guido Salazar again, and go to his office. There Boomer drops the kid gloves and they seriously discuss the Doom Vault and the Orb, all the while scanning Salazar’s mind. He gains firm evidence Salazar has the Orb and info on the Doom Vault itself, but when Boomer insists on the information, Salazar insists on a Kurfa for that. Keiko explains that Kurfa is a Sword Worlder term loosely translated to “honor trade” and is used to pay ahead on any important debt that might be incurred. Basically trade something that is of equal value to the item given, and to Salazar he feels this info is of utmost importance. Boomer asks what Kurfa Salzar wants, and he chooses Yuri. Guns are pulled and a “mexican standoff” is held on everybody as Keiko seizes up in anger. Boomer talks with Yuri, and Yuri talks with Keiko, and in the end Yuri agrees so Boomer will gain the info. Unwillingly, Boomer agrees and they gather the info, leaving Yuri behind as they go and attempt to deal with Haruhi. Boomer makes sure to leave a mental link with Yuri.
Later back at the TAS, Boomer has Haruhi work on deciphering all the info on the Data Stick. Boomer shares his link with Yuri with Keiko, suggesting they keep it from Haruhi. Several drinks later, he calls Detective Odell and arranges a meeting, asking him to bring a specialist on The Family along as well. Haruhi cracks the code on the info and gives it to Boomer. When Detective Odell shows up, with Detective Marcus of the Department of Family Affairs in tow, they join Boomer and the gang as they all retire for dinner downstairs. Afterward, they return to the room and the authorities scan the room for listening devices. After they determine all is clear, they talk and Boomer asks for a breakdown of the Family Operations on Vland. Detective Marcus tells him the Family has one Commodore (“Don”), and each planet in the Imperium the Family has any influence on has a Commander. Vland’s is a man named Paxton Vargas, and his support is two lethal helpers known generally Ki-Com Arcannen Lauraisa, a Assassian and Ki-Com Rafael Paulo, a Demolitions Expert. Keiko and Gabe have a serious falling out because Keiko complains Slalzar is “touching” Yuri, so she cares too much about this (in his opinion) and he cares too little (in her opinion) thus Keiko bursts in and interrupts Boomers meeting. Boomer excuses himself and talks some with Keiko, trying to calm her down, and Haruhi shows up to try and help calm her down as well…..finding out about the secret psi link the two have been hiding from her and what all is going on. Boomer returns and claims a family emergency in calling for his attention and dismisses the authorities – but not before they mention his name has figured prominently in some of the most recent Family news mail traffic. Boomer inquires if anything can be done to legally harass The Family, but is advised against it. Boomer decides to set Haruhi to start randomly hacking Maxie’s Pawn systems and thus The Family’s files, focusing on bank accounts, credits, and what have you to keep her mind occupied. The night passes.
Late in the middle of the night Boomer is awakened by Keiko banging on her door and listens to her whine Yuri cut off the link. Haruhi overhears their conversation and gets overexcited as well. Boomer calms them both and sends them back to bed. He spends the rest of the night contemplating what this all could mean, and sleeps little. Come the morning, he receives a call from Yuri asking for someone to come pick her up. Apparently Salazar is done with her, and she wants to come home. Boomer takes Kira and they go retrieve Yuri and bring her back to the TAS where she retires to her wives. Boomer contacts the Columbus and has Silverbolt prepare his “bug out crate” for shipping, then he contacts the front desk and arranges for a state-of-the-art, fine storage facility downtown. They set him up with an appointment to visit Varian Storage where he can inspect the premise. Boomer takes Gabriel over there and checks it out, inspecting the place both in reality and the Over World. Once in the Over World, he is surprised to find the premise has a zoo-like appearance, and is filled with “animals” in cages. Also while there, he notices the TAS has a strong psychic presence in the Over World, and even “guards” watching over it. Nonetheless, he arranges for a locker and has a “truck” go to the Columbus and ship his crate there. He and Gabriel watch the workers unload and store his crate in his locker. Then he secures it and goes to get Kira, planning on one last check of the Over World. When he returns to the Over World with Kira she states how odd it is to see the caged animals, noting it is rare to find anything “alive” in the Over World. Boomer shows her the TAS and she notes it is almost like a Tower, to which Boomer inquires to its possible uses. During this time they noticed smoke rising from a portion of Vland City’s Over World, and when asked about that Kira comments if something did a massive amount of psychic damage in the real world it would reflect in the Over World. They return to the Real World and Kira returns to the rooms while, realizing how much of the day has passed, Boomer and Gabriel grab some lunch at the TAS. While at lunch they hear the local news that Lockdown was assaulted and is ablaze, causing Boomer to develop a pit in his stomach.
Come the afternoon, Boomer and Gabriel return to the rooms where the Three are acting suspicious, and Yuri is acting guilty, and all of them are being quiet to Boomer. Boomer orders room service and they all quietly eat, occasional comments and jibes made slightly toward Boomer indicate something is wrong with the Three, and they somehow blame Boomer for it. After the meal is over, Boomer pulls Kira aside and talks with her and learns Yuri is preggers, and when her wives learned about how it happened and “why” it happened they went berserk and headed out, only recently returning. Several drinks later, Boomer decides to take Gabriel out to inspect the supposed location of the “intake facility” near the Doom Vault. They do so and go to the Over World where they find the “intake facility” is a much newer building than the surrounding terrain, They investigate it and find a swirling portal that supposedly goes to the Doom Vault, just as a glowing monster almost grabs them. They escape and return to the TAS, where all is still quiet. Boomer arranges for room service and they all eat, while Boomer outlines his plan. Afterward, Yuri pulls him aside and explains to him what happened, and how she is going to keep the baby and she doesn’t want anything done to Salazar if possible. She also promises Keiko and Haruhi will calms down after a bit, and she wants Boomer to calm down as well. She discusses possible names for the baby, including Wanda if it is a girl. Boomer tries to be helpful, even going as far as suggesting Edmund if it is a boy. Nighttime rolls around, and further news offerings suggest the carnage at Lockdown was massive…..several if not all the employees were dead, but investigation seems to show they were all killed before the fire.
279-280 Boomer wakes to enjoy his cup of coffee, and makes a call to Detective Marcus requesting a meeting. Yuri joins him, and later is joined by Keiko and Haruhi. The three of them discuss what all has happened, and apologize to Boomer for being “lil bitches”. Boomer sets a new rule with them – no going anywhere “alone” especially with no fore-notice given. He makes it very clear they have to have a merc, him or Kira along with them – and he specifically rules out taking Dara and/or Elaina only. Boomer asks Keiko if she knew of any other “Sword Worlder: problems that might occur, and she mentions Salazar might assert a claim to the baby. Boomer suggests everyone keep quiet about Yuri’s incident outside the family. Gabriel and Kira wander in and join in the conversation, during which time Boomer points out to all Kira will be in charge when he is not around – much to Gabriel’s consternation. .
After breakfast, Boomer wanders downstairs to meet Det. Marcus and discuss things, which also involves a meeting with The Three. Boomer escorts him back upstairs to the suite, and as he “debriefs” and “interviews” The Three he slips away to recharge his Matrix. After 3 hours of no real success, he checks on The Three. They are fine, apparently, so Boomer contacts Silverbolt and arranges to meet him at Varian Storage for some Over World training. He does so, and Boomer tries to train him concerning the ease of traveling to the Over World – but Silverbolt fails to do it and eventually runs out of energy and must rest. He and Boomer go to the Columbus and inquire if the ship knows about psi-enhancing drugs and can produce any. By an amazing coincidence, it manages to make 5 dart-ammo full of an enhanced version of the drug for Boomer to use.
Returning to the suite, Boomer mentions Silverbolt’s failed attempts to learn the Over World transition trick, and Kira suggests she will work with him. The family prepares to attend a local Grav Ball game in style. It is the Vland City Destroyers
vs The Havis Ruffians, and Boomer and group set up in a nobles box room. The game goes well, except the VCD, a much better team, mysteriously is losing to the HR. Boomer decides to help them, and finds he is being blocked by another psychic already “helping” the HR. Boomer toys with the psychic for a bit, until suddenly a sniper shot shatters the glass of their box and drops Keiko. Yuri, Haruhi, Dara and Elaina freak, while Boomer tries to spot who is responsible. He fails, so he sends Gabriel for security and medical help. Keiko almost bleeds out, so Kira rushes in and applies some old-world remedies to save her, applying a pressure bandage. Boomer asks Damos to “find the sniper”, so he does so at a cost just as security and the medics rush in. Immediately one of the medics is dropped, but Boomer spots the sniper and kills him with psychic assault. The rest rush Keiko to the waiting ambulance. Once in and underway, sticky bombs fly out of a concealed location and rain on them all. Boomer finds the perp, uses telekinesis on the bag of bombs, and detonates them. The ambulance head to Vland Memorial, but a black car ambushes it and tries to steer it off the road. After the window is rolled down and an assassin tries to shoot the ambulance with a weapon, Boomer is forced to utilize some tactics and kill him. In an attempt to try and stop them, he is finally left with the decision in the end to detonate the vehicle. They arrive at the hospital and Keiko goes into surgery, while Boomer calls Det. Marcus and leaves a message for him about what happened. Yuri and Haruhi go with Keiko up to her room when she comes out of surgery. Within short order Det. Marcus shows up and converses with Boomer over what all has happened. After a bit, the rest of the group returns to the TAS for supper and rest.
Next day, Boomer is up and watching the news. The headline story is about Vland Memorial and how it was set ablaze last night. Boomer can’t believe it, so he tells Kira she is in charge, grabs Silverbolt and heads to the hospital. He tries to contact Yuri, Haruhi or even Keiko, but fails. Once at the scene, Boomer goes into the Over World and works out a way to the room. Preparing his wits and skills, he drops back into Reality and moves into the inferno to save the girls. A quick trip to the Over World rescues them, and Boomer tells them to find a safe place while he returns to the carnage to “arrange evidence of their escape” then has them return to Reality so they can be “found. Once all that is settled, Silverbolt contacts him that the Three have been “found” and are on their way to Copper Medical nearby. Boomer and Silverbolt go to Grub In Route for a quick snack before joining then Three there. He removes them, and they all return to the TAS for rest and recovery. Kira offers to do a “Laran Transfer” to Boomer since he is having problems recharging his matrix.
281-282 Boomer wakes and all seems calm while everything chills and Keiko rests. Boomer catches up on the holo-vid news, while Kira takes Silverbolt out to help him train on his Over World stuff. Mostly the morning is detailed with Yuri and Haruhi going on-and-on over Keiko’s injury, while Haruhi hovers over Yuri because “she’s pregnant!!” Boomer asks Haruhi to finish working out the details of the data-stick and although she whines a lot, she eventually agrees to do it.
Boomer asks Gabriel and Yuri to go with him and do some recon of the TAS in the Over World. He calls for a merc to come babysit the suite, (Haruhi, Keiko, Dara and Elaina) and asks Rabbit to come along on recon as well. They all go to Varian Storage and camp out a bit. From there they go to the Over World, and Boomer spots a Tigra off chance. They portal-hop closer to the TAS and eventually spot the Aztec-like pyramid of a building surrounded by armed guards. Boomer spies someone appear, possibly a Zhodani by appearance, and enter the building. He decides to try and get closer, but when they do o they encounter a resonate hum and feel psychic wind emanating from the structure – plus they are spotted. By luck they manage to escape to another building a bit further away, and make a rag tag Marker which Boomer activates just as something or someone breaks into the buildings lower levels. The gang spots a Shimmerbeast, which apparently was sic’ed on them, so they gather up and leave. Back in the real world, they call for the TAS car to pick them up, and when it does they discover the Shimmerbeast has followed them again as it destroys the car. Boomer suits up in his Battle Dress while Rabbit activates the Ancient’s Assassin-bot. They move out to fight it and barely manage to dissipate it. Boomer calls for another car to take them back, helps Rabbit lock away the Assassin-bot, and takes off the suit.
Once back, Haruhi announces she has broke the data-stick, but hasn’t yet managed to penetrate the Family security net. Boomer checks out Vland’s version of “Google Maps” and researches the entrance location, before taking some time to meditate and work on some of his psi skills. Silverbolt and Kira return and she proclaims Silverbolt is as good as he’s going to get, declaring him trustworthy to be left alone in the Over World if need be, and just needs experience.
Next day Boomer wakes and begins planning the groups assault on the entrance of the Doom Vault, realizing there may not be a lot of time to spare. He divides up the party and orders some “adventuring stuff” as Haruhi works on the Family security net again. He has Keiko, Dara, Elaina, Red Alert and Air Raid perform various duties aboard the Columbus, plus standby as a possible back-up/rescue-crew. Then he assigns the rest to travel into the Doom Vault, and calls the Front Desk to order two cars again. One he loads with the crew going toward the Columbus, the other he loads with the crew going to Varian Storage. Once there, he spies Vland Authorities giving the place a good once-over, seeking evidence of their event yesterday. Boomer manages (somehow?) to sweet talk his way past them and load his stuff in the car before having it drop them off at the entrance. It is in a desolate, forgotten part of Vland City, and here the crew unload their gear and prepare to locate the entrance. They search for and locate the door to the complex, and open it to begin. They travel thru the stages in order —
Stage 1 is a hallway, filled with guns. They target and shoot to kill, but Boomer lobs a smoke grenade and manages to make an escape while they are befuddled.
Stage 2 is a hallway, occupied by a single Ancients computer. Boomer luckily figures out the code necessary to hack it, and Haruhi does just that.
Stage 3 is a hallway with what appears to be no floor. Yuri uses her Clairvoyance to locate the real floor and uses Telepathy to guide everyone across its void, leaving Boomer to Teleport back and forth across the void to rescue Yuri.
Stage 4 is a hallway with only a wall sealing the passage. Yuri again uses her Clairvoyance to spy the other side of the wall, and Kira opens a Dimensional Portal to allow everyone to cross thru.
Stage 5 is completely dark, with no lights. Boomer tries to light up the way, but they discover all sorts of lights are “snatched away” whenever they are used. Gabriel uses his Energy Kenisis to “lightning up” the way, activating some lights in the hall and allowing everyone to get to the other side and out.
At the end, they enter into a grand store room filled with every sort of thing imaginable. Boomer and crew start to move along the walkway when they spy a robot approaching. It swiftly engages them in what turns out to be the start of a long, ugly fight. At first they appear to be good at avoiding it and landing pot shots upon it, then Gabriel tries to use his Energy Kenisis on it but fails – and in a flash it manages to grab him and damage him. Damos notifies Boomer that, for the small price of a portion of his soul, he could stop the Custodian and get the info they needed. Boomer ignores him, and instead visualizes some Ancient speech instructions and tries to contact the robot to calm it down. Instead the Custodian becomes mad and turns on the crew with redoubled efforts, snatching up Haruhi – exposing her nethers for all to see. (this was apparently Yuri’s take away from all this?) – and damaging her. Damos again reminds Boomer of his offer. Boomer ignores him again and tries to roll a grenade under the robot, with questionable success, plus he attempts to utilize Damos’s cryokenisis with equally questionable success. Off and on at times he even tries psychic assault, with the only true outcome seemingly a depletion of his psychic powers. The Custodian knocks out Rabbit and Silverbolt, while Yuri locates the exit and calls for everyone to join her. Boomer shoots up with the psychic drug as Kira grabs Haruhi and heads toward Yuri while Boomer tries to grab Gabriel as well. Damos repeats the offer still stands. Again Boomer ignores him while watching in shock as the Custodian tries to toss Rabbit and Silverbolt into a Furnace, which Boomer stops, therefore grabbing the robots attention. In the end he is forced to grab up Rabbit and try to escape again, lobbing a grenade into the Furnace as he flees. The following explosion brings down the shelving as well as damaging the robot, after which has to shoot up himself and Kira so she can manage to pull one of her Time tricks to snatch up Silverbolt and flee. The Custodian catches up to her just before she escapes, grabs her and damages her then begins to haul her off.
Boomer gives in and agrees to Damos offer after the Demon continues harassing his mind. In a snap Damos tries to Control the robot (which he luckily does!) causing it to put Kira down and attempts to Interrogate it for the Orb (which he luckily does!) which it then brings to Boomer.
They all exit the complex and return to the TAS. Once there they discreetly gather their stuff, pay the tab, head out to swing by the Storage unit to get the rest of their gear, and head toward the Columbus. Thereafter, Boomer holds a debriefing scenario with those who are able to debrief, plus he makes sure everyone is who needs it are placed in the Columbus’s medical bay. Then they make a hasty retreat from Vland.
283-285 [A/H DRIVE]
While the ship flies away, Boomer tries on the “Orb” and receives blurry and hasty visions of “the future” involving a multitude of images, culminating in one. The last image Boomer receives is of Gabriel putting the last shovel fulls of dirt onto 2 unmarked graves standing before what looks like a “hobbit-like home” that is billowing smoke and flames As he watches the dirt flows and resets itself, then he shoulders his shovel and heads off to the Columbus to leave. Boomer takes off the artifact.
BACK ON ABRAXIS –
276-286 Bull awakens to the realization that fatherhood sucks, but what can he do? He encounters Cheri, who asks what they all will do? Bull asks her to check out the Inquisitors and see what they want done, so she will check with them and the others. The twins make Sam and Bulls nights hell, and finally Bull assigns Cheri to have the FC “watch over them”. Nothing much happens up until Boomer returns.
286-295 Boomer returns to Abraxix and gets seen by Devon as soon as possible, She freaks out on them all, but manages, and Bull meets them. Boomer reports on all to him, filling him in on all the important stuff and showing him the Orb. He admits to him using it once, and gives Bull a full, but censored, version of the vision that ensued. Bull in turn tells him all concerning him and the Zhodani, plus allows him to learn what he has on Skylar.
Boomer contacts the Emperess and arranges for him and Bull to come up to drop off the Orb. She offers to send a guard out, but he refuses for now. The two set off to her place with Yuri and Haruhi in tow to present the orb to Her Majesty. She is extremely pleased with them, until Bull reports it was all Boomer. She offers to repay him somehow, but he opt to keep that till later and bid their farewell, On the way back, Boomer asks Bull what it up with the FC and whats going on with them? He notes they are problematic at best but are going to train the rest in psychics.
That night Dee and Boomer discuss the birth, hopefully normal, of their grandchild. Dee freaks out a bit, but in the end accepts it. Boomer share with her the vision the Orb gave him and what she thinks of it. She doesn’t like it but is glad she has him, Kira and Gabriel back in one piece.
As time goes on by, Nathanial and Rachel are nearly 3 weeks old, and Kira is much older. Everyone, except Keiko. gets better as the days wear on by, with Space Marines guarding them during the day and Bull making plans for them at night. Eventually Bull asks Boomer to go to the Over World and check out the TAS. They do so and discover the psychic presence just like on Vland, They approach and introduce themselves, only getting shot and shouted at in a Zhodand-ish language. Boomer takes damage as Bull stands there till they finally cause him to snap, and he drops them all. Boomer comes out of hiding and heals them all as best he can, before Bull returns to reality and gather the Zenos Division of the Inquisition to search the place. Meanwhile, Boomer notices a few newcomers come out of the building, drag off the dead, and “retreat”. When Bull returns, Boomer tells him what he saw and they decide to enter and explore the whole place. Much to their surprise, the TAS is normal from bottom to top. Eventually they return home none the wiser,
Once back home Boomer takes Haruhi to the Columbus in an attempt to work out things on the computer. They come up with nothing, as the computer talks of the impossibility of something being more Ancient then the Ancients. Boomer points out that even the Ancients must have had a set of “other worldly beings” or an “afterlife” that they believed in. The computer admits he has a point, but because he is unable to reproduce that file then and there they are left with that information.
Returning home, Boomer decides to float a picture of Salazar around the house and the businesses, telling all if he shows up to contact the Abraxis Authorities. He details the Space Marine guard platoon that he would be willing to “look the other way” if Salazar got shot, and he might even reward the marksman responsible for it. Haruhi pull Boomer off to the side and tells him she has reason to believe Guido Salazar is Bull’s cousin, and might be a tad problematic.
296 On Abraxis all remains quiet and calm as the day passes, what with Keiko resting and Haruhi tending over Yuri constantly. Boomer decides to make a brief run back to Wolverine to pick up some spare mercs and robots to bring back to Abraxis, and asks all if they want to go. Silverbolt, Kira and Bull are the only ones who seem to want to go, so he sign them up on the flight list as the crew for the Columbus and they prepare to go,
297-300 [A/H DRIVE]
The trip isn’t nearly as long as expected, but it astonishing how dull and fast they all grow on each others nerves. It doesn’t help that Kira watches over them all constantly.
They arrive at Glisten in the frontier and manage to make it to Wolverine unannounced and unnoticed. Land at the Compound and immediately meet the mercs and Juni and all on hand. Boomer checks his emails, as does Kira as well. She also discovers unknown Chrono Disturbance metered on her ship which causes her some slight dismay. She finds it may be the start of the time/chrono displacements in this universe, or it may be the time police sweeping the area looking for her from her universe – she doesn’t know. The main fear she has is the universes are trying to replicate themselves in some fashion, which leads to Kira asking about Yuri and how she is doing. In Kira’s universe she admits Gabriel was a problem, but along the way she enlisted Yuri’s child as assistance to dealing with Gabriel. Yuri in Kira’s universe was “killed” or “kidnapped” by the Cybots, but in any event her child was kidnapped by the Cybots and raised as one of them until she got free from them and escaped to live her life alone till she met Kira. A Cybot infused child.
Boomer finds a local sporting event to attend on Glisten ad invites Bull to go. He agrees, but Boomer contacts the Countess first. He manages to connect with her, and undergoes a lengthy conversation with her about her child and what she had be up to in the Imperium. Bull listens in and offers quick one liners as Boomer undergoes the Countess brash tongue lashing, but in the end all seems well and Boomer promises to contact her later for further conversations.
They got to the sporting event where they notoriously get great noble box seats and Boomer gets beer for Damos. The opening act is a spoof on the End Of The Rebellion, with Bull and Boomer’s face large and in charge on the billboard. The Imperial Wrestling Organization show come on with everyone all excited as the real show begins. Damos cheers for all as he takes in points and Boomer nervously watches the crowd for any signs of trouble. Bull makes a variety of bets, and all seems well until Damos mentions the one “familiar face” in the crowd. Boomer notices the man now and discovers it is Dr. Death, The Family’s medical liaison, with no doubt guards. Boomer keeps a close eye on him, but he appears to be subtle and in the end he vanishes. Boomer and Bull return to their vehicle ad head for home, land and rest.
301-303 Next day, Boomer visits the Compound but finds no Bull or Kira there. He visits the mercs and enjoys his coffee. He does decide to contact Bull and see if he wants to checkout the Glisten TAS. He declines at the moment but advises Boomer to call if he needs aid. Boomer agrees and takes Silverbolt with him to Glisten as a “bodyguard” and they head out to contact Mary Kei for lunch. She is overjoyed and agrees to meet him at the SuSAG Industrial, the company pub. They meet up and Boomer introduces Silverbolt, then they chat for a bit while Boomer shows off pics of the coronation and even tells Mary Kei about his last trip. Silverbolt spies Dr Death on the shop, so he tells Boomer, and they rise to go. Dr Death unfortunately notices them and comes over to talk. Very suspicious, but he introduces himself at Emilio Champiro Blancs and offers to sit and talk. Boomer bids him adieu, and they head up to Mary Kei’s office where they continue their talk. Boomer tells her about Yuri “with child” and Mary Kei rants and is appalled, but calms down after a bit. Boomer takes a call from Kira, who warns him of a “double” following her and not to contact him.
He laves Mary Kei and goes up to visit Mr Kelzar for a bit. They chat and discuss the special helmets he has and would SuSAG be interested in them? He also tells Mr Kelzar of Bulls twins and such, and as Silverbolt sits aside they drink for a bit until Boomer decides they have to go.
They find a cab and Boomer decides to go visit his Mother for a bit and when he does he suspects his double has been there. He visits with his Mother and argues with her a bit but nothing serious and after a bit he decides to tell her about Yuri and her baby, He also mentions her “wives” and discovers his Mother is not too thrilled with that but manages to deal with it. He makes a call to Kira again, but only gets the voice mail so he hangs up.
The two head off to go visit Magda for a bit. He chats with her and mentions Yuri again, with the same outcome as his Mother. He is suspect they aren’t too thrilled with her “alternate lifestyle” but accept it for what it is and accept Yuri for who she is. Since it is getting late, Magda invites him and Silverbolt to stay for dinner, which they do, and chat most of the evening away until Boomer hes to go. Silverbolt takes them back to the cutter ad flies home to Wolverine, where they both find places to stay.
Next day awake and find some Compound coffee and junk, then go to visit with the mercs. He finds Rachet and Shipwreck and talks with them for a bit, finding Kira examined them and taught them how to enter the Over World a lot and they were confident. Mentioning Kira make him go back to the Compound and shift to the Bridge where, after activating to computer, he asks it to scan the planetoid for Kira. It tries but it can’t. He has it to an in depth scan to make sure all is working, and finds it is. He tries to go to the Over World, but the bridge there is alien and hard to understand, so he returns to reality and the Compound to find the translator and the Commend Suit just in case. Then he returns to the Over World and reviews the computer there with the same, miserable results. In the end he goes back home and finally head off to Glisten’s Over World where he can peep at the TAS a bit before deciding it is fine, but “off”. He returns home and contacts Bull and reports to him.
He gets Shipwreck and a length of rope, telling him he has an idea and they are headed to the Over World, but along the way he encounters Kira, who pulls a gun on him and demands to know who he is. He convinces her of his reality, and learns that “he” has come from another universe and followed her here and is looking to cause problems and he should avoid any contact with him. She promises to hold up in the Compound for now while he does his thing, but he should come back when he can. Taking Shipwreck he goes to the Over World and uses the rope to try out his idea, but to no avail. He goes back home and stops in at the mercs and settles in to watch some local news.
303-306 Boomer awakes and sits with the mercs and hopes “he” doesn’t show up,and he also waits for Kira. Eventually he decided to go to a local wrestling match on Glisten, so he nabs Heavy Duty and Breakneck to act as bodyguards. They take a cutter and travel to Glisten Arena and settle it. The show is boring, and Boomer decides to liven it up by choosing the underdog wrestler and inducing the “pollen rage” in him. He goes nuts, and kills several people before the guards and cops show up and put him down. The Inquisition show up and scan the crowd for signals, seeking psy-kers among them. They even come and scan Boomer’s Box to no avail, after which he decided to go to the TAS for a snack. Partway through the meal he spies himself come in and negotiate with the crowd before going into the casino, After a bit he returns, and just so happens to run across Domo, They talk briefly before Domo leaves, an the false Boomer also leaves. Heavy Duty notices him suddenly, so Boomer decides to leave. They return to Wolverine and Boomer gets on the PC and locates and downloads the Red Heart Hotel floor plan, plus studies the local block.
Next day Boomer is contacted by Kira who wants him ready to come to Glisten. He agrees and three hours later he arrives to find her confused and wanting to go back to Wolverine to get the DART. She explains that she needs the DART to set up a dimensional trap to pull the other-Boomer to Glisten and lock him down briefly. She points out the other-Boomer came from another dimension on the other side of hers where he and Bull still survived – but they weren’t nice. In fact, both were crafty and evil and found a way to come to her world, then when she left to come here they followed. She wants to send him back to her world where she isn’t for now. When they arrive, Boomer contacts Bull and informs him of everything as Kira recovers the DART, Then they go to Glisten in Kira’s world. Crossing the dimensions, Kira explains a bit to Boomer as they arrive. They land and unload the DART and find a warehouse to set up the device and set it up. Kira adjusts it and Boomer teleports them back to the ship and they leave with seconds to go. They return to the proper dimension and return to Wolverine, where it it dark. They rest.
Boomer wakes with Kira and readies the bots to loaded into the Columbus, along with notifying Shipwreck and Rachet. He spends the day cleaning the revamping as needed the Columbus and Kira is helpful as well. The air seems cleaner and more clear now, and Boomer likes it this way.
Next day they gather their things and prepare to go, waiting as long as he can for any last second messages to show. When they don’t, he leaves.
306-309 [A/H DRIVE]
Arrive at Abraxis where Boomer calls a car to come get them. Bull goes home to his kids, and Boomer, Silverbolt and Kira head home as well. Dee is thrilled to see them and showers Boomer with kisses, telling him everything that happened including complaining about Gabriel, but not importantly. Yuri, Keiko and Haruhi show up briefly, as does Gabriel.
311-315 Boomer has bad dreams and awakens for breakfast, having a simple talk with Kira as he does so. He mentions possibly getting rid of Damos without actually saying that. Kira acknowledges she needs to wait for the return of the Forbidden Circle to check with them. Dee shows up as usual and continues her discussion about Gabriel to Boomer as they eat. He acknowledges his son is a problem, and they also discuss the Imperium and what all it is providing them. He makes mention of how he is offering his services to the Empress, if she will take him up on it. They discuss Boomers Will and how it will be divided up between the 11 or so decedents he has. Call the butler over and discuss what all he needs to do, concerning his offering to work his necessary “schedule” plus Boomer asks the butler to locate various clubs and other activities for him to partake. Then, downing a mug of Dawn, he goes to see Gabriel and they discuss Yuri among other things. Gabriel suggests Boomer should enroll in the local college online he and the others attend. Boomer calls the college and arranges his classes and enrolls somewhat as needed. At lunchtime Haruhi comes by and, after a minor disagreement, produces the disk with the info on Akane she found. He makes sure to visit Yuri again and tells her about his trip home, and all the things he mentioned to her family. Then he checks out Haruhi’s disk and finds it mentions Akane only had a boy named Bernard Guiterez she put up for adoption on Glisten. How odd, because Boomer was sure she had 2 children. The Guiterez Family are Service Nobles that work on Glisten in a trucking system delivering various Textile Fashions, and are the top providers of SuSAG’s finery. Kira comes by to see if Boomer is too busy to talk to her, and they spend the rest of the night discussing Dimensions and such. Finally dinner comes, and Dara has fixed quite the meal for everyone. Keiko shows up out of nowhere, and after a quiet time she goes off to speak with Boomer. She explains she is unhappy with Yuri’s situation and wants his take on it all. Boomer talks with her for a bit, and they come to an understanding. Then before he goes to bed, he calls on Gabriel and Elaina, who is hiding under the sheets, and mentions he would like a previous notice if they will be skipping dinner and going out to eat. Gabriel “apologizes” sort of, and makes motions to go back to Elaina. Boomer sighs and goes back to bed.
Next day Boomer awakens to find Sebastian telling him of his request to the Empress was fulfilled, plus he has a listing of the events he was interested in. Boomer calls in Elaina to handle to paperwork and notify all the family members, most notably about the Grand Ball. He calls Gabriel and notifies him of his ideas concerning how he will make a larger impression on Abraxis nobility, and runs his ideas past him. Gabriel agrees, so he heads off to Dee. He tells her and she is fine with it all, only commenting on the styles of clothes she has. He offers to get her new clothes if she needs it, and heads to visit the 4 in their room. After he tells them of his plans, he makes sure to add Kira to the list of trouble. She is being left out because she need to watch Roza, which she is fine with.
Next day, they all pile into the limo and go to watch the Imperial Orbital Reentry League in action. The crowd gathered is massive, but Boomer finds a nobles box seat for his family as the event culminates. In the outcome one fellow dies, but Boomer reaps in a butt load of credits. All in all it is a good day, and they head off to the next event. The Wine and Cheese Tasting Festival is not as overcrowded, but still Boomer makes sure to be see and noticed by those it matter to. The Wine is tasty, and so is the Cheese, but none of Boomers choices tally up.
Nest day the limo ride takes them to the Spaceport where they can watch the Yacht Race live as it happens. Boomer eats and drinks a bit and watches the race live, but is massively bored the whole time. He makes a note not to return very often to these races
Next day the Grand Ball calls for everyone to get decked in their special clothes. Everyone dresses to the nines, while Boomer rates high on the appearance score. He introduces his crew to all the Nobles, making sure to fill them in on any details they may need. The Grand Ball goes well, and after a bit a Baron Miller of Dukh comes by to talk to Boomer. Dukh is a world in Ley Subsector over near the Hivers, and specializes in Textiles for the military. Boomer knows of it and in turn tells the Baron about his adventures with the Orbital League. Boomer notices Dara is with many different “dates” during the ball, while Gabriel and Elaina, along with the other Three, are enjoying themselves. Finally the time comes for the limo to take them all home for some much needed rest.
316-317 Sebastian summons Boomer to Court, so he wakes Yuri and Gabriel and prepare to go. They put on fancy clothes and go to meet the Empress. She meets them and offers the Shotto System to Boomer as a starting place for him. It is close and consists of Libart, a frozen military world, Massila, a temperate agriculture world, and Verge, a tropical tech world. She gives him a data stick with all the info on it he needs, and offers him a Close Escort for his use, if he needs it. He notes this and then bids her adieu and leaves. They go home and he talks with Dee a bit and thinks over his options. The data stick info points out there is an Embassy at the Star port on each world, and each world has one government along with answering to the Imperium. Haruhi, Yuri and Keiko come into chat some. Boomer has Haruhi make copies of the info for Gabriel and Yuri, and he informs both to look over the info for anything and be prepared for a review. Then Boomer notifies Dee, Gabriel Elaina, Yuri Keiko, Haurhi, Dara, Devon, Silverbolt, Air Raid, Shipwreck, Red Alert and Rachet and advise them all they leave tomorrow.
Next day after Boomer showers and such he plays with Roza a bit and chats with Kira. He advises her that she will be staying home again to watch over Roza, which she doesn’t mind. He sends an email to Bull to bring him up to speed, tell him about about the mission and such. Then he goes over the ship list gathering up all the necessary supplies and ammo and getting ready to roll. He notices the tank is at half mast, so he decides to stop off and fill it up to max just to be sure. Finally he notifies the crew that the ship and stuff is set and to report for duty.
317-319 A/H DRIVE
They arrive at the Vland system and top off the tanks. This involves a whole day of hard work by everyone in the crew, But Boomer doesn’t want to waste any time. Finally they finish.
321-323 A/H DRIVE
Arrive at the intended system and Boomer directs Silverbolt to the planet Libart star port to start with. Once there they meet with Liaison Chadwick and his Attache Pratt to guide them and give them a tour. Boomer asks for his luggage to be taken to the Embassy while they tour, and it is. The long tour of the factories linger all the rest of the day as Chadwick makes sure everything is up to par, as the Imperium wants it. At the end of the day Boomer and the gang go to the Embassy to settle down and rest. Boomer sends and email to Chadwick stating that he would like a meeting with the Company Manager tomorrow morning at 10, then he has Haruhi check up on all the records as to the possible reasons. That done, he switches the holovid on to a translated channel and scans the news for anything important, but find nothing.
Next day after awaking Haruhi comes to see him. She is sleepy but presents him a report telling how the Company started filling orders from The Family on the side a few months ago. Collect Gabriel and Yuri, set their communication devices to record and go to meet Chadwick and his new Attache Melina. She will be their translator, and they go to meet the Company Manager Sturgeon. Boomer, with Melina’s aid, talks with him about the Company past and their production losses and such. Sturgeon, with Melina’s aid, tells him all about what they have been doing. Boomer spends a Fate point and successfully scores big as he interrogate the Company Manager to perfection – but he suspects he is lying. Offhand he spends a small Scan Surface Thoughts on Melina, but all he gets is she, or Sturgeon, is rewording what is being said, He continues to interrogate Sturgeon, and comes to a conclusion he is lying. Or Melina is – unfortunately, when he tries to spend another Fate point he fails. The meeting is over, so he tries a psychic probe on Melina to see what she is up to. Unfortunately he fails in this as well because she is shielded against that kind of stuff, oddly enough. She looks over at Boomer and says something to him in Libartian. Out in the car, he questions the children what their thought on the whole thing was. Gabriel concluded the manager was lying, and Yuri concluded that Melina was. Either way, once they return to their rooms at the Embassy, Boomer calls the Front Desk and asks for an interpreter. Within seconds a knock at the door reveals Janovan who stands there awaiting orders. Boomer gives him copies of the data stick to translate. Janovan verifies the copy and says the info seems good, and is useful as well. Melina said something smarmy in Libartian at the end about how Boomer’s tricks wont work with her, but he takes the recordings to listen to them in full and translate them. He will get back with Boomer later.
326-328 Boomer awakes and sits back wit Dee and some coffee, Janovan shows up to talk with Boomer some about the recordings. From what he can tell Melina is trustworthy just shady at best. Boomer considers hiring Janovan if necessary, and puts Haruhi on the job of finding out more about Chadwick & Melina. He winds up talking to Yuri and Keiko and Dara over this, and in the end decides to call Chadwick and arrange a meeting around noon or so. He settles back to watch the holovid a bit.
Noon arrives and Boomer meets with Chadwick and Melina versus all 15 of his people. They all talk a lot and Boomer almost catches him in a lie, but fails by 1. Instead Boomer asks Chadwick of info about The Family, which Chadwick says Melina will send this afternoon. They leave and Boomer asks the Embassy for any info on the world in general and tells Haruhi to investigate it, along with anyone she needs.
That evening Boomer receives Haruhi’s report and reads it, along with Melina’s report. Haruhi’s report states a litany of idle info about the pair, but mostly it sings their praises, Melina apparently owe a debt to The Family and Chadwick knows this so he abuses her skills. Plus he’s not idle in his own account. Melinas report claims of all the people in The Family on Libart none stand out as much as Aluvar, the owner of the factory where Sturgeon works. He is a cold and uncaring man as Libartians go.
Next day Boomer awakens to think on the industry that functions to the Imperium as an ammo supplier. The main factory is Luka Industries, whereas they have several outlying factories such as Mendez Conglomerate. The factories are run and monitored by Aluvar, who has overseen and assigned blame to one David Chapman, A quick search shows he is leaving in a few hours from the Starport, so he gathers Janovan plus Gabriel, Keiko and Ratchet and head after him. They undergo a extensive search and retrieval operation but finally corner him in a back alley. There Boomer and Janovan talk to the man and find out some info they need in exchange for a trip to Massila. They power up the Columbus and head off, managing to make it to Massila’s Starport and home with little problem. Then they return to the Embassy, where they all go out to a restaurant Dee picked with Janovan in tow. It is a respectable outfit and Boomer and gang find the food tolerable and the service fashionable.
Come the next day, Boomer schedules a meeting with Chadwick an Melina to go over some details since the last meeting. He takes Janovan as well as Gabriel and Yuri to go meet them. He introduces Janovan to them and they talk. Chadwick seems less inviting as he was especially in light of Janovan’s presence and the details Boomer covers. Chadwick asks Melina to produce the papers Boomer asks for, which she does from her briefcase, and their talks finish. They leave and Boomer discusses everything with Gabriel and Yuri. When he returns home he gives his collection of info over to Haruhi and asks her to look it all up. Then he searches about for a local sporting event to go to, and finds one similar to Fight Club that he goes to with Damos for feeding. He takes Janovan, Gabriel, Keiko and Air Raid along with him, and they attend the festivities. Keiko is excited, and the evening is a blast with no one getting killed, as it were.
329-331 Wake next day with Dee and coffee. The Girls show up and talk with Boomer, as does Gabriel as Boomer watcher the holovid. Haurhi reports on Mendez Factory an how it seems straight enough, except for some side projects. Boomer calls for Jaovan to come to the room, and asks to meet the Head Inquisitor this afternoon. He is a gloomy old bird named Mykesh, and reportedly has no friends. That done, Boomer decides to take Dee, Gabriel, Keiko and Air Raid to the Overworld to view things there and make a marker. They go, and visit the TAS as well. Discover it is active, so after a brief recon they leave to build marker. By using a Fate point, they manage to get to build time down to 6 hours, but only work on it till about noon and leave. Returning home, they go meet Mykesh who turns out to be a tall, hoary old fellow all in black robes and gray hair with no time for anything. However, he turns out to be not too bad and gives Boomer a Data stick containing the info he requires. Return home and read it with eyes wide as he finds out what Libarts problem is. (as the Inquisition sees it) He reads it continuously till night until finally he switches it off and talks with Yuri a bit before going to bed and conversing with Dee for a while.
Next day, Boomer awakes to remember he hadn’t finished the Overworld stuff yet. He gathers up the previous crew and returns to the Overworld to continue working on the Marker. They work the morning away until they finish – just in time, as 2 Shimmerbeasts arrive to the party. They move away and they escape back to reality, only to discover Gabriel is trapped in the Overworld. He, Dee and Keiko return to the Overworld to find that Gabriel hiding, so Boomer calls for him via telepathy. This unfortunately draws the attention of the Shimmerbeasts, so Boomer tells the others to leave while he distracts the creatures. He runs and makes a wrong turn or two while the Shimmerbeast follows him. He runs for cover and flees the creature until Damos suggests helping out against the pursuit. Boomer agrees, and Damos does so and after a short while Boomer escapes it’s notice. When all is well he leaves the Overworld and returns to reality to rejoin his family. The Shimmerbeast follows him to reality, but the Authoritative Police of Libart deal with it. They return to the Embassy and decide on some shopping. Take a limo to a far off Mall and wander around for the remainder of the day until Boomer finds someone watching him. Carefully he approaches him until he accidentally surprise him and he start shooting. Boomer returns fire, and they move thru the Mall doing so until the guy gets away and Security shows up. There is a problem and words are exchanged, and for a bit they take Boomer and gang in for detaining until all is resolved and they are released. Stop by for some coffee and decide on asking Jaovan to arrange a meeting with Melina.
Next day Boomer awakes to breakfast before Melina shows up – alone. She speaks with him in broken Galactic explaining that she failed to save the Boss’s daughter so she owes The Family now and works – sort of – for them. The cost to release her from this debt is 3 mil credits, which she doesn’t have. Boomer thinks about asking the Empress for this as he bids her farewell, because Chadwick needs her.
332-335 Morning dawns and Boomer thinks on billing the Empress for Melina’s cost. He consider the pros and cons of the whole thing while getting ready for the day. He contacts Chadwick and arranges for a visit to the factory again, sort of a checkup visit. Chadwick agrees. He contacts Haruhi and asks her to hack the company records and find if there are any emails between Aluvar and Sturgeon, plus he asks Gabriel to go online and find some spy bugs he can buy, and asks Yuri to call the local cops and find out the info on the mall gunfight.
Time comes to go to the factory for his inspection, so he gathers Gabriel and Yuri and heads off. He inspects the whole place, and discovers thru Jaovan the missing ammo is right on schedule. After the visit he asks the kids what they thought, and Gabriel suggests a surprise visit next time. Boomer agrees, and when they return home he asks Gabriel how his purchases are going online. Gabriel replies fine, but Boomer thinks to contact the front desk and asks to borrow some “secret security bugs”. They agree, and Haruhi come in to report Sturgeon and Aluvar set up Chapman to “take the fall” for the company mistake. Dee asks Boomer to have a talk with Gabriel about the birds and bees with Elaina, so he does. Gabriel is sassy and short with him, but in the end agrees with him. Boomer talks with Dee.
Next day Boomer watches the news and makes his daily plans. Yuri reports on the local cops with no luck. Advise Dara and Elaina they will be trained on bugs this afternoon. Boomer grabs Keiko and takes her to the bank to do some banking work concerning his account and a Cred Stick with 3mil credits on it. Boomer asks Jaovan to set up a meeting with Melina for this evening. Then he gathers his special group and discusses the bugs and what have you as needed. Then they go to the factory again where Boomer plants bugs in Chadwick’s and Sturgeon’s offices plus a few other places. Finally they return home where they check the reception on the bugs, but find it all in Libartan.
Eventually evening comes as does Melina. Boomer tells her his offer to pay her debt if she will work for him. She agrees but tells him he must pay Akihito of the Family in person.
Next day all is well. Boomer takes Gabriel and Keiko as bodyguards to see the Family head, Akihito. He talks with him and pay Melina’s debt off with Cred Stick before leaving. Melina follows them home, where she apparently thinks Boomer has just bought her. Gabriel makes a rude and lewd comment about Melina, causing Boomer to backhand him and force him to apologies. Which, begrudgingly, he does. Concerning Melina, Dee is not pleased, and has a spat with Boomer. Boomer sends Elaina, Keiko and Melina off to shop while he goes and arranges roommate capacities with Devon. Then he tries to explain everything to Dee. She accepts this (sorta) ad all goes well enough.
336-337 Morning arrives and chaos ensues. Boomer discovers S&S finances was used “accidentally” to acquire Melina’s clothes. Thinking on Melina, Boomer set her to deciphering the notes from Sturgeons spy-cam while he types a quick report to the Empress explaining how they’ve done on the mission so far and what they’ve accomplished.. He also types a note to Bull telling him everything about the active TAS in the Over World. After a bit Boomer takes Melina outside on the balcony to talk to her about the Cred stick mix-up. Boomer thinks on Gabriel a bit and his relation with Elaina. Boomer goes to visit the Three and asks Yuri and Keiko to use Clairvoyance on Sturgeons office today. He realizes they don’t know Libartian but Melina does, so he teleports into the library behind her and surprises her, and asks her about her psychic powers. Boomer explains his idea and she agrees to help, if Boomer orders her, so he takes her to and introduces her to Yuri and Keiko (leaving Haruhi out!) and explains things to her. Boomer gets an idea and asks Elaina to preview beach resorts on Verge and see about finding on to rent for the holidays.
Boomer and Dee go to lunch, with Jaovan in tow. They have some chow and enjoy the atmosphere. They discuss Melina and the Family interaction, plus they discuss Haruhi some. Jaovan asks about Melina and says Chadwick is upset some at her change of employment. He also says she is an interest to the Inquisition. They finish and go home, where Melina indicates she wants to talk with Boomer. She points out the stuff in Sturgeons office is passe, except for one mention this afternoon of a meeting with a guy named Roderick. Boomer arranges for them to watch over it, and discover Roderick is, in fact, Aluvar, and he is upset over Sturgeon and his “missing” missiles. He demands the missiles replaced and suggests possible action. He leaves before Boomer can agree whether or not to kill him. Instead he spies on Aluvar’s home via satellite images and various plans and starts to make plans on visiting it for a long while, till supper when he goes to visit Gabriel and have a talk on whether or not he can help.
Next day, Gabriel goes to a local car dealership and rents a very nondescript plain car for Boomer as previously discussed. Boomer asks Devon to drive, and he also takes Melina, Red Alert and Keiko with him on the mission to Aluvar’s. Boomer bids farewell to Dee and goes to the Columbus for supplies before heading out. They cross the city and to Aluvar’s gate before parking past it and slipping out, leaving Melina with Devon. They go into the Over World and sneak into the estate, only to spy a gleaming Shimmer-snake in the house. Unfortunately, Boomer tries to sneak in and is spotted by the Shimmer-snake who moves to intercept. Boomer and the rest flee, and descend to reality and meet up with Devon before they high-tail it out of there. Boomer re-thinks his plan as they go home, and after at the Embassy.
338-339 Come the dawn Boomer has coffee and thinks a lot. He hears a noise it the other room, but when he investigates it he finds nothing. Haruhi wakes and comes to share coffee with him. He discusses The Family, bombs, and other organizations. He also discusses Aluvar and his home in the Over World. Both he and Haruhi hear a noise in the other room and dash to investigate it but find nothing. Elaina shows up and joins them. They talk, and Boomer decides to order breakfast so they do. Dara wakes and shows up to join in on the meeting. Keiko and Yuri show up and join the group, getting breakfast as well. Again they hear a noise, and Boomer has them use their Clairvoyance to see in the next room, again they investigate and find nothing. Gabriel wakes and shows up, grabbing some breakfast along the way. Boomer decides to go and wake Dee, and along the way, he spies a sudden plant just appear and drop to the floor. They think over things and make a decision. He tells everyone what to do. Dee goes to wake Devon and Melina, and gets them up and about to join in the meeting. Boomer has Elaina contact the main desk to get their room moved. She arranges it all.
Boomer takes Devon and Gabriel and they go to the Columbus to get some stuff. He also talks with the ship, and changes his mind along the way. He sends Devon to get Keiko, Silverbolt and Air Raid and bring them back. They all crew the ship barely and lift off to establish a geosynchronous orbit over the planet. With the ships aid, Keiko uses her abilities to locate Aluvar and track him down. Then Boomer shoots up his enhancement drugs and targets Aluvar and drops a major psychic attack on him, breaking thru his shields and killing him. Then, having solved the problem at hand, he orders Silverbolt to return home and land. They all return home, and Boomer watches the news with Melina translating.
Next day Boomer visits the factory and locates Sturgeon. He has Melina, Gabriel and Yuri with him as he does so. Sturgeon is uncomfortable but puts up with things as Boomer explains he would like to watch the missiles loaded. He does so, and watches as the craft leaves. That done, he goes back home and writes he final report to the Empress about his mission so far.
340-341 Boomer prepares to leave Libart and go to Massila. Along the way he has a briefing from Melina with the crew. She points out how the Massilians are a religious lot, and are picky. Their planet is known for providing a gossamer thin Dutonium crystal form of ignition switches that the Imperium needs to make their energy weapons capable. Lately the planet had been undergoing a crime spree damaging all manner of export to the Imperium of these switches. Boomer realizes he has his hands full, and they settle down at the starport. They meet the Ambassador Katriana, who shows them to their suite and advise if they need anything to contact her. Everyone in the starport speaks Glanglic, so that is a plus, but anyone out side it doesn’t. Boomer calls the kitchen for a traditional Massilian dinner, which they deliver with drinks and everything. All is well until they find out what the dishes are made of. Dog, Grass Clippings and…..Bread? After that no one wants to eat, so they go to bed.
Next day Boomer calls for Katriana to have a meeting. She agrees to come now, so Boomer wakes everyone and offers to have the meeting there. Katriana shows up and details how the shipments of the crystal are being robbed by pirates halfway to the liftoff point or the shuttle. She outlines everything the Massilians have done to counter these thefts, to no avail, and presents a data wafer stick with the info on it. Boomer decide to use the Columbus to go over the facts and see if anything clicks. He wants to review the mine and such, so Katriana suggests they all go to Adolf’s Shop and get some – normal – looking clothes and she will meet them on the afternoon.
After going thru Adolph’s Shop for things and clothes, and the females are ignored by the males, Katriana shows up an takes them to the mine. Via horse and buggy, a fancy getaway for this planet. Finally they arrive, where they meet the manager. He dismisses the females [except Katriana!] and leads the males on a visit/inspection of the facility, eventually winding up at the dock. Boomer watches the workers load the cart, then goes and investigates the phone poles one by one, and returns to meet up with the ladies and they return home. Boomer contacts Haruhi on the ship and talks to her about what, if anything, she has found. The ship reads that is possibly has discovered a psychic tag among the pirate appearances.
342-344 Dawn arrives to find a helter skelter Boomer, a sick Yuri, and a nagging Haruhi. He wells on the pirates and various things while the two make their morning runs. He has Haruhi go get Keiko up and have her join them as he goes over the days routine and assigns various jobs for the three. Then Boomer contacts Katriana to go see the shuttle port again, so he wakes Gabriel and gets him dressed. They meet the ambassador downstairs and ride with her to the shuttle port – about an hour away, They inspect the shuttle again and observe it in all manner as it is filled, then inspect it as it is launched. Satisfied, he returns to the Embassy for a bit. He talks with Dee over the pirates, and comes to a few conclusions concerning them and the possibility they are Zhodane, or in league with them. The Girls return with their info so Boomer goes over it for the rest of the day.
Next day Boomer goes to collect the stuff for the mini-bombs. He attempts to teach Gabriel Demolitions as they construct them, but fails so badly he give up on it for now. Instead he teaches Air Raid a bit. Then they go to visit the shuttle port again – an hour away. Boomer wants to get into the crates but he finds that he cannot unless they are un-sealed. The seal is applied at the factory and appears to be psychic or Ancients at best. Disgusted, they return to the Embassy and rest. They all have dinner and chat a bit before bed.
The next day Boomer sets his sights for the factory, and travels there – over 2 hours away. He inspects the crates and adds in the mini-bombs before the crates are sealed, then seals them and follows them to the shuttle. The shuttle launches and – amazingly – partway up is attacked by the prates. The cargo is stolen, and Boomer sets off the bombs in a stunning display of counter terrorism. The pirate ship goes away, and the shuttle finishes its job. Boomer goes back to the factory – only an hour away now – and sets up more crates with surprises. Then he accompanies them to the shuttle, watches them launch, and – sadly – it make it way to the High Port with no problem. Air Raid dismantles the bombs and returns all the gear to where Boomer can retrieve it. Then as the day ends, he returns to the Embassy and calls it a day.
345-346 Boomer is awakened by a large azz fight going off in the suite. Seems Gabriel and Yuri are having a fit, so he gets up and finds them. They are arguing over Yuri “apparently” spending too much time in the shower and making Gabriel late for “work. He settles the argument, kinda, so Gabriel finishes up his shower and heads off, in a rush. Elaina is awake, as is the Girls, so Boomer settles down to discuss conditions for Verger. He makes plans, so to speak, and then makes a call to set up a ride to the factory. Boomer has a plan, so he teaches demolitions and “bomb disposal” to the group, of which Yuri and Haruhi do the best. They are selected and go to takes the shuttle up to the High Port. Then he prepares to go, but gets a bad feeling about Gabriel and his new “job” so he passes by the bank where Gabriel was “working” to check it all out. It’s closed, and a psi-mind probe of a suspicious guy out in an alley reveals Gabriel and the rest might be up to no good. Boomer returns to the Embassy and grabs Keiko to help him and brings her along. Another survey via Keiko’s gift reveals what appears to be Gabriel helping to rob the bank, Boomer calls the Authorities and psychically contacts Gabriel and tells him to “run”. Detectives Stabler and Johnson show up and cause panic as they check out the plan, with no conclusions. All in all the Detectives show no interest till the van “leaves”, thus allowing Keiko time to try and contact Gabriel again, but is blocked. Boomer decides enough is enough and ascends to the Over World with Keiko to visit the bank, and visit the vault where they find an “Ancients Artifact” just as the gang tries to break in and steal it. There is gunfire and other chaos, so Boomer grabs the Artifact and teleports to the Embassy where he leaves the Over World. Talk to Dee about Gabriel’s “life of crime”, whereas she comments he’s just misguided, and on Warzburg he would either be ignored, or shot. Boomer decides to contact the Inquisition. Inspector Marcel shows up and Boomer talks with him before he summons a guard to claim the Artifact. Then he decides to forgo the factory for today, and watches the holovision till night. Gabriel shows up all dismayed, but won’t say why or what about and goes to bed.
Next day Boomer contacts the High Port for a brief report from Yuri. He talks to Haruhi a bit, and she wants to talk to Keiko. Boomer finds out the pirates struck again, so that is that. He tells Yuri and Haruhi they can come home, so the call ends. Boomer decides to change up his plans, and rests the day away.
347-349 Yuri and Haurhi come home, and Haurhi bitches about nothing so much that Boomer finally tells her “hush”. Keiko gangs up with them and tells them everything about Gabriel and stuff, and Haruhi wants to go wake him, but Boomer tells them “no” so they head off to the back to screw. Boomer sits down and types up a whole new section of the S&S Salvage Employee Handbook concerning part time gigs and part time jobs. Dee sips coffee with him, taking the time to tell the Girls to “pipe down” with their sex. Boomer finishes up he addition and sends it out, then calls Gabriel and “wakes” him to join him. Gabriel joins Boomer and reads the email, then talks some with Dee and Boomer before he goes to wake Yuri. There is a “fight” between him and Keiko, which for now he retreats, and rejoins the group. Boomer decides to go get Yuri up, and meets a barely dressed Keiko who passes the message along. The Girls get up and join the breakfast table, with comments to Gabriel. Boomer arranges a meeting in the afternoon with the Ambassador, and when it comes he takes Gabriel and Yuri to meet her. Katriana speaks with Boomer a bit about the pirates and their MO. She mentions Zervenaugh, a settlement known for their shady side and black market dealings. She calls for an engineer, Jolof, to come to their meeting and he and Boomer discuss what to do with the shuttles. Settle on an idea, but it will take some time for Jolof to fabricate it. Boomer and the others go back to the Embassy to wait for Jolof’s call that things are ready, getting dressed for the part. Jolof calls, and Boomer, Melina and Gabriel go with the part to the shuttle base, where they install it on the ship. Then they watch it launch, and the they wait for a bit until it amazingly get’s hit. The pirate vessel shows up at Zervenaugh. Boomer and the rest return to the Embassy and rest.
Next day, mail shows up for Boomer, so he studies it. From what he can tell, the Family is represented at Zervenaugh by a group called the Shiva, who are not nice people. The village itself has underground vaults, much to Boomers dismay. Boomer contacts Libart to talk with the Army Base Commander, Bilson. He explains what he wants, so the commander contacts him to Hanshaw, the Quarter Master. There he settles on some detectors to be picked up, then assigns Gabriel and Melina to ride the Columbus there and make the trade. They both are gone all day, but eventually they return with the goods, and Gabriel grabs Elaina and goes to bed.
Next day, Boomer assigns himself, Gabriel, Melina, Silverbolt, Red Alert, Shipwreck, Air Raid and Keiko to go on a trip. He spreads the counters among the 2 man teams, except Rachet, who is alone. Then they all gather up in carts and head off to Zervenaugh, where they are all mind linked by Melina when they get there. They go to an inn and get rooms and lay low., except they get lunch from the local sites. Then they divide up and wander out into the market to search, but find nothing all day. They return to their rooms and rest.
350 Morning dawns and Boomer is up, trying to come up with some coffee for breakfast. He manages hotel coffee, but that’s all. Keiko awake and joins him, wearing shorts and a t-shirt only. She looks for coffee, but as Boomer explains their problem Melina awakes and joins them, wearing PJ’s only and a robe. The three of them discuss breakfast a bit until Gabriel wakes and joins them, fully dressed. He immediately starts arguing over their clothes and such for a bit as well. Boomer finally advises them all to go and change for the days activities, plus he fixes his own clothes as well.
The gang goes down stairs and locates where the closest Police station is. Directions in mind, they head off into the town an eventually locate the Police station. Once there, they chat with the desk officer until it becomes obvious they want the discuss the Shiva, then they are assigned to Detective Wilhelm for further information. He talks with them a bit about the crystals, and they manage to find what they want, including the best place to go next. The three of them follow the directions and manage to locate a shop where they enter and meet an old shopkeeper. He is nervous as hell, especially when they start asking about the crystals. He becomes convinced they are Shiva, and as such becomes very rattled. Boomer uses his psionics on him and ramps up his nerves to the point of nearly driving him mad. The shopkeeper offers Boomer a shipment of crystals, but Boomer has other ideas.
They go out in the marketplace and Boomer calls for Ratchet and Keiko to meet them. He assigns Gabriel and Ratchet to tail the old shopkeeper while he, Keiko and and Melina stride thru the marketplace. The duo dash off to locate the ole shopkeeper while the other three go into the marketplace, looking over all the shops. With Melina hooking them all up via psionics, they wander for a while. Boomer finds a shop with some homemade dolls and handpicks one for Rosa. Their traveling over, he decides to head back to the Inn and rest.
Once there, Boomer asks Keiko to use her psionics to spy on the Black Market some more. She agrees, but then he suddenly receives a mental image from Gabriel that he and Ratchet are on the run being chased by the Shiva. Almost at the same time, a gang of two Shiva break into their room and assault them. Chaos ensues as Boomer shouts out orders to everyone and takes position. A brief gunfight happens, and Silverbolt get’s shot, before Boomer teleports out behind the two and kills one causing a freak out among the other. He offs him as well, and then tells Red Alert and Melina to come with him and go help Gabriel and Ratchet. He mentally sends a request to the two to try and ascend to the Over World and hide out there. They leave and transverse the marketplace, but in the end a gang of Shiva arrive and attack them. They find a place to hide, then they all ascend into the Over World where Boomer locates Gabriel and Ratchet. They rejoin and Boomer opens a portal back to the Inn, where they all descend. Since it’s late, Boomer sets up guards and they all settle down for an uneasy sleep.
351-352 Morning dawns and everyone enjoys the temporary black water that is called “coffee”. Melina shows up and discuses a strange dream she had that seems much more like a psychic impression of a star ship undergoing various details than anything else. Boomer orders more pots of coffee and breakfast as the whole room wakes and settles in. Then, those that can, change clothes to head out. Boomer gets an idea and has Gabriel talk with Keiko and give the impression on the place he and Rachet ran to/from the other day. She agrees to give it the ole telepathy trick and locate it, then she tries to scan it also, but is surprised to find he is blocked out. Melina tries to break thru the shield, but she is overtaken by surprise and psychically assaulted, causing her arm to be broken and Red Alert has to care for her.
Boomer makes a decision to go back to the Columbus via the Over World, taking Keiko with him. Together they transfer their way to the starport, and Keiko gets to spend some happy time with her wives again, who are overjoyed to see her. Boomer talks with Dee some, and then finds Dara and Elaina and talks with them. He also contacts the Embassy and arranges for a new translator to appear at Zervenaugh by tomorrow. Finally, he goes in the back and calls for Keiko to “get dressed, we gotta go.” After a moment, a very embarrassed Keiko shows up with an apologetic Haruhi and Yuri in tow. They go down to the front desk and catch a ride to the Columbus, where after a brief talk with the ship they fill two large backpacks with 2 Lbs of C4, 6 detonators, some IR goggles, Boomers Sub SMG, his Psi Sword, and lots of ammo, including about 40 rounds of HE rounds, Gas rounds, and Tranq rounds. Boomer asks the ship to fix him up some of the Psi Enhancing drug to take, which the ship tells him it wont be ready till tomorrow. So the duo leave their backpacks, along with Boomers mortar, by the door and go back to the Embassy. Both are overjoyed to spend the evening with their spouses, and spend the time “bumping and grinding the night away”
Come the dawn they fill up on coffee and head out. They retrieve their junk, including the Psi Enhancer, and try to head home via the Over World. They barely manage to do it. Once there, they show off their loot and Boomer makes plans. Around about lunch time a Mr Koloth shows up, an interpreter from the starport, and Boomer invites him in. After lunch, he goes over the police records on their data stick and chats with Melina about it, before he interprets the finding. Seems it is a listing of names and locations, of which three seem to connect to a single place, with an address and a single name – Demos Jafar. He also ID’s the local shopkeeper as Pejoy, a local businessman with strong ties to the aforementioned Shiva. Boomer plans on going and visiting him.
353-354 Morning arrives, and Boomer takes Gabriel, Keiko, Koloth, Shipwreck, Air Raid and Rachet to go see Pejoy for a talk. The meeting is less than appreciative, and in the end Boomer is forced to drop off his charge of C4 and gives the word for everyone to go to the Over World. Koloth panics, and Boomer tries to calm him down, but then notices a Slitherbeast coming to investigate the explosion so he opens a portal across the town an they all escape. Back at the hotel, he continues to calm poor Koloth’s nerves while explaining to Dee and the rest what all happened.
Boomer gets an idea and have about a dozen or so signs made up, then he pays to have one placed in the Black Market. He then make an appointment with the Ambassador and talks with her a bit. In the end they wind up arguing a bit, then Boomer goes home. He contacts Dee and hes her put Elaina on the job ordering some stuff for Boomer online, along with Haruhi examining various bits of information – who grouses a bit but agrees. Night falls and they rest.
Next day the group enjoy breakfast and enjoy the setting. Boomer watches TV as best he can, looking for anything “interesting”. He spies a notice that Pejoy’s pawn shop “mysteriously” detonated, and he gets the idea to send Gabriel, Koloth, Air Raid and Rachet to the city hall to look for maps. They are gone for most of the day, and Boomer contacts Haruhi again to have her look at the security camera pics of the Zhodani pirates, to enhance them and maybe make some wanted posters. She agrees, and tells him of her findings, including the location of a “second power grid” hidden in the Black Market.
Gabriel pops up with news for Boomer about a location in the Black Market that details a “special use”. Melina goes to he Inquisition to make her report, along with Boomer and Red Alert to watch her and make it official. She explains her psychic assault to Inquisitor Omar, who listens intently. After the meeting, Boomer gets a cab driven by Peringy and goes home. Boomer tries to call Gabriel, to no avail. So he tries to contact Rachet, and only receives a odd voice answering the phone. Panic sets in so he gathers up Melina and Keiko and goes to find him. He calls Peringy and soon he is there, but his cab is to small, so he has Peringy contact another cab and follow them. All of them go after Gabriel, including Shipwreck and Red Alert. Once there they confront the duo, who are hiding while a mob of Shiva roam the streets. Boomer uses his telekinetic and pulls a fire alarm, causing widespread panic. Nothing matches the chaos that ensues when Boomer mistakenly yells “Fire!” in Galactic rather than Messilian, although the crazed happenings allow Gabriel and gang to escape. Boomer and his crew bulk up and leave rapidly, with Gabriel’s gang following them, and all make their way back to the hotel where they rest.
355-356 Morning dawns as coffee and breakfast arrive while Boomer spends his morning deciding on what to do with the day and how to deal with the Zhodani and Shiva. Boomer has Gabriel search for any spaceport permits on his PC. Contract Katriana and obtain permission to do a fly-over Zervenaugh from her. She agrees, so Boomer contacts Dee and asks her to bring the girls out to the ship. Then he gathers Melina, Keiko and Silverbolt and goes via the Over World to the spaceport. All gather at the Columbus and have a gleeful get together until Boomer says time to go. Take the Columbus out and do a little recon for a bit. With the help of the computer they locate the power grid lines, plus the lifter as well. As they wait, the pirates try to take off, so Boomer has the ship fire on the power grid and drop the ship, crashing it. Now he contacts Omar and Gabriel and requests both their aid pronto. They both arrive after a short time, while a firefight ensues from the wrecked ship. Boomer sets a nearby crate on fire as bullets fly. All is going well until telekinesis grabs Inquisition members and flings them. Boomer takes some mercs to the Over World and moves to ambush them on the run. Koloth is a big help, unexpectedly, and Zhodani officers move in to fight. One officer, the Zhodani Captain, uses his power to bend Boomer’s arm back to his head. He detaches the limb and is forced in using the Cheri Mark on his forehead to eventually drop the Captain. Keiko is dropped hard, so Boomer kills all the Zhodani available. Then they move into the Black Market for medical supplies to fix her, but they fail. Dee suggests locking her down till help arrives, so they do as the Inquisition takes her to a nearby hospital. Koloth buys a set of clothes for Haruhi and Dee to wear as a disguise, which they do and go with her. Boomer and Dee go to the Over World to unlock Keiko as they take her in the hospital, and Boomer feels weak. He is wracked by three waves of pain, mirroring the uses of the Cheri Beam he had to use. After the second one, he tells Dee what is up and how he might have to flee to the Over World. They all spend the night in the waiting room waiting, as Boomer has a fitful dream of Wanda and their “better days”. Damos has a field day with Boomer.
Morning comes and everyone waits with baited breath. Dee wakes Boomer and is greeted with growls and disgust. Finally around noon the doctor comes out and announces Keiko is ok. Haruhi calls Yuri and has an argument with her, while Boomer contacts Devon and asks her to come to the hospital. Haruhi goes into the back to visit Keiko, as pain washes over Boomer. He holds it off as he argues with Damos, who suggests to end it all he should kill Dee. Boomer denies this, and he struggles with Damos more. Haruhi comes out from her visit with Keiko and comments on Boomer, who suddenly develops the urge to kill her. Bit by bit the urge to kill raises in Boomer, and when Dee talks to him he suddenly transcends to the Over World. After a bit of peace and quiet, he is startled when Dee appears beside him. Crying out in horror and rage, he forces open a portal to the Warp Over World and runs there.
Time rolls on by as Boomer lives and hides in the Warp Over World. He hunts and feels overcome with rage at his family, only occasionally wondering what they are up to. He travels all over the place via portals, dodging various beasts and intrigues. Eventually, when enough time has passed, he takes it upon himself to return to the Over World, and from there back to reality. At Vland.
Once there, he checks himself into a hotel and starts reacquainting him self with the world. First off, he powers up his hand comp and discovers that 350 years has passed while he has been gone. A quick rundown of his family shows Dee died/committed suicide when he was declared dead. Yuri, Keiko and Haruhi left to found their own business after Dara and Elaina accidentally died in a freak starport accident soon after Dee was gone. Gabriel was the Viscount now and alive in the heart of the Imperium, away from everybody else. Kira had disappeared after Dee died, and was out of the record. Rosa supposedly died about 200 years ago, but recently news was she had been spotted around Warzburg. Deciding on expanding his search, he checked on his past. Bull was killed about 100 years ago on a suspicious Inquisition mission, and Studd was supposedly alive and well on Wolverine, although S & S Salvage was kaput. How Studd managed that one was unknown to Boomer, since Anagathics was outlawed well over 150 years ago. He decides to check up on the rest of the family, and discovers they are all dead. Reports indicate the girls company was doing well, all things considered, even though Boomer felt their website was questionable, at best.
Making a decision, he gathers up his stuff and ascends to the Over World, the ports to Wolverine, then descends into the Eagles Nest. Once there he surprises the girls with a welcome. All appear as they did when younger, except Haruhi is ½ cyborg now. They greet him as he notices the Eagles Nest is a tad different in makeup now. They talk and play catchup, with Boomer explaining he had a run in with the Zhodani and that severe mental trauma explained his whereabouts for the last several years. He notices the girls are still kicking and asks how they pulled that one off, but Yuri explains there plenty of time for that later, not to worry. Boomer asks about her child, and he learns Yuri lost her child from the Family after she was born. He expresses grief, and goes to a room for some rest.
A couple of weeks pass and Boomer does his best to “fit in” and not bother the girls while they run their company. Apparently they manage Roppommatsu from home, and it has absorbed S & S Salvage’s customer list as well. Boomer makes an effort to contact Studd in his old home across the lake and visit him. It is a charitable occasion full of news and such. Boomer learns the Countess is dead, killed by her husband who then committed suicide. He also learns Studd doesn’t think much of the girls or their company, and advises Boomer to keep on his toes. He asks Studd how he has managed to survive without Anagathics, and Studd tells him of a substitute pill that manages to do the same, but not be as involved as Anagathics. The thought in his mind drives him to go to Dee’s grave and visit it. He finds Dee, Dara and Elaina buried in a special 3-tier tomb where he can visit them all. While he is doing so he receives a vision from Dee, who appears to him ghost-like and, when he runs to embrace her, she vanishes. He pays his respects to them all and returns home where he is grilled by the girls, who consider him daft. Haruhi not so subtly recommends keeping the tranq gun handy “just in case.” Given all that has happened, Boomer decides to visit the Over World and hide his rings in the safe.
A couple more weeks pass and Boomer gets chancy over needing something to do. During this time he overhears snatches of phone conversation that activates he overly sensitive paranoia, but dismisses it. He talks to Yuri and she awards him the Captaincy of the Bandelo, a Roppommatsu freighter running good about the Glisten system. He goes to the ship and meets the crew and heads off for Radius, the nearby planet in the Glisten system. The ship is fast, per se, but Boomer notices it is rather heavily armed for a freighter, plus the crew, almost as a whole, are creepy. But all goes well and the ship docks, with the cargo loaded and transferred into the Bandelo. One crate hums mysteriously, in a military-grade-style-of-way, but Boomer can’t find a good reason to examine it, so he lets it be. Boomer is excited, but he continues with his mission and returns to Glisten, then home.
Once home, his communicator lights up with an incoming call. It turns out to be Kira!! She sounds like she is in trouble, so after verifying a few bits of info she promises to come get him and drops off. He then encounters Haruhi who ”grills” [talks to] him a bit about the mission. She provides him a DVD of information she prepared just to help him answer any questions he may have. Then Keiko shows up and hauls her off, leaving Boomer to think of what all has gone on, and where Kira is.
A couple of days pass and Boomer watches Haurhi’s DVD so he can learn the history he missed. It is brash and explains a lot of stuff, especially Haruhi and her condition, plus about the various suicides across the Imperium. It covers the important stuff as well, filling in a lot of blank details for Boomer. That said, Boomer takes off and heads to Planetoid Wolverines bridge and asks it about Dee’s ghost. It notifies the girls, without telling Boomer. He does a bit of searching about and finds interesting info on how Dee could be a ghost, when Haruhi shows up and admonishes Boomer before taking him home. Once there, Keiko and Yuri give him and the Bandelo a job, ferrying junk material. Basically, it comes off as a job only the Roppommutsu company can handle, but Boomer thinks of it as “weapon transfer”. Still, he figures he will put his all into it, for his daughter, so he goes up to the Bandelo and settles in with his crew. It is a short jump to Tamara, a nearby world where he will pick up the “junk”, and then ferry it to Glisten for “disposal”. All in all, Boomer thinks poorly of the whole mission, but carries thru with it. Along the way, he checks the internet for information on the his son, the Empress and Kelzar. Both are alive and well, per se, and Kelzar is dead. This continues until about 2 days into his return to Glisten when he discovers one of the containers has breaches, and it’s either sacrifice a crew member or dump the cargo. Boomer decides to dump the cargo, much to the crews delight but, when he comes home, Keiko flips out on him. Yuri and Haruhi are equally as mad, but Yuri at least understands why he made the call. Keiko and Haruhi continue to grouse about it, so Boomer grabs a bite to eat and goes to bed………supposedly. Instead he transcends to the Over World and grabs his rings from the Tower and takes them to the bridge, where he asks the Planetoid to scan them and make some copies so he can send them as decoys out into space. Then he goes home and goes to bed.
About a week passes, with the Girls still pissy. Boomer decides to leave them a note and go to Warzburg, searching about for info on Rosza. Once there he acquires a room at the Inn and visits the bar to ask questions. He learns that a female matching his description comes by every evening, and is expected in a bit. Later that evening she shows up, and Boomer meets Rosalita Ardais, what appears to be his….daughter. They talk, and Rosza explains that after Dee “died” she was raised by Yuri, until she “died”. Then, the Cheri “raised” her from the dead and placed her in this body, to repay some debt they felt they owed Boomer from the past. Currently she lives with/is raised by Lord Yamma Ardais, and has a wealth of info especially about Cerebum, an Anagathic knock off that is available on Warzburg.
She invites him to live with her at her house that she “inherited” from Dee. In the midst of all this his communicator buzzes, and it is Kira. She tells him to be careful of things or he will get killed, and warns him he is at a point where the time lines diverge – one with him in it, and one without him in it. Thinking on it, she realizes she needs a way to locate him. He decides to wear his rings again, and she agrees to search for their signal and promises to see him soon. He leaves her and gives his farewell to Rosza and goes home, where he discovers a few days has passed. The Girls are still pissy, and he realizes Keiko failed to mention his note, so they squabble with him. He tells them of Rosza, and her past, and deals with their incredible disbelief. But he mentions they should keep her unbelievable lifestyle a secret. He retrieves his original rings, and discovers they are heavier than normal. Returning, he questions the Girls on who all might have been in the Over World, with no reply, so he reluctantly takes Haruhi to the Over World bridge to make the ring copies. His plan is to set up the copies on various trips across space thru the mail system. Haruhi helps him get boxes from home to mail his decoys, then he goes about setting them up on the decoys, and visiting worlds to mail them, and does so before returning home and retiring.
Come the dawn Boomer text’s Kira about the decoys and promises to wear the original. Keiko oddly enough comes up to him and asks him about the rings. Haruhi must have run her mouth off about it all. Keiko leads him to the family room for a “meeting” with the Three. He talks with them and offers up his hidden stash of Kiraseth as a repayment for his debt. Keiko takes it off to examine it, and Haruhi in turn offers up him for their “hit squad” against The Family and describes what to Boomer sounds like a suicide mission. But he agrees and sets out getting details. Apparently the target is the lead assassin one Fiona Foster and all of her bag of tricks. Boomer asks for help doing this mission, but Yuri gives him grief and bulks until Boomer convinces her to help. Keiko returns and claims to “stuff is good and worth a lot, and will clear his debt with the closure of the job”. Boomer finds this questionable, at best, but says nothing.
After the meeting Boomer goes to visit Dee’s grave, wondering how long before he is beside her, and visits Dara and Elaina also. Kira shows up and Boomer is overjoyed to see her. Unfortunately, Haruhi shows up as well and she isn’t happy at all. The three of them have a tense talk, and Haruhi pulls her gun and fires as Boomer and Kira teleport away. The duo manage to get into the DART and pilot it into the time vortex, but Kira is suffering and, after explaining to Boomer about the “ancients seed” she found ages ago, dies. Boomer freaks and uses the seed, ecstatic to find it regenerates Kira who wakes up and controls the DART into the present.
359-360 Land the DART on Massilla and exit. Boomer and Kira go into the Over World and thru it to Zervenaugh where they meet everyone. There is much rejoicing and Boomer is thrilled to see everyone. He and Dee “catch up” during the night, and he tells her everything and then some. Then they do it again. And again.
Come dawn they all meet up and have breakfast together, then they set about paying the tab. They all transport thru the Over World back to the star port where they bid Kira farewell an get the rest of the team on board the Columbus. Then they are off to Verge, and on the way Boomer gets online and verifies their hotel reservations. Once done, they land and head to their hotel were they check it, find some dinner, and rest.
360-364 Spend a day or two resting and enjoying the resort. Awake to fun and frivolity. Gabriel awakes and calls the front desk to complain about the “wake up” music that is being piped onto their suite. Boomer gathers Gabriel and Yuri and goes to the Embassy to get details on their mission. They meet Lady/Ambassador Kiotep, a delightful woman who talks with them, and Boomer realizes quickly she is wise and resourceful and knows a lot. Seems like the mission brief said, the situation is that Verge designed a ship that they offered to the Imperium, and when the Imperium agree to buy it, Verge “suddenly” found something wrong with the design and recalled it. The Imperium was annoyed and agreed to buy the ship ‘as is’ but Verge wasn’t having it. So the plan is to “appropriate” the design and return it. Boomer suggested he see the plans, and she agreed, after a brief “pause”, but announced it might take a while. The trio agreed and, gathering their things, left and went home. Boomer has Haruhi check the PC for info on Rohovan, the government owned company that seems to do everything.
Come the morning, after breakfast the group head off to visit Rohovan. There they meet Burnadette, a lovely woman who is a wholesome employee of the company and talk with her. She agrees to show them on a tour, and they see the inner workings of the government owned company first hand. When all is said and done, they return to the hotel. Boomer asks Melina to find a legal expert, either on the streets or in the Embassy. He also asks Haruhi to crack Rohovan’s PC code and find where the plans might be. He also learns that a former employee of Rohovan, Julia Malik, might be availabe for conversation if they can find her. Then he, Dee and Rosa go shopping. They flit about the resort till way late before coming home. There they find Melina and Haruhi, relieved they are back and in one piece. Come to discover Verge is run by one government, who has no sense of humor, and the penalty for anything going against their laws is death. There are Death Squads and Death Bots all over the resort at night, and the laws are very strict. You can break them by asking the wrong question, or going into the wrong place for the wrong reason. It’s amazing they haven’t been terminated already for the things they’ve done and the questions they’ve asked. Boomer feels very out of place and makes plans to contact the Embassy and get a room.
In the morning, Haruhi comes and wakes boomer to give her report that Malik takes her lunch daily at a local res truant. He gets up and arranges for the crew to move their belongings to the Embassy, which they manage to do. The whole suite gets up and collects their stuff and they go to the Embassy and check in. Then Boomer gathers everyone up and they go to the restaurant and settle down to wait for Ms Malik. When she shows up, he buys a lot of wine for the tables around him as a present, and offers to pay for her meal also. She comes over to meet him and politely refuses both offers. He invites her back to the Embassy to talk, and she, unwillingly, agrees. Once there they discuss the ships plans and such things. Malik agrees to tell of the offline location of the vault where Rohovan stores their PC stuff, and maybe a bit more, if they agree to get her offworld safely. She agrees to go to Abraxis and live if necessary. Boomer agrees he will see what he can do for her and thanks her.
365 Awake and ask Yuri to go to the Over World and perform some clairvoyance. She goes and tries and succeeds, but triggers a psi alarm across the establishment. Malik comes by and delivers the plans, then invites everyone to come to a local restaurant for the Holiday. Boomer spends the rest of the day reviewing the datastick plans and learns a lot about Rohovan, its vault, it layout and security and its operations. Death Bots and Death Parties abound, according to the notes. He contacts Silverbolt and describes what to do with Julia on the Columbus and how to watch over her. He also talks with Melina about her staying with her brother on Verge. She assures him she will be fine, so he writes her a letter of recommendation and see her off. Then they go to the Holiday dinner and enjoy their time till late, then they return to the Embassy and go to bed.
