The way things were (7)
001 The holiday comes and everyone celebrates in the Eagles Nest as gifts are exchanged and merriment is made. Dara fixes the family a huge meal as a present, while the remaining Girls give out their own brand of presents. Boomer receives a communique informing him that the Countess’s ship encountered Cybots out near Trin’s Veil and fought them off but wound up crashing in the desert and would he go investigate? He agrees and starts making preparations to go there.
002-005 After the holiday, Boomer receives a communique from the Imperial Mandate who tell him he has a choice – bring Elaina to them, or they will come get her, but it is time for her to take over as Heir. Boomer agrees to bring her there, much against Elaina and the Girls protests, and they make ready to take a Cutter to Glisten. Fly there and drop off Elaina into the waiting arms of the Imperial Mandate, then head to the TAS for some lunch. Mary Kei contacts Boomer and comes by for a visit. She offers a late holiday present to Yuri – a complete ALR system and offers to wire her up, if she will drop by SuSAG labs later. After lunch they all head over there, and Yuri goes into surgery for a bit. Damos takes this opportunity to try and “contact” Boomer, and in the altercation Boomer shoves Dara out of the way, throws Keiko across the room, and even Haruhi tries to shoot him with a dart. Dee decides to put Haruhi on Tranq Gun duty in case there are any more problems as Damos tries again and again to control Boomer – who, in the end, has to teleport away to escape. Dee contacts him, and later when Yuri is up and about he meets them back at the Cutter and they return to Wolverine. Once there, they prepare to Columbus for traveling. Boomer selects Silverbolt, Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Devon, Rabbit, Bull, Stegal, Heavy Duty Rojet, Ouzo and Gravv to man the ship. He also attempts to register the ship in Bulls name, as a part of S&S Salvage – and it takes a massive usage of Fate to make it work. But it works and they head off to Trin, arranging for the Emeraldus to follow them.
006-007 [A/H Drive]
007-012 TRIN’S VEIL
Arrive at Trin and make proper docking requests to leave the ship in orbit. They all crew the 2 Cutters [the Kon Tiki and the Erikson] and descend down toward the planet, leaving Silverbolt and Rabbit to guard the ship. They scan about and locate the wreckage, out in the desert, and Boomer has Yuri use her gifts to spy into the ship. Boomer uses his own gifts and teleports into the ship, only to discover a Cybot team is apparently investigating the wreckage for survivors. Boomer contacts Bull and asks him to “distract” the Cybots while he he gathers up the worst hurt survivor and teleports to the Erikson. He drops them off before teleporting to the Kon Tiki and asking Bull to supercharge him. Then he returns, only to discover the Cybot team has moved in on the part of the ship where the survivors are. He has a brief fight with them, and only Fate manages to allow him to win the day, so he grabs onto the other two and ascends into the Over-world. He contacts Dee and has her come get them, then he guesstimates where the Countess is and returns and find her. He gathers her up and saves her, beating a hasty retreat in the Cutters back to the starport. There he locates a hospital and put the Countess into their care.
013-015 Boomer contacts Yuri and the girls and tells them to report back to him. He also visits the survivors and makes sure their “story is straight” concerning the rescue. Trin Authority shows up and stake out the Cutters, so when Dee and Boomer show up they take Boomer into custody. They ask all manner of questions and interrogate him before they toss him in a cell. Boomer demands his “one phone call” so he contacts Dee and talks with her. He tries to contact Yuri telepathically but alarms ring and he learns Bull has commandeered the other Cutter and left with it. Boomer quickly goes into the Over-world and calls for Dee to join him. Se does do with the Four and they make plans before Boomer heads back down to the downport. He calls for Yuri to help him scan the interior of the Erikson so he can teleport into it, but she fails, so he gets Keiko’s aid to distract the cops on the landing ramp so they can do it. She yanks off her top and distracts them, giving Boomer and Yuri the chance to teleport into the Cutter’s bridge. Once there, they set up a center point for Dee to retrieve Keiko and leave the Over-world with the Girls and enter the Bridge. Then Boomer just flies off and returns to the Columbus where Bull spaces the Trin Authority guys and they all return to Glisten.
016-017 [A/H Drive]
Once they return to Glisten, Boomer reports to Elaina and fills her in. Then he settles in at home. Elaina contacts Boomer later and sort of explains everything, then makes a request for a face-to-face tomorrow, so he tells the Girls to pack up and they make a trip to Glisten.
Once there they make a long, diversionary trip around Glisten toward GINA and meet up with Elaina. Along the way, Damos tries and tries to capture Boomers soul, and in the end Keiko has to knock him out in order to stop it. Elaina hosts them and entertain them and tells Boomer they must stay for dinner because her Daddy wants to meet him. They meet Count Hortalez, who is thankful for Boomers aid and as a reward “promotes” him to Viscount, working for him. He grants Boomer a ring as a symbol of his rank, but later Boomer notices it has viewing-ports in place of eyeballs.
Boomer takes it upon himself to go visit Mary Kei and they talk about the ring, and Damos, and what both might mean for him.
022-024 The semester starts anew and the Girls begin their classes anew. Boomer receives a contact from Count Hortelez about a job on Mithras reclaiming a computer core from one of his old computers that information indicates someone else is accessing. He grants Boomer all the information he will need, including passwords and a monetary grant, so Boomer reviews all that. He has Haruhi do a check on the computer over all of it while he arranges his crew list for the Columbus. Him, Dee, The 4, Devon, Silverbolt, Rabbit, Rojet, Stegal, Flint, Rachet, Air Raid and Tralfaz get loaded and go.
025-026 [A/H Drive]
Once at Mithras, they obtain the proper authorization and take the Cutters down for inspection. Only Boomer, Dee, Dara, Haruhi, Keiko, Rachet, Flint, Rojet and Tralfaz go down. They borrow an ATV and head off to the Hortelez Shipping building, encountering convicts along the way. The ATV is damaged, so Boomer goes out but fails to fix it so he calls Ratchet out to complete the job. Eventually they reach the building and Dara takes Haruhi’s place in the turret as another group of them prepare to enter. Encounter the Iron Fist members and have a fight in which Tralfaz is damaged and they have to leave him behind. Meanwhile they maneuver to the stairs and descend to the basement. Find the computer and remove the core. Cross the room and ascend back up to encounter more Iron Fist members plus Beamers working. Boomer devises a plan for Rojet to move the ATV into a spot where they can make a break for it and get in. The ATV escapes, but the ATV is damaged again along the way back to the Starport. Rojet has to park it and Boomer goes out to cover Rachet while e repairs the vehicle. Both are wounded, but they escape and limp back to the Starport. The medics take Boomer and Rachet in for aid, and they are hospitalized for a few days. Finally they are released and Boomer has to make Tralfaz self-destruct to protect his technology from the wrong hands. That said and done, they return to the Columbus and head for home.
031-032 [A/H Drive]
Arrive at home and relax and heal. Boomer plans on hanging around till he feels they would have returned via normal jump drive, but the next day the Count calls and requests a face-to-face. He talks with Boomer about the mission, so Boomer gives him the Core, and the Count pays him. Boomer asks how the Count knew he was back, and the Count explains it is part of the rings functionality. Then he asks questions about how he did it, and Boomer has to tell him about the Columbus. The Count is pleased, and mentions now that he understands he has some special jobs Boomer can handle. Boomer stops in and talks with Elaina a bit and then heads for home.
034-038 Boomer detects a lessening of Imperia, so he goes and checks on the Girls. They seem to be ok, and a call comes in for Boomer from Elaina. She says her Mother is coming home and Elaina would like for him and his crew to come to GINA and “be with her”for the big moment. Boomer asks Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Rojet, First Aid to go with him to GINA. They arrive and meet with the Countess for a bit. Boomer also talks to the Count for a bit.
Then Boomer receives a contact from the Imperial Medical Div concerning Edmond’s body and would he come to Regina and collect it as next-of-kin? Boomer rushes over to Magda’s house and visits with her and Emily for a bit. He learns a bit about Edmond that he didn’t know before, like his acquaintance with a Prof Ujinka on Regina and her studies. Mary Kei comes over to visit, and she decides to stay when the rest return to Wolverine.
038-040 Once there, he checks up on Regina and has Haruhi check out Prof Ujinka. She gives him a report. Boomer goes to visit the Bridge, and has a talk with it. He has it examine the Ring, and discovers it is a locator device along with a signet device. He gets a data stick and loads it with some throwaway info to give the professor as a bribe if he needs to, along with a medical tool. He talks with the Bridge about the Robot Factory on Marastan and the possibility of making HoverBots. He brings Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Devon, Silverbolt, Shipwreck, Rachet, Rabbit, Live Wire, Hound, Red Alert, Air Raid with him aboard the Columbus to Regina via Marastan.
041-042 [A/H Drive]
Upon arriving at Marastan, they spy the IAS Rigid in orbit delivering a team of Imperial Archaeologists. They dock at the Highport and descend to a beach hotel where they settle in for a bit. Boomer applies for the necessary permits while everyone else relaxes with swimming and other fun. Boomer retrieves his permits and the next day they scan the local foliage with the HoverBots making sure to avoid the Imperial Archaeologists.
045-047 The gang enjoy one more day of fun at the beach hotel as Boomer examines the recorded HoverBot info, then they pack up and leave for Regina.
047-049 [A/H Drive]
Arrive deep in Cybot territory at Regina, which is crazy with traffic plus a whole sector fleet is in orbit. They receive a special landing vector and soon are at Regina Highport where they meet Pallid Norrim, a POC officer who takes them to his office. There he gives them their case opinion of Edmond and the details of what happened. Boomer and the gang head planetside to the TAS hostel and settle in. Boomer lightly questions the staff, and intercepts a letter that was sent to Edmond but he wont get it. It is from Prof Ujinka and offers a meeting for Edmond. Then Boomer and Dee go to the Morgue in Credo City and check out the body. After identifying it, he arranges to have the body moved to the Columbus and retrieves Edmonds personal effects. That evening he receives a call from someone claiming to know stuff about Edmonds death and arranges a meeting tomorrow night at The Flotsom, a dingy bar.
Next day Boomer and Haruhi go and check out the bar. Boomer decided to call in a couple of Mercs from the ship to meet him there later, “just in case”. Later that night, Boomer meets Detective Odoy there and learns Oday suspects Ven Yasha, a local crime lord of the Ine Givar [known as The Family on Glisten] of Edmonds death, plus the corruption of the POC. He also detects there are some individuals following and watching him, but Boomer has to teleport away before they make their move. It set off alarms, but Boomer avoided any suspicion and apprehension.
Next day, Boomer has Haruhi hack Edmonds comm unit for Prof Ujinks number and contacts her and arranges a meeting. Later, he receives a comm call from Pallid Norrim who tells him the POC had discovered Edmonds likely killer, a small-time tusal smuggler named Darrian Jak, and they are dropping the case since it is solved. Boomer thanks him for their effort and keep his opinions to himself.
Next day, Boomer and Keiko head out to visit Prof Ujinka in the nearby Dancado Region where she lives. It is a reserve owned by the Duke of Regina and very posh, but Prof Ujinkas house is like a museum/warehouse. They meet and talk with her, learning several bits of info until a odd power surge cuts off all electronics in the estate, including Boomers cyber limbs and Keiko’s gloves. Then, seconds later, Prof Ujinka is shot and assassins burst into the house. Boomer grabs Keiko and teleports to the car and Keiko drives off. After nearly running over various things, the car is stopped by an assassin so Boomer and Keiko go to the Over-World, open a portal, return to the TAS and drop out in an alley. They returned to the room and told everyone to pack up, they were leaving. He also contacted Devon and asked her to do an autopsy on Edmond.
054-055 Devon completes the autopsy on Edmond and gives Boomer her report.
055-057 [A/H Drive]
Back at Glisten Boomer contacts Magda and tells her to get ready. She gathers her things and heads off to join up with the Columbus and goes with the gang to Alell.
059-061 [A/H Drive]
Along the way Magda asks to see Edmond’s body, and sobs with grief. Boomer talks with her about Edmond and learns some things. When they arrive at Alell, Boomer, Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Rachet, Hound, Live Wire and Magda go down to the planet. There they undergo what passes for a customs check by the officials and Boomer and Yuri are both required to wear a khaki colored oversuit with lighted pith helmets to prevent contamination. Once past that, Boomer sets about acquiring transportation to the funeral in Vaca Goya and encounters a shuttle pilot named Rao. She agrees to take the gang and their stuff to the little village deep in the jungle, and along the way tells what she knows about Edmond and his antics.
Eventually they make it to the village of Vaca Goya, and meet Porter Sajan who instructs them to bring the body into the great hall. There they meet several other representatives for the event. The Pastorkovic branch, [Edmonds direct family] the Jocell branch, [a offworld group] the Parads, [a local crime lord Edmond was in debt to] The Brotherhood of Humaniti, [an order of monks who claim Edmond was one of their members] and finally Arisa. [a woman who claims, with proof, Edmond was her hubby] Magda is even more upset at this, and then Porter Sajan talks with the gang about the reading of the will, Boomer discovers neither he nor his sister has any idea where it is. Tomas Pastorkovic suggests Edmond’s old hunting lodge might have a copy, and Porter Sajan asks the gang if they will go search it. Boomer contacts Rao and requests her service once again.
That evening Rao arrives and takes Boomer, Dee, Keiko, Rachet, Live Wire, Hound and Bard Jocell out into the jungle to a distant spot where she drops them off. They set about hacking and slashing their way thru the jungle, dealing with plants and animals of all varieties, until finally they come upon the lodge. Opening it, they enter and start to search it, finding an old computer and several shelves of Ancients research along with a collection of gear as well as a copy of the will. They also acquired some illegal weapons from Edmond’s stash. They also find a hidden hanger under the lodge with a hidden starship in it. Suddenly, a full squadron of Imperial Space Marines land and start demanding their surrender. Boomer activates a secret defense system and obliterates a few Space Marines thus starting a full on battle. Boomer and Keiko man the turrets and take on the Space Marines, but Boomer has to use his Psychic Assult to drop one of them. Dee powers up the ship, punches a few buttons, and barely escapes. Boomer instructs her to fly low thru the jungle canopy in order to try and scrape off Space Marines. She was skimming over the surf while trying to turn around and flee back to the village when the Alahir, an Inquisition starship just in orbit, dropped down upon them and demands a full surrender. Just then the sensors reported something huge was entering the system, bigger than anything Boomer was familiar with, so Dee hit the gas, activated the jump drive, and left for destination known.
Traveling thru jump on the Star Hunter the gang explore the ship and check out all it holds. Boomer and Keiko meditate and work on developing their psychic powers for a bit.
The destination of a distant world is reached and the Star Hunter glides out to the gas giant Komesh to top off the tanks, just in case. When they finish, Boomer contacts Yuri via telepathy to check up on her and Magda. Seems the remainder of the funeral went off without too much of a hitch, and her and Magda got away just before the Inquisition settled down after chasing him. He asks her to bring the Columbus to him so she agrees. Boomer does a sensor sweep of the area and almost locates something in the gas giant. After pressing the issue for a bit he finally discovers what appears to be an Ancient’s ship in the clouds. He tries to contact it, with no success. He also picks up another sensor target from one of the moons, so they head there. Live Wire settles the Star Hunter into a stable orbit and they scan the surface. They locate what appears to be a ziggaraut site down on the moon, so Dee and Boomer take the Air Raft down to explore the site.
There they locate the ziggaraut and find a portal atop it. They pass thru it and wind up on the Ancient’s ship in the gas giant clouds. They can observe the gas giant up close as they recon the vast upper deck, discovering various places like a house, a barn, and what appears to be a map room. They also find another ziggaraut and what appears to be a way out. They return to the Star Hunter and rest a bit while Live Wire moves them back to the starport.
There they restock food and life support and then return back to the moon. Then, gathering a larger gang this time, they return to the ziggaraut and go back to the ship. There they explore around thru the lower deck a bit and find some interesting stuff before Yuri contacts Boomer and tells him they have arrived. With great relief Boomer and the gang return to the Star Hunter and go out to meet up with the Columbus. Boomer is delighted, and has a long discussion with Magda and Yuri.
076-079 Travel to the starport and attempt to sell the Star Hunter for cash. They search about the surroundings and locate a local who is willing to buy the ship for 200MCR fully stocked. Boomer agrees and they return to the Columbus and head out to visit the moon again. At just that moment the Inquisition ship, the Alahir, shows up and starts chatting with the Columbus. Then a HUGE ship shows up from nowhere and intervenes. It destroys the Alahir in one shot, and turns on the Columbus. Boomer leaves and heads to Becks World. Along the way the ship “communicates” with Boomer and explains who/what that HUGE ship was and why they should avoid it.
079-081 [A/H Drive]
082-083 BECKS WORLD
Arrive at Becks World and go down to the planet. Boomer, Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Rachet, Hound and Live Wire head out and find a bar where they mingle, looking for information. Find some info and head out to find a Varger named Guarrvil, but they encounter the Thanes instead. Due to a stroke of bad luck they fight them, and are injured. They return to the Columbus where Dara, Keiko and Live Wire stay to rest. The others go out and find Guarrvil and get him to take them to the dig site. Once there they find some lights and enter the cave to descend to try and locate the archaeologists. They climb/fall down the stair formation toward the bottom, and unfortunately encounter some thugs there looking for the same thing they are. They locate Juni Vosglass and her assistant, and talk with her before Boomer has Dee and the others sneak out via the Overworld while he teleports himself and the other two to the mouth of the cave. He calls for the Columbus to come pick them up.
084-085 Stop at the starport to pick up supplies and such. Boomer checks starnet and discovers the HUGE ship at Boughene disappeared after it destroyed the Alahir. He also receives an email from his lawyer, so he contacts him and finds out their accounts have been released and they are basically free of worry. He decided to take Magda home along with himself.
086-088 [A/H Drive]
Arrive at Glisten and drop off Magda, then Boomer heads for Wolverine to make a report to Bull. That done, he returns home and they all take some much needed R&R. After a day or so he contacts Mr. Kelzar and gives him a report. Mr. Kelzar makes a deal with Boomer to buy some of the junk he salvages, and tells him to offer Juni Volsang a position with SuSAG if he encounters her again. Boomer agrees, and heads back home to arrange a crew list for his return back to the derelict ship. Boomer, Dee, Yuri, Keiko, Haruhi, Dara, Silverbolt, Rojet, Devon, Rabbit, Rachet, Hound, Air Raid, Shipwreck and Slingshot prepare to go to Boughene.
092-093 [A/H Drive]
They go to Regina. Contact the University of Regina and try to get a hold of Juni but discover she isn’t back from Becks World yet. Leave a message and head off.
095-096 [A/H Drive]
Actually once they arrive they make a bee line for the moon over Komesh. Silverbolt, Slingshot, Air Raid and Rabbit stay on the Columbus as the rest gather to go into the ziggaraut and onto the derelict. Once there, they recon the wreckage. They find a variety of rooms including a store room and a hanger big enough to dock the Columbus. They also discover, to a small degree, how some of the teleportal system works and even some of the Ancient’s equipment. After a while, they decide to return to the Columbus and rest.
098-099 Rest and regroup. Devon learns what she can abut Ancient’s physiology. Boomer reviews his actions and sends a report to Bull and Mr. Kelzar. He also has a “heart to heart” communication with the ship and asks some questions about various findings. Then he sleeps.
Next day, they group returns to the derelict and moves on to the lower levels again for further exploration. They locate a room with shuttles in it and practice with them. They even travel outside the ship and examine it from the outside. Boomer locates some damaged rooms and also a weapons system room, but not the weapon. Eventually Boomer finds the Bridge to the ship and enters it. Boomer sits in the command chair ad learns about the reason for the ships current position ad condition. He also learns about the Cybot virus running rampant in the computer. He has the ship rise up to skimming depth so the Columbus can dock with it. Afterwards, Dee notices “something” running rampant behind Boomers eyes and thru his psyche. Boomer finds the control panel and opens the docking bay doors for the Columbus, just as the virus tries to kill them. Boomer takes Devon down to the Low Berths to see if she can awaken the crew, but in vain. He also tries to get the ship to help open them, but in vain. The virus lets some of the gas giant lifeforms into the ship and they attack Boomer, but he takes care of them and returns to the Columbus.
100-104 Boomer makes sure to explain to Dee and the girls they are not to “link up” with the Columbus, or even Planetoid Wolverine, in any way psychically. Then he maneuvers the derelict back down into the Gas Giant to hide. Dee tells Boomer she is pregnant, and he reacts well. He tells the girls and the rest of the crew, all who are excited especially the girls. Boomer talks to Devon and discusses the Virus and how they should deal with it. She offers a series of tests to be conducted later after Dara’s late night breakfast. They eat and report to the med bay for the MRI’s. The MRI’s show nothing until Boomer starts using his Psi-talents, and then the MRI discovers the Virus. Devon finds there might be a hiding place for the Virus in Boomers wafer-jack and suggests possibly removing it. Boomer decides not to go down that road just yet and they talk about the possibilities of uploading the Columbus’s anti-virus program into the derelict. They rest, and when he awakens he gets Devon and communicates with the Columbus’s computer and finds out he can upload a copy of the anti-virus into the derelict but they will have to go with it to fight the virus. Boomer asks for volunteers (not Dee, though) and the girls all volunteer. (Shock!) Taking Devon, they make their way to the Monitoring Room and find an access into the computer. Devon activates the upload, and they all join it, but not before Boomer reluctantly agrees to take Dee along.
Once inside the derelict computer, they encounter a series of rooms with 2 doors and they proceed to find a rout thru them. They find some virus-bots, and fight them, and move on. After a bit Yuri uses her clairvoyance to find the direction they need to go and Boomer figures out how to wrap this all up. Boomer is weakened and wounded, since he has been absorbing the brunt of the majority of the attacks, so Dee and the girls “power up” his psyche and Dee heals him. Then they encounter more virus-bots and have another fight where Dee is wounded. Boomer decides to create some explosives and simply TP to the center and drop them off. He does so, but they must all return to check on the effect. Discover 4 of the virus-bots survived, so they all go in balls-to-the-wall and engage them. During the firefight Keiko is dropped (killed?) but they wipe the rest out and Boomer destroys the virus. Then everyone recovers Keiko’s body, have poor reactions, and they make their way out.
As they awaken they discover they are cleared of the virus, as is the computer, but Keiko is still in a coma. Boomer contacts the Columbus’s computer and finds information for Devon concerning Ancients medical knowledge about comas and he formulates a plan to help Keiko. Rest.
Next day, Boomer takes Rachet and Rabbit and they set out to work on the derelict so it can start self-repairing itself. It takes a few tries over and over, but they finally succeed on teaching them how to do it. So Rabbit and Rachet set out to repair the self-repair system, and afterward Boomer sets up a teleportal link to the bridge and the Columbus, then he has the derelict move to a higher orbit, drop off the Columbus, and return to hiding. Then they all head for home.
105-107 [A/H Drive]
Travelling on the Columbus, Boomer and Dee are excited and happy, while Yuri and Haruhi are sad and depressed. Boomer and Dee discuss the possibility of Rabbit creating a special baby-carriage and discuss names. When they arrive at Glisten they take Keiko to the MedBay where Devon can watch over her.
Yuri and Haruhi stay with her, while Dee and Boomer go back to the Eagles Nest where Boomer checks up on his mail and stuff. He contacts Mr Kelzar and makes a report, admittedly only including the nifty stuff. After the fact, he realized he let slip Mary Kei had been doing research on the Columbus. Then he contacts Mary Kei and his Mother and tells them both the good news, also giving Mary Kei a heads up about the possible slip to Mr Kelzar.. Then he contacts Senator Keigaro and reports to him about Keiko. He suggests moving Keiko into GINA and says he will arrange for Devon to join her there if need be. Boomer contacts Yuri and advises her of the Senator’s idea, and discusses his own ideas. Boomer then contacts Bull and asks for the blue crystal so he can call the FC. Boomer goes to the compound to meet Bull and pick it up. Bull asks Boomer to see about constructing a shifter in his house. Boomer agrees, and then contacts the FC and explains Keiko’s predicament and requests for their presence. They agree to show up, and Boomer then contacts the Countess to discuss off loading the frozen gas giant creatures, but winds up talking to Elaina. She talks with Boomer about returning to S&S Salvage, but Boomer reminds her she would need her Mothers permission. Elaina says she will wait a month or two till her 18th birthday then.
The FC shows up and check out Keiko. They announce Keiko is bi-soul, and they might be able to help her but there is a risk. Also they talk a bit with Dee when she reveals the good news. At Dee’s request they do a Revealing, and discover the sex of the baby will be a girl. Yuri and Haruhi both agree to help wotk on Keiko, so they all form a circle and first pull Keiko’s souls apart and then put her back together. It works somewhat, and Devon moves in to finish up Healing her.
Now that the crisis is somewhat abated, Boomer makes plans to return to the derelict. Kasa requests to join, and Boomer agrees but tells her she must have some training. Meanwhile, Yuri, Haruhi and Dara decline to go, desiring to remain with Keiko. Also Kasa says Dee should not go. Boomer readies a new crew list for the Columbus while also retrieving a bottle of champagne to celebrate several things. Yuri and Haruhi contact the Senator and give him the news.
111-116 Boomer creates a new crew list for the Columbus, including Silverbolt, Kasa, Dio, Rachet, Shipwreck, Rabbit, and then get’s a call from SuSAG. Mr Kelzar requests Boomer come to SuSAG to meet and collect the team, so he requests the Artifact with Damos in it be moved out. Mr Kelzar does so and Boomer meets Mary Kei, Dr Chu, Dr Shaw, plus 7 other scientist/techs. They show up with their gear ready for the return trip to the derelict, which Boomer has dubbed the Masumoto, and he also takes the time to have the Mercs deliver a crash course on Vacc Suit usage to Kasa and Dio. On the return trip back to Wolverine, Boomer talks with Mery Kei and brings her up to speed. When they return, Boomer has Mary Kei and her team go on a meet & greet with everyone else, and has a debriefing about the derelict. Mary Kei in turn explains what all SuSAG has discovered about the Shimmersuits. Boomer also finds out Yuri, Haruhi and Dara have left with Devon and taken Keiko to GINA, so Dee, Kasa, Dio, Mary Kei, Dr Chu and Dr Shaw have dinner.
Next day, they haul the cargo and assorted stuff up to the Columbus and load it in, also transporting Mry Kei’s team up to it so they can get settled in as well. Boomer checks out Kasa and Dio on their Vacc Suits and discover they are sufficient for the moment. Mary Kei rcieves a contact from Mr Kelzar telling her The Family has made a hit on the location they hid Damos at and stolen the Artifact. She reports this to Boomer, who is not happy about it, and also takes the time to explain how the Disintegrator Pistols work with the Shimmersuits.
Boomer contacts Yuri and advises her about The Family and how they are on the move again. He suggests contacting the Senator and get him to pony up some guards and such for GINA and them. Then the Columbus departs.
117-119 [A/H Drive]
Arrive at Boughene and head to the gas giant, Komesh, to step thru the teleportal an enter the Masumoto. They bring the derelict up to a level where they can dock the Columbus with it. Mary Kei and her team unload their gear into the cargo bay while Boomer shows of the ships stuff to Kasa and Dio. They search about the storeroom and discover a Command Shimmersuit [blue stripe] plus a Repair Tool. Boomer conducts them on a full tour of the ship, eventually winding up in the ruined Armory where the Black Globe Generator is located. Boomer has Kasa use her Clairvoyance to peek inside the Globe, and within seconds she is screaming and flailing about as the Globe “shuts off” and reveals a silvery mist like orb hovering inside it. It moves so fast it seems to vanish, and Boomer has everyone get out. They all escape and Boomer, while wearing the Command Suit, returns and manages to reset the device. He discovers Dr Shaw is overshadowed and there is a brief fight that somehow Boomer manages to survive. Rachet helps Boomer regain his strength with the aid of a highly illegal Zhodani drug called Liqui-Psi. Boomer rests a bit, and when he awakens he discovers Dr Shaw has attacked and killed 2 of Mary Kei’s unarmed team as they sought for more Command Suits. Deciding strength in numbers, Boomer organizes Mary Kei, Kasa, Dio, Dr Cho and the rest of her team to go with him, while outfighting as many as possible with Disintegration Armbands.
121-122 Realizing the storeroom is too massive to search on his own, Boomer decides to head to the Bridge and check with the Computer about a Cargo Manifest. He also questions the ship about its operation and layout among other things. Learns about a Crew Quarters deck and an Engineering deck. He sets up the remote interface with the Computer so he can talk with it anywhere. He queries the Computer about the Servitors and the use of the portals. He goes to the Portal Room and attempts to set the portals on the Crew Quarters deck inwardly to trap Dr Shaw. Then using Mary Kei’s aid he alters the PSI of the atmosphere in the Crew Quarters to hopefully affect Dr Shaw. He also has the Computer activate a ship-wide Psi Dampening field, making all the Psi’s feel sick. Having decided on a plan, he has 2 team members continue searching the storeroom while he places guards on the Portal Room, the Servitors, and the Weapons Room.
Armed with a map of locations, Boomer returns to the storeroom and recovers the Engineering Shimmersuit [red stripe] and explores its worth. Then he takes it and Rabbit and goes to the Engineering Deck to work on repairing the Blue Suit. The duo explore about the deck, and discover a Electronics Toolkit and some odd clothes.
Next day, have breakfast and set out for the Masumoto bridge where Boomer discovers the Masumoto’s sensors cannot locate Dr Shaw. Fearing the worst, Boomer has the Masumoto move to the other side of the planet while Boomer devises a plan for catching Dr Shaw. He takes Kasa, Mary Kei, Rabbit and Dio and set off to the Crew Quarters to search for Dr Shaw. He finds a huge crew space, along with Galley, plus a Medical Bay, plus an unconscious Dr Shaw. They capture her and take her back to the Columbus and put her in one of the Low Berths. Boomer wonders where the Demon left to and is hiding at.
Deciding to show the SuSAG members that the Engineering and Science parts of the ship were on one deck, Boomer and his gang return to exploring the whole deck. Boomer queries the Computer about the Deck and some of its usages. Returning to the Columbus, they discover another dead SuSAG member causing Boomer to check on everyone’s whereabouts. Rachet thaws out Dr Shaw so they can stuff the Low Berths with the bodies.
123-127 Boomer questions the Columbus’s computer about the scene/time of the crime, and who all was involved. Discovers Silverbolt was/is the most likely culprit and most likely houses the Demon. Boomer takes Mary Kei, Kasa and Dio and confronts Silverbolt, but he resists so the group fights. Mary Kei and Kasa are both thrown around and hurt, but Boomer manages to drop Silverbolt and drags his slowly awakening body to the Low Berths where they have one last confrontation before Boomer locks him in the container. He then sets about waiting and watching Silverbolt, also checking on the injured in the sickbay. Boomer argues with Dio about the need to examine Kasa, meaning touch her and possibly undress her, until finally Boomer loses patience with Dio, tranqs him and leaves. Then he goes to rest and go over his options. Afterwards, he goes to talk with Mary Kei and Kasa, Dio about what to do with Silverbolt. Kasa suggests just taking the whole low berth to Darkover and storing it in a cave in the Hellers for safekeeping.
Next day, Boomer makes up his mind and contacts the crew, readying them for departure. He notices on the Security screen a “lightning-like display of energy” surrounding Silverbolt’s Low Berth, then disappearing. Boomer calls Mary Kei, Kasa and Dio to the bridge and discusses what to do. Boomer then goes to the Masumoto’s bridge and questions it some about various things. He then asks Rabbit to work on combining the Black Globe generator with the Low Berth to make a prison to hold the Demon, and Rabbit mentions it would be easier if he could use the Red Shimmersuit.. Boomer talks with Kasa and Dio about possibly “Awakening” Rabbit’s psychic powers, but Kasa advises against it saying it would just give the Demon one more “bullet in the clip” So Boomer and the gang wait.
Next day, Rabbit finishes the repairs, so Boomer gets Rachet to thaw out and wake up Silverbolt. He spectacularly fails the attempt, and scurry’s the rescue Silverbolt. Boomer questions the Columbus’s computer about the Demons and the history of their war with the Ancients. He decides to wait.
Next day, Boomer goes to the Broken Mirror room on the Masumoto and examines it, tinkering with it and making some conclusions about it. He decides fiddling with it is a bad idea and drops it; his will broken now he decides to head for home. Mary Kei argues the point with Boomer, and talks some sense into him so he (again) cancels the flight preparations. For lack of anything else to do, Boomer runs thru the Library Data in the ships computer for a bit, studying it. Eventually he gathers Rabbit and they go exploring the Robot Facility on the Engineering Deck where they begin assembling a hover-Warbot. (Nanny-faz?) Rabbit thinks it will take about 3 days, without the Red Shimmersuit. Boomer helps him, and after a bit Rachet contacts Boomer about getting Silverbolt up and about now, so Boomer agrees. Boomer has him fire up the engines, and then he goes to the Matsumoto and moves it to a safer orbit before they leave.
128-129 [A/H Drive]
The Columbus arrives and almost crashes on the surface but Boomer manages to pull it out. Kasa contacts the FC and arranges for them to show up. Boomer heads out into Caer Donn to trade for some furs and other goods. He also does some shopping for Dee and the baby before calling it a night.
131 The FC shows up and Reynaud asks Boomer for the lowdown. Boomer tells them about the Demon and asks for their help in containing it. Boomer also checks up on Silverbolt, making sure he is ok, and he takes the time to check out everyone who are suspects, trying to locate the Demon. Turns out the last suspect is Dr Xavier, who immediately attacks Kasa and the the FC before making a run for the exit of the ship. Boomer dons the Blue Command suit and calls for Shipwreck and Rabbit to aid him in the Cargo Hold where he has tracked Dr. Xavier to. The duo meet him there and they enact a plan to take the Dr on, but in the end he pops off to Sickbay and holds the FC hostage. Boomer heads there but Dr. Xavier forces him to leave. Boomer comes up with a detailed plan for an all-out engagement with the Dr and e calls Mary Kei, Dr. Shaw and Dr. Chou to the Sickbay. Once there they begin, but Dr. Xavier damages the FC and kills Kasa as the rest engage him. Boomer get’s bounced off the walls and such, but in the end they deal wit Dr. Xavier until he falls unconscious, the Demon fleeing him again.
132 The FC awakens and learns of Kasa’s fate and grieve greatly. Boomer gives them time to digest his information and then request if thy can retrieve Bull from Wolverine so he may aid them. Then he has Rachet check him out, physically and mechanically, so he can meditate and rest. The FC goes and retrieves Bull and returns with him to the Columbus, on Wurzburg, filling I Bull with as much info as they can. Once there, Boomer greets him and brings him up to snuff on the situation and asks for assistance. Bull has the entirety of the crew line up and he psychically checks them all over oe by one. Once this is done and everyone clears, it occurs to Boomer that the ship is also psychic and can provide a place for the Demon to hide in. Bull orders Rachet to tranq everyone, and then himself, while he and takes Rabbit and Boomer go to confront the Demon. Bull has Boomer run a diagnostic on the system, but it fights him until Fate intervene and he succeeds. Bull locates the Demon and talks to it, letting it know he intends to send it home and to prove a point he drains the computer, deactivating it nearly and forcing the Demon into a face-to-face confrontation. It introduces itself as Genea, a beautiful woman that looks like Samantha/Dee/whoever, necessary to each individual and it details information as necessary. Then it flies the ship off, and Bull decides to have Boomer remove the crew to the Overworld to protect them. Bull has Rachet pilot the Columbus to the Matsumoto. While this is going on, the Demon jumps into Mary Kei’s body and hides, but Bull discovers her quickly. Bull confronts Mary Kei and negotiates some terms to her, which she ignores.
133-134 A/H DRIVE
As the ship travels Boomer takes the unconscious members of the FC to the Overworld, and then starts on the Mercs, but then Bull reverses his mind and asks Boomer to get them all back, which he does but only with Fates help. Bull and Boomer talk extensively about the new developments and what they intend to do with them. Plans are made and drawn up.
Arrive at the Matsumoto and question the computer about the Demons. It explains to them about the Demon World, also known as The Warp, and about the HomeBases which provides the Demons with the ability to move about in the Imperium. It details to them what the Ancients plan was all about, so they decide to pick up where the Ancients left off and go take it on. They return to the Columbus and suit up to get ready to depart, but not before Boomer has another talk with Mary Kei. Then the duo returns to the Matsumoto and go thru the Broken Mirror portal to the Warp.
[WARP] They make it thru the settlement to the entrance, and descend. 1] They encounter Rabid Growlings, and dispatch them. 2] Moving on, they encounter a Large Spider, and deal with it, recovering some crystals and loot. 3] Moving on, they next run into a pair of Mongos and take them on. 4] Finally they come upon a room of Souls and manage to survive, claiming a large selection of crystals in the process. 5] Then they descend into the next level, and notice a change in design. The hallways are a bit more professionally constructed and there are braziers everywhere. Also the stairs no longer seem to be next to near each other. There is a huge mob of Overlords near the stairs, but they deal well with them, collect crystals, and manage to find the next pair of stairs down. 6] There they encounter a pack of Skeletons, defying explanation, so Bull psi-blasts them while Boomer finishes off the rest and gathers up the crystals before making their way to the next stairs down. 7] Here they find no immediately obvious way to go so they wander a bit, fighting Goat demons and Mud Men demons for a bit until they encounter a huge Balrog boss guarding a door. Bucking up for a big fight, the two of them tackle the beast, discovering it is immune to their range weapons and partially immune to their psychic powers, so it becomes a hand-to-hand brawl for dominance. The fight is vicious, but in the end the duo take out the boss and retrieve it’s superior loot, including a Amulet of Light, which provides the bearer with light and the semblance of a Noble demon. They check the door the boss was guarding and find the Fools Crest, the Butchers Axe, and the Catastrophe Cudgel – using ID crystals to learn all about them. They pick and chose what they want and head off, dealing with more demons and such until they encounter a Glowing Shrine, which take advantage of, and find the stairs down. 8] They enter a room with some shadowy figures which they manage to avoid and easily make it to the door out and find the stairs going down. 9] Partway down Bull announces his suit sensors detect an increase in Psi radiation and they best not spend vast time here. This level resembles nothing more than a cave with lava flowing thru it and maze-like warrens all around. They pick and choose their path across this mess toward what appears to be the stairs Once there thy encounter 4 Storm Lords and a fight begins. They manage to avoid the lightning wielding beasts and defeat them, resulting in a cascade of crystals. 10] They find an area like the last, and a relatively distinct path to the stairs, with only some simple Flame Demons blocking the way. Unfortunately as they round the corner they meet up with 2 Lava Lords and a fight ensues. Then once they are disposed of, they move on to deal with the Flame Demons. From there, they sneak on to the stairs. 11] Here the way is easy, but guarded by some Death Wings which Boomer decides he wants no part of. So the duo use special “tactical re-conning” and sneak their way to the fence, cut a hole thru it, and attempt to slip thru. This fails, and the Death Wings attack. Carnage ensues, but the pair win and they collect their loot and move on. 12] The duo spy the stairs in the distance, and Boomer decides to Teleport to it while Bull journeys there, since he stands a better chance of surviving the trip. He does so, but unfortunately when he joins Boomer they encounter a boss Fire Drake and his minions who all attack. Fight ensues, and the pair manage to defeat the collection and recover a Ring and Axe from the boss. The Ring provides protection, and the Axe provides a non-psionic means of dealing with foes. They open the gate and find a Succibus, who charms Boomer into attacking Bull. This goes poorly, but with the Succubus’s aid it seems to work for a bit. Bull makes a grab to restrain Boomer, so Boomer slips sideways and goes to the Overworld. However, this is the Warp and not Reality so the Overworld is a traumatic place of chaos and terror. Boomer’s mind cracks just a little, granting him a level of psi-trauma – but the Succubus’s hold on him vanishes. He returns and helps Bull finish her off, which gets them a Golden Elixir vial plus Boomer claims a tome for his own. Boomer learns the Golden Elixir will revert any demon, from boss to regular, down a class – plus the Tome details everything ahead in the Home-Base. Also he learns if combined with the proper crystal he can use the Golden Elixir to shut off Genae’s switch at the bottom. They descend. 13] They come out into a definitely different setup in construction with a series of halls that lead toward the exit, but they have to subtly sneak their way thru them to avoid the beasts. They manage to do so, and find the stairs. 14] Thru a stroke of luck they find the exit is right next to the entrance, so they hop directly over to it. Partway down Bull announces his sensors again indicate a rise in psi-radiation, so much so they both receive another does of psi-trauma. 15] Stepping out onto the next level, Boomer checks the tome and tells Bull what direction they need to go to undo the various traps waiting them. They do so, moving carefully to avoid any monsters, until they come upon the first of 3 special locations with parts of “the key” needed to gain access to the last level. Here, Boomer decides to teleport to the stone and capture it before racing away. He does so, leaving Bull to handle the after effects. This works for the first two stones, the second one actually requiring Boomer to go into the Overworld again, but at the third one the collection of beasts is too great and their defenses almost overwhelming, so to counter it Bull drops his Sharra-bomb into the group. He wipes them out, allowing the duo to collect the third stone. The HomeBase reshapes itself and forms a direct path to the the next, and last, “gate” down. 16] Upon entering the last level, they realize they are at the “heart of the Warp” and all that entails – which grants them both another level of psi-trauma. The non-Ecludian geometry of the place bears heavy on them, but they manage to find the location of the “switch”, at which Boomer combines the Golden Elixir and crystals so they can activate the thing and end Genea’s reign. They do so, and Boomer throws the “switch” which shuts down the HomeBase and the landscape surrounding it. Bull and Boomer race back to the Broken Mirror and escape the destruction in the Warp. This touches Boomer’s mind again for more psi-trauma.
147-150 Upon returning from the Warp, Boomer is delighted to find Mary Kei is healthy and Genea is gone, from everyone and the ship, Bull does a checkup on everything and makes sure, then talks with Boomer abut blowing the ship and the Broken Mirror. Boomer think they should keep it out of SuSAG’s hands but he wants to preserve a copy of the “memory information” for S&S Salvage. Bull disagrees and wants the ship destroyed, so Boomer attempts to activate the self-destruct sequence, but the Computer locks them out of the system. They decide to overload the engines but Boomer states they will need Rabbit’s aid, and he isn’t psionic – so with a roll of his eyes Bull makes him psionic. Donning the Red Shimmer suit, Rabbit aids in the location and setting of the bombs [thanks to some telepathy, but he cracks up a bit.] and from a safe distance the crew watch the Matsumoto erupts into a small sun and is destroyed. Then they head for home.
150-151 A/H DRIVE
Finally arriving back home, the duo make their way to Wolverine and settle down. Boomer returns home to a warm welcome only to discover a stranger there also. A cute red headed girl who introduces herself as Kira Li explains that she was sent over by the SuSAG Division of Domestic Aid to be a “maid” to one Viscountess Deidre Sagura in her time of need. Dee tells Boomer that Kira is from her homeworld of Warzburg and is a member of the Li family who serve her family [the Ardais] and has come off-world to help her. Boomer is skeptical, so he does some double checking on her backstory plus sends an email to Mr Kelzar and tells Bull. Bull has Samantha do some straightforward checking on the girl, and manages to find, for the most part, her story pans out. Dee and the Four all discuss Boomer’s adventure and celebrate his return. Bull contacts Boomer and tell him they are going to go to Warzburg and check in for some rehab. Boomer argues and states he has to wait for his Anagathic treatment, plus he needs to be with Dee when the time comes.
Haruhi quick sells the furs via StarBay for a small profit. Boomer contacts Elaina and lets her know he is leaving, but she wants to come along as well so agrees to visit Boomer when he sets up his Anagathic appointment early, so she can rejoin the S&S Salvage. Yuri and the girls set up their Anagathic appointments early, for the same reason, so all will be prepared.
Boomer contacts Yuri via Telepathy searching for the TV remote and Rum – and thus accidentally the other two as well because they are in link with her thereby infecting them all with psychic trauma. Afterwards they make a swift trip to Wolverines bridge so Boomer can make a recording of his memories, and there find out Boomer, and the rest prolly, are suffering from psychic trauma and Boomer is warned to refrain from contacting anyone with Telepathy. He understands and makes his recording, then relays the news to Dee – who seems to have lucked out and not contacted his psychic trauma from their earlier contacts.
When they all go to SuSAG to get their Anagathic treatment, Boomer has several long conversations with a much calmer, more compliant Damos who tries a smoother approach to suggesting a partnership. Boomer still resists him, picks up Elaina and returns home.
157-158 The group splits the non-psychic girls up around with the psychic ones and all transcend to the Over world, take a portal to the Aldaran Tower, and descend to Darkover. They catch a ride to Caer Donn and there make plans to go to the Ardais Estate.
159-180 It takes about 17 chilly days to travel to the Ardais Estate manor house. Boomer, Bull, Kira, Yuri an Dee ride horses, while Keiko drives the cart with Dara, Haruhi and Elaina ride in it. Once there, the group is introduced to Lord Ardais, Dee’s father, and enjoy all the comforts the Ardais Clan can offer. Although having heard such a grand reputation for the Ardais Clan’s associated perversions, Boomer finds that on the whole the Eagle Nest, when empty, is more perverted. Aside from possibly catching a pair of servants shagging in the nearby undergrowth he finds little to startle him. Dee explains to her father everything necessary for their visit, and requests he contact the nuns and let them know they are coming. After a day or two they do so and the “patients” prepare to go to it.
181-365 They spend some time at the manor house, making arrangements. Dee explains to Boomer where her house is and that they will wait for him there. The Midwives will also be checking up on her so she will be well tended. The group heads out, and after a brief trip up in the mountains they come upon St, Margaret’s of the Heights. After an introduction she admits the “patients” and takes Kira, Dara and Elaina to her house to await the results.
About a month passes, after which the girls and Bull are deemed “cured” and head off to return to Dee. Boomer remains and continues his therapy. Dee comes to visit him a lot as the months roll on by, with Kira at her side, until after another 3 months Boomer passes his first hurdle. Then after another 3 months, he passes his second hurdle. During this time Dee stops coming to visit, although Kira continues to do so, so Boomer asks her about it – he is told she has given birth and is recuperating. More time passes and the year ends with Holiday, and Boomer spends it celebrating at the Heights.
