The way things were (5)
001-002 Everyone’s alarms go off early and they get up to fight hangovers and the like before they break out their fancy clothes and military dress uniforms to wear to Court. Boomer surprises the Girls with a special morning wake up just for laughs. Everyone gathers in Court and they mingle with anyone they can. As the nobles enter Mr. Kelzar, followed by Senator Keigaro, move over to stand with the gang. They talk and move the gang around Court meeting and hobnobbing with others until they run into the Countess Stephani Yates-Hortalez and her daughter “Princess” Elania Yates-Hortalez. They talk for a bit, reminiscing over last night at the party and how it all worked out. Boomer learns the Countess is the Headmistress of GINA, the place the Girls want to go after they graduate, and he learns a bit more about Elania. Slaughter talks a bit more seriously with the Countess, and everyone makes sure to be seen as best they can.
The music swells and Court grows quiet as the Emperor and his family arrive. They take their place on the dais and start the ceremony with news and reports on how the Cybot war is going. Then the Herald calls for the gang to the front and he thanks them for what they did rescuing the Senator as well as being useful to SuSAG constantly. So as a reward he Knights Studd and Boomer, plus he gives an Imperial Mandate to Devon and Griff, plus he elevates Slaughter to the rank of Duke amongst the Rank Nobles. After that the Court continues with the Emperor talking some more and business being discussed until the end. During this time Boomer talks with Master Domo, Dara’s Dad, about things until the end. Then Boomer approaches Dee and proposes to her, which she accepts gratefully.
After Court, the group goes into the dining area and enjoys a special dinner prepared by Master Domo. There is talk and some special treats for certain people until the ballroom is flipped by the TAS.
When the time comes, the wedding party assembles inside the newly constructed cathedral in preparation for the service. Studd is Slaughter’s best man, while Griff, Boomer and Keigaro fill in the rest of Slaughter’s party. Devon is Samantha’s maid-of-honor and a line-up of other lady’s fill out Samantha’s side. Mr. Kelzar gives Samantha away for the ceremony, The Priest talks and talks and reads verses of the scriptures and goes on and on till Slaughter finally is wed. Everyone cheers as the newly wed couple leave in style, then discreetly return to the reception. Lots of nobles “crash” the party, and some military types also join in especially some Varger fresh from the front. Slaughter scoots over to talk with them, and meets their “leader” named Gravv. Slaughter discusses possible future jobs with him and him pack for a bit. Then the music begins and Slaughter dances with Samantha. Boomer dances with each of the Girls individually and talks with them over many things, including their future plans and Haruhi’s possible adoption and such. Failing to come to a reasonable outcome, he goes off to dance with Dee and they discuss their upcoming date. Then he talks a brief bit with Slaughter about upcoming plans. Then he dances with “Princess” Elania and talks with her a bit. Finally Slaughter and Samantha head off to their lavish honeymoon estate courtesy of Mr. Kelzar and the rest return to their rooms or head off home if need be.
003-022 Slaughter and Sam spend time on Mr. Kelzar’s private moon enjoying their honeymoon, while they also search about the digital net to locate and order their home. They arrange to have it’s modular construction delivered to Planetoid Wolverine.
Meanwhile, Boomer talks with Haruhi and makes plans to pay her as they agreed. Haruhi only takes half and offers the other half to Boomer so he will keep his silence about her part. Boomer agrees, and later he talks to Yuri some about their (the Four) plans without being too specific. He also spends time with Dee and they make plans concerning their wedding. Boomer contacts the TAS to see about arranging it, and also he bids farewell to the Four. Dee offers to fly them back to Glisten, and after she drops them off she has an accident and Boomer must go rescue her.
023-049 Slaughter and Sam return from their honeymoon and meet up with Boomer. Slaughter hears about Boomer’s plans and buy him a membership in the TAS as a wedding present. Soon after that S&S Salvage get’s a call from SuSAG wanting them to make a run to a Sword World and pick up some papers for mining. He agrees that him, Devon, Sliverbolt and Slingshot will take the B.A. and go while Boomer watches over the planetoid, plus deal with other matters. They get ready and go. The B.A. Manages to activate their X-Drive and whistles off. Soon a Cybot ship slips into their jump stream and follows them. After a week they pop out at Shirine and so does the Cybot ship. A fight ensues, and fortunately two Scout ships arrive from a nearby Scout base and eventually the Cybot ship is destroyed. The crew go to the Scout base and get some quick repairs done to the B.A. Before they take off again. Another week brings them to Biter, and from there another week brings them o the Sword World capitol, Gram. They drop out of jump to spy a Sword World fleet.
Meanwhile, things continue calmly back on Planetoid Wolverine. A incoming call from Glisten introduces the group of five Varger and announces their arrival as Slaughter requested. Boomer greets them and helps get a jaunt from the starport to aid them in travel. They show up, led by Gravv, and go about establishing a make-do-camp near the Compound, while Boomer also goes about getting their papers in order and putting them to work on clearing the land for Slaughter’s house. Boomer takes them and Road Block, a Merc, to the construction site where they establish a quick camp and start working.
050-078 Slaughter negotiates the Sword World fleet and tries to locate the noble on Gram with little success. Finally they locate him at the starport, one Sir Marastan, talking to another person, Mr. Aston, about something. There is much heated discussion, and finally Sir Marastan offers the papers and a handshake to Slaughter. Mr. Aston is displeased, and as Slaughter and the others head back to the ship he is shot by a sniper which leads to the gang dealing with him and and the rest. They discover it was “the family” goons, and then they take the papers and get on the ship. Leave for home – jump to Biter, refuel – jump to Shirine, refuel – jump to Glisten.
Meanwhile. The Varger crew works on Slaughter’s home a lot as Boomer discovers Griff has snuck off on a mission on his own for SuSAG during the last three weeks. Boomer works on his air-raft some, and continues planning on his wedding, and visits Yuri’s Mom during the intervening days till Slaughter comes home. When Slaughter and the crew returns he contacts Mr. Kelzar and demands to know what happened to Griff and wants a report. Slaughter also contacts the Varger crew and discusses their construction with them. The planetoid starts to “scream” psychically, and everyone reacts. Slaughter sends Boomer to go get the Girls, and he heads for the Bridge with Devon and Dee in tow. Boomer retrieves the Girls and returns to Wolverine just as a Cybot fleet shows up to menace the planetoid. They move in, and a new station pops up in the Bridge. Boomer sits at it and the ship “awakens” him so he can use it. A warfare ensues, and Boomer mans the Shields a bit while the others man their posts. They manage to maneuver the ship also as they fight. They take out one pyramid and switch to a second. There is much shooting, and eventually they take out it. The third makes a run for it, and they pursue it, and it launches an escape probe into the gate. Then it turns to defend, and the crew takes it out. The crew return the planetoid to it’s home orbit and start fielding questions. Slaughter spreads the word around the Marches about the Cybots and what happened, with as little information as possible. News spreads across the Imperium as well via the starnet.
079-085 Slaughter talks to the ship about cross-training all of them. Boomer presents “contracts” to all four of the Girls while Slaughter fends off different communications. The Girls discuss going back to school, and being ready if need be. Boomer finalizes his wedding plans. Slaughter checks out a wide range of Merc applications before settling in on one, code named Rachet. Slaughter hires him, and discovers during the process Rachet is psionic. Boomer takes the Girls back to school and makes plans to retrieve them if the need arises.
The Inquisition shows up asking to land and talk with the “officials”. Inquisitor Emanual talks to Slaughter about “official report” of the incident and asks for a copy of it direct from him. Slaughter has a copy of the report he sent to the Imperium created and he gives that to the Inquisitor and “throws” him off the planetoid. A little later, Slaughter talks to the Varger and the Mercs about what might happen and what the Inquisition might try. The alarms go off and the gang discover a satellite is gone from orbit. Boomer checks out the feed, and they discover a “probe” of sorts. Slaughter suspects the Inquisition is up to it’s old tricks. Boomer notifies the SuSAG base about a possible invasion, and he also dispatches some Merc’s to watch the door to the Bridge. The SuSAG base notifies Boomer about a missing patrol. Boomer takes some Merc’s via Air-Raft out to the Sensors where he searches about the planetoid, especially near SuSAG’s base. He detects some movement so he arranges to send Devon, some Merc’s and the Varger to that spot. Boomer pauses at the Eagles Nest before joining up with the B.A. at the SuSAG base. Road Block and the Varger move out to perform some recon on the intruders. The intruders ambush the group, and Road Block is killed. Gravv runs off after them, and Heavy Duty shows up to replace Road Block and scopes out the scene. Boomer takes the B.A. Up into orbit and proceeds to stalk and ask the intruders to surrender before he proceeds to attack to intruders. Devon and the remaining Varger head up into the foliage to take on the rest of the intruders. A brief firefight breaks out, and the action alerts Boomer and allows him to zero in on the scene and ask them to surrender once again before attacking. Boomer kills three of them, and the firefight continues. Boomer kills three more, and Red Alert moves in to help Devon and a Varger recover from their wounds. Boomer kills three more, and spies a ship landing to try and retrieve the remaining intruders. Boomer requests the SuSAG members be released before he engages in a defensive firefight of his own with the ship. They space jettison the SuSAG members, so Boomer returns fire, and finally he hulls it. Boomer lands the B.A. and picks everyone up and takes them back to the Compound.
086-092 Everyone rests up and prepares to finish their work. Boomer, Devon and some Merc’s take the B.A. up to salvage the Inquisition ship. They dismantle the modified Black Globe Generator along with it’s special software. They work over the ship, traveling back and forth as they salvage it. They claim 2 Air-Rafts plus a Cutter, along with 4 Triple Turret’s worth of hardware, as well as the leftover clothes, uniforms plus anything not bolted down. And if it was, after a bit of work it wasn’t anymore. Finally Silverbolt and Air Raid man the ship and “land” it somewhere on the planetoid. Boomer and the crew make plans to cut it up and sell the scrap for salvage, but he has other plans in mind coming up soon.
093-099 The Girls arrive at the planetoid, along with the Princess accompanying them, to settle in for the ceremony. Everyone gathers up and heads to the TAS on Glisten to await the wedding preparations. Studd, with Darrin, and Slaughter, with Samantha, show up as do the bulk of the Merc’s. There is some rehearsal preliminaries as well as a pre-dinner held for the group. Yuri presents Boomer with a Mini-Comp from all the Girls (and the Princess!) filled with a collection of Expert programs designed to deliver JOT 5 in a wide variety of subjects. Keiko helped pay for most of it, and the Princess the rest. It has a port for Boomer to upload them as needed, The day arrives and goes off without a hitch, although Studd and Slaughter exchange CredSlips occasionally as bets are won or lost. The reception afterward is also grand, with Darrin and Haruhi winning the Garter and Bouquet toss. By tradition, they earn the “first dance” of the event, so they dance and no one kills either. (although Keiko and Yuri look like they want to!!) The reception is over and everyone returns home to the planetoid.
100-113 Boomer and Dee take 2 weeks on their honeymoon, while the Girls go back to school. The others go home and sort out their various duties while maintaining the home fort, as it were. The Merc’s reorganize their group’s hierarchy and make due with Road Block’s death while also hanging out with the Varger.
114-116 Mr Kelzar contacts S&S Salvage and tells them the tracker on Griff’s ship has been located, oddly enough, on Melior – a rocky mudball some distance away. The gang decide to make a trip out there and check it out. Boomer, Dee, Slaughter, Devon, Silverbolt, Live Wire, Slingshot, Breaker, Heavy Duty and Traalfaz prepare the Peppard with supplies and take off.
A week of mindless tedium passes and the Peppard arrives at Melior, to see a huge Cybot destroyer there. Quickly, Silverbolt maneuvers the ship behind a moon and the crew hope they haven’t been spotted. Meanwhile, Breaker scans the surface as best they can for the tracker signal. After a bit, they locate it and the decision is made to slip away in the Ships Boat down to it. Boomer drives it, and everyone except Silverbolt and Live Wire board. Boomer, Devon, and Slaughter bring along their Battle Dress while everyone else gathers weapons and the like. Down they go, and they scan the surface before locating the wreckage. They also locate a Cybot pyramid with patrols around it. [NOTE: By this point, the gang know this. 1) Melior is a dustball full of religious nuts where a rare metal exists that the Imperium has a hardon for. 2) Griff’s ship is crashed in the wilds.] Boomer lands the ship in a carefully hidden spot near the crash but away from the Cybots. Heavy Duty, Boomer and Slaughter head out to Recon the wreckage. During that time they find nothing except evidence the ship was downed, and stripped of useful survival stuff, They also find evidence that a survivor headed off into the desert, plus evidence that the Cybots had been there in it also, albeit sometime later. After a bit, they go to Recon the Cybots as well. They come to the conclusion that the Cybots are looking for someone or something as well, and they are dragging around a coffin-shaped box. Boomer doesn’t feel either is Griff, but the gang go back to the Ships Boat and sneak away to try and follow the survivor into the desert. Boomer realizes the Imperium had to have mapped out this mud ball when they originally surveyed it, so he searches the files and comes up with a map and a destination nearby to go to. After a while, they find a town and land near it. The same three of them gather up and head off to Recon the town. There they find it has been done-unto harshly, and the Cybots are returning to continue/complete the job. A quick scan of the area for Imperial transmission signals reveals only static, which is mysteriously switched off suddenly. As if the receiver was trying to remain hidden, or something. Boomer loudly shouts out for Griff, just on the half-hearted chance he is nearby, and they discover a Cybot straggler. It opens fire on them, so the gang make a hasty withdraw from the area. [this includes the oncoming pyramid, as well as out of sight of any more stragglers.] They manage to tactility advance to the rear. [flying low and using the terrain to cover their movement].
126-127 Boomer surveys the maps and decides on a adventitious route to take that will allow them to move around the city and approach the refinery hidden. The Cybots seem interested in the refinery as well, and patrols are searching about the whole complex. Boomer loads his Engineering program and, using Recon also, quickly deduces which building the gang should look at. Landing the ship’s boat and suiting up, the three head off to recon about searching for some refined product at the main building. They manage to locate some processed ore, ready for shipping, so they commandeer a Grav Lifter and drive the product off toward the ship’s boat. Slaughter opens a wall making space for Boomer to drive the Grav Lifter thru the building and to the ship’s boat. Quickly the gang loads the vessel, but they detect the Pyramid approaching fast. Slaughter stays behind while Boomer flies the ship’s boat off planet. [Slaughter’s idea.] The gang arrive at the Peppard, and work on getting the cargo transferred. Boomer notifies Slaughter and let’s him know they are out of range. Slaughter calls his Sharra power out and psionically vaporizes the whole area. The main Cybot ship moves into a stationary orbit over the remains of the refinery, and launches another Pyramid. Boomer and the gang make ready, and maneuver the ship’s boat down toward Slaughter, evading detection all the way.
Slaughter awakens and moves to explore the downed Pyramid nearby. He recons it and records a lot and discovers different types of Cybots, as well as the newly converted body of Griff. Slaughter puts his boot thru Griff’s skull, just for good measure, then contacts Boomer. He advises him of his next plan, and Boomer, although he isn’t to fond of it, agrees to go along with it for now. Slaughter pretends to be unconscious just as the second Pyramid lands and the Cybots show up to investigate. They search the wreckage and find Slaughter. They take him back to the other Pyramid and restrain him, armor and all, and drop him off in a vacant room. After a bit, Slaughter recovers and removes him restraints. Activating defenses, the ship tracks him and he announces his desire to speak with someone. A Cybot comes in and talks to Slaughter. They argue/talk a bit, and the Cybot tries to shoot Slaughter. Slaughter psi-blasts him, and the defenses, and then prepares to move out and recon the ship.
Very stealthily, Slaughter heads out to explore the ship. He discovers he is now on the main Cybot ship, in orbit, and he discovers the pyramid ship is just a portal between the two. Filing this info away, he finds a room fulla Cybots and takes them on. After the fight, he contacts Boomer and details his plans to him. Boomer get’s ready to move to assist him, or save him. Slaughter recons more and fights more throughout the ship until he finally finds a central room with Cybot commands going on. There he deals with the Immortal guards and hacks into the ships system. With fate on his side, he engages into a psychic war with the ship, and wins. The pyramid ship now moves to collect their troops and move on up to the main ship. Boomer navigates the ships boat up as well. Slaughter mans the main ships weapons and takes out the oncoming pyramid ship, then he overides the computer system and blows up the main ship. Quickly, as the ship explodes, Slaughter finds a hatch and escapes the debris. Boomer makes it back to the Peppard and they move to salvage Slaughter.
A week passes, and the ship arrives at Glisten. They return home to Planet Wolverine and drop off the crew and salvage while making necessary appointments to meet with Mr. Kelzar. Boomer and Slaughter meet him and give their report, along with details about Griff’s failed mission and the planet’s damage. He agrees both could not be helped, and pays the crew for their time and trouble.
Boomer readies to head over to Glisten for graduation, He prepares for arrivals from invitations already sent out, plus he sends a few more now that the time is near. Boomer and Dee head over to Glisten to greet the arrivals, and Boomer makes sure Yuri receives her “car” (Air-Raft) and Wanda comes to visit as well. Yuri meets Wanda, under Boomer’s supervision (So Keiko, Dara and Haruhi don’t cause problems.) and calls for everyone to meet at the TSA for a “meet and greet”.
Wanda and Boomer “discuss” Yuri, S&S Salvage, and other stuff going on as she plays a quick “catch up” on his life. Boomer also mentions The Four as well, but Wanda doesn’t catch on. When all is said and done, Wanda invites Boomer, Dee, and even The Four to come to dinner at the TAS that evening. Boomer agrees, and makes the call to everyone wondering how this will end. The Four show up, and dinner conversation is proceeding, when Yuri boldly announces The Four’s interpersonal relationships, especially her’s and Keiko’s and Haruhi’s unique part of it. Emotions explode as the news settles in, but in the end Keiko picks up the check, with Dara’s Daddy’s discount. To calm matters down, Boomer invites Wanda to come over to Planet Wolverine over Yuri’s objections. To work out a deal, Boomer points out Wanda will be leaving after graduation is over, and then The Four can come to visit.
142-148 Time passes, the girls go back to school, and Wanda comes to visit the Eagles Nest. Ivan comes with her as well. Dee shows them around the place and helps them set up in their separate rooms. Boomer contacts everyone about a special party to be held at his place, and invites them all over. Studd and Darrin show up, along with Bull and Samantha, plus Devon as well. Boomer introduces Wanda to everyone, and Tralfaz helps serve the dinner party.
Dinner is served and a drinking game (With some help from Boomer.) ensues. The drinks flow like water, and the rankings go Ivan, Studd, Darrin, Devon, Wanda with Slaughter winning and not getting plastered. Boomer convinces her to give the gang a “pre show” so she does. She dances and strips majestically for Bull as a “consolation” prize, setting Samantha on edge, but Bull is polite and gentlemanly. (In other words, no fights break out and no one is killed.) After all is said and done, Boomer takes Wanda and Ivan back to the TAS and agrees to see her show. When the weekend arrives, Wanda has her show and The Four show up (with fake ID’s.) and they even throw cred on the stage for her while hooting and cheering. After the show ends, Wanda bids goodbye to those waiting, and her and Ivan pack their things and go.
149-162 The Four show up on Planet Wolverine and settle in, all graduation over and done with. On the day of her birthday, Yuri announces their plans for their wedding in a month or so. It will be a Hierarchical Polyamory, a type of Imperial Noble marriage that includes three of the Four. Boomer decides he must contact important family members and confess to them Yuri’s intent, while inviting them to the event. When the time arrives, he goes for his Anagathic treatment then he goes over to visit and tell Magda. She takes the news well enough, as does Edmund, so then Boomer sets off to find and tell his Mother. She doesn’t act surprised and takes it well also, much to Boomer’s relief. Finishing up his rounds he goes to meet Mary Kei and fills her in. She isn’t shocked, and agrees to come. The Princess has her birthday during this time.
163-176 Boomer find out Dara is in charge of setting up the Bachlorette Party and asks his permission to have it at the Eagles Nest. He agrees, and also realizes Wanda won’t be able to make it back in time for the wedding, which he knows she would gripe about anyhow. Keiko has her birthday, leaving Dara next, and Haruhi also just before the ceremony next week. Dara uses her Daddy’s aid and drops his name to have the Bachlorette Party set up at the TAS, complete with booze and such. Dara has her birthday, and Haruhi fakes another ID for her own use so she can attend the party with no problems. The party is held, complete with strippers and such, and Boomer enjoys a peaceful evening at home with no concerns and such.
177-179 A new term is up for Boomer and Slaughter so Slaughter makes his rolls. He spends his Fate and makes his rolls, surviving the effects of age. Slaughter decides to take a trip to Darkover and consult the Forbidden Circle again about the new direction of the Prophecy.
180-183 Time passes, and Haruhi turns 18. All the Girls meet the next day at the TAS with Boomer, Dee, Studd, Darrin, Devon and others in and about the family as they prepare for a quiet ceremony. The Girls have decided on a Hierarchical Polyamory as their marriage, and the ceremony goes off without a hitch. Keiko marries Yuri, and then both of them marry Haruhi. Dara holds quite a lavish reception, and there is much excitement. Then everyone goes home, and the Girls start their Honeymoon resting at the Eagles Nest.
Slaughter spends a week in the BA and arrives at Darkover, landing at Caer Donn. He contacts his person in the Forbidden Circle and arranges a meeting. He meets Lew Alton who takes him to the others. They have a meeting and then all of them meet in the Overworld in their Tower and hold another Circle. There Slaughter sees a vision of the new direction of the Prophecy where the Emperor is assassinated and the spirit goes off in search of a new host – possibly settling on one of the Girls. However there is no definite target, and the vision ends unfulfilled. Slaughter returns to Caer Donn and Contacts Boomer and Mr. Kelzar and lays out preparations for S&S Salvage as well as getting info. Then he jumps home.
Slaughter arrives at Glisten and set’s up a meeting with Boomer. He get’s a report of how the wedding went, and he meets the new family and offers congratulations. Then he also checks up on how the news is going, and also checks up on the info he got from Mr. Kelzar and Boomer before he settles in with Samantha for some much deserved rest and recovery. The Girls, of course, enjoy more of their Honeymoon at the Eagles Nest.
200 [BIG DAY OF ASSASSINATION]
The news feed all over Glisten is awash with news of the Emperor’s court and the assassination that occurred there. The Emperor, the Empress, one of the Prince Heirs, and the Aslan Ambassador were all shot and killed on live vidoscope at court by Archduke Dulinor, after which he claimed the Iridum Throne and the Crown by right of Assassination before making a hasty escape. The news is electrifying and more than a bit unsettling given the latest news from Slaughter. Knowing that this must have already happened earlier, given the time lag in the news feeds, Slaughter fears the worst. He asks Boomer to arrange a meeting with him and the Girls so he can check them out. They all seem fine, except for Haruhi’s psychic persona is shadowed by another, more powerful spirit, just waiting in the wings. Slaughter let’s Boomer know, and he also pulls Haruhi off to the side and lays out a new set of rules (called Laws, by some.) she is to abide by for the time being. Haruhi isn’t totally pleased with them but agrees to abide by them, after she talks to her spouses. Boomer also assigns Tralfaz to a new duty as Haruhi’s bodyguard.
201-204 Boomer emails Wanda a video link to the wedding event on the starweb. He also deflects any ire from her by pointing out he was as in the dark as she was, and this wasn’t planned (By him . . .) to turn out the way it did. He makes sure she has Yuri, Keiko and Haruhi’s mail addresses and suggests she forward any complaints to them.
He also contacts Mary Kei and talks with her about the possibility of making a recording of Haruhi’s mind. He suggests meeting her, in private, for lunch the next day so they can fully discuss this matter. They do so, and they talk, and he discovers how expensive it will all be. In the end he has her put him on the “standby” list just in case a spot opens up. Boomer also talks to the Girls and advises them to back up all the information they had on Haruhi, and to stick together and report strangers, more than usual. He also had a talk with Haruhi about making a recording to “tell the Emperor about herself”, if need be, and discussed the possibility of getting some augmentations. Haruhi disliked the idea, after which Boomer asked her what she would do if she found out their roles were reversed. She replied “Shoot you.” to which Boomer raised his finger and took aim and said “Your wish is my command, Emperess.” A loud outcry from the other girls stopped him.
Boomer goes to talk to Mr. Kelzar about some stuff, and about the possibility of raising some credits. Mr. Kelzar offers a ship for Boomer and a team to go on a simple mission on a nearby planet named Overnale. There, a team of scientists need “extracted” along with their “artifact” from the frenzied “government”. A quick strike team slipping in, and then out, will do the job just fine. Boomer arranges a list of possible crew members, along with The Four, and studies the mission.
Boomer, Dee, the Four, Silverbolt, Rachet, Livewire, Tralfaz and Heavy Duty all travel to Overnale. Boomer “instructs” the Four at various positions around the ship, and “crash trains” them in certain jobs. Keiko Engineering 1, Haruhi Gunnery 1, Dara Sensors 1, Dara Communications 1, Yuri Computers 1, All Vacc Suit 1. The away team breaks out the Cutter and disembarks to the spaceport where Boomer starts to seek out the SuSAG team. He contacts them and get’s a report.
He and Dee move in toward their spot and recon’s the area. Dee notes she feels a nasty powerful Psychic Vibration from inside the building. As time passes, Silverbolt contacts him and advises a signal has gone out calling for a system Close Escort ship to come and aid the locals. Boomer hands out ammo and equipment to the gang and makes ready to move in to the extract the SuSAG team. He don’s his Battle Dress as nightfall arrives. The gang moves to the spot and a fight ensues, and Keiko get’s hurt. Bullet’s fly, and grenades also, causing Boomer to get hurt. They extract the SuSAG team and the artifact, which Boomer carries to the Air-Raft and suffers headaches for it, and they escape to the Cutter. During the escape one of the SuSAG team get’s killed. As they leave, a Close Escort arrives and the Cutter runs. They manage to make it back to the Donoslev, and get medical aid and continue fighting the Close Escort. Boomer unloads the artifact again from the Air-Raft. Finally they manage to disable the Close Escort and hit the gate full speed and manage to jump.
During the jump, Boomer and any other people with psychic abilities, especially Haruhi, complain of headaches and the like. Boomer has Tralfaz move the artifact to the forward of the ship, away from the crew quarters for the rest of the jump. Arrive back home and go to SuSAG, drop off the Scientists, and then Boomer and Tralfaz move the Artifact off the ship into SuSAG storage. Mr. Kelzar shows up and pays Boomer 10 MCR then listens to his report before he collects the Scientists. Air Raid and Devon arrive in a Ships Boat to pick up the gang and take them home. They drop everyone off and Boomer invites all to the Eagles Nest for a big meal. Dara helps fix it.
Next day, Boomer, Dee, Haruhi and Devon go to the Sensor Room to scope out the new place Devon and the Varger located. They track it down with a minimum of trouble, and they move off to recon it. Boomer and Devon find a way to sneak up on and deactivate the Gun Turret so they can approach the entrance. Once in, they also find a small room with controls within and it takes them to an odd control room. They explore it and discern it is a monitoring room also as well as a door in the back. With some amount of luck they manage to get it open, and find a room full of glowing green tubes. They also discover 3 “Spider Bots” on the ceiling in a cluster. The “Spider Bots” move, and the group leaves. They try to escape, and wind up “shifting” to another room similar to the first. After trying a few times more, they finally escape and manage to head for home.
Dara makes herself obviously helpful, and Dee feels like she isn’t able to be a good hostess with Dara being overly helpful, so Boomer has a talk with her.
The girls leave for GINA and prepare for their admissions.
Imperia contacts S&S Salvage and hires them for a special trip to take them to Darkover. They are trying to avoid the Inquisition because Krash has discovered he is psychic and has attracted their attention. Imperia agrees on a set price of 10 Mcr for the whole job, and will cover fuel and such. Boomer agrees on taking the Peppard, along with Silverbolt, himself, Dee, Devon, Krash and Sticks as crew. The two arrive on Wolverine and wait as Rachet installs the Black Globe generator on the Peppard with Boomer and Silverbolt’s aid.
The ship travels thru jump with a tail following them. They manage to avoid it and arrive at their destination and call for landing. They land and make their way into the starport to a bar so they can contact their contact. They do so, and make arrangements to meet them nearby. They rent horses and ride off to the nearby town of Storn, avoiding a shuttlecraft at night slowly searching the road for them. Finally they arrive and find lodging, whereas they encounter Dio Ardais who agrees to be their guide and take them to the Forbidden Circle. He opens a “gate” just as someone sounding like Imperial Guards burst in the door. They all get away and wind up at Armidia, and they meet the members of the FC. Reynaud introduces everyone and invites the gang to stay for a Circle. They agree, and while they wait Boomer goes to meet the Lord and Master of the place, Jeoffry Alton and his pax man, Xarn.
Morning arrives and the Forbidden Circle meets up with everyone at breakfast. After a brief discussion, Boomer and the rest agree to go into the Overworld and experience their Circle. After they all join and transcend into the mist, Boomer goes first. He undergoes psi tests and finds out his strength, plus he gains access to Teleport, Telepathy and Telekinesis. Devon goes next, and also finds out her strength, plus she gains access to Telekinesis and The Healer gift. Krash comes next, and find out his strength plus discovers he has The Guardian gift. Then the group undergoes training, and learn more aspects about their skills as well as learning about Matrixes. Then they test for one and they each get to pick one. When all is said and done, Reynaud asks Boomer if they would like to try and undergo another view of the future. The Circle holds another Prophecy, and in it they see the death of the Emperor, his spirit moving off thru space and time, settling into what appears to be Haruhi, and then slowly taking over everything in her grasp until she works her way back to Capitol. The vision ends with static, and Reynaud apologizes for the whole thing, claiming it was weak and no good.
Lew Alton offers to get more Horseasarus-Rex’s for the gang by offering the name of his contact in Caer Donn. Dio Ardais opens a gate to the town, and they all slip thru only to spy an Inquisition ship at the port, and they discover Silverbolt is captured. Boomer contacts Dolof Trasnoff on the other ship, and argue with him. Boomer has Dee “talk” with the officer while he and Devon teleport themselves and their Battle Dress onto the Peppard. The two of them get dressed and sneak thru the ship up thru Engineering to the Bridge. There they fight the Inquisition officers, and once they capture the ship they go over to the Inquisition ship and raid it. Big fight ensues, and they rescue Silverbolt and then go to the jump gate and head for home.
Boomer makes a decision to avoid entanglement with the Inquisition. Krash makes a call to his bandmates, and with that the Peppard jumps to Bendor,. After a week they arrive there. Boomer sneaks about the starport and locates a Broker service, whereas he hires a top Broker to sell the Peppard. He manages to turn a tidy profit on it, as the whole gang wait for Imperia’s ship to come for them. The Peppard sells for about 500Mcr after fees and licenses are taken care of. Imperia’s ship, Mother, shows up and the gang transfer their cargo over for the trip home.
After a week of luxury traveling on the Mother, they arrive home. Boomer contacts Yuri and they discuss Haruhi, and Boomer finds out she is masquerading as a boy now. Apparently this is her idea on confusing the “spirit”, as it were, and delaying it’s attempt to take over her body. They also discuss possible options concerning her, and Boomer thinks on taking her to Wurzburg for help.
Boomer also wheels and deals and works the market and finds a sweet deal on a barely used Survey Scout ship for about 169 Mcr. He has a Broker help him somewhat, and then he starts working on getting it registered and equipped.
A week passes during which Boomer heals and works on The Lovely Angel, outfitting it and getting it painted. He also attempts to meditate, psychically heal and charge his Matrix, with faint results. While doing all this he makes plans for a crew to take The Lovely Angel off to Darkover and makes all the proper preparations, which includes obtaining and installing 2 Low Berths in the ship. He talks with the SuSAG Scientists they rescued a while back and asks them if they would like to come along (and bring the Artifact!) to Darkover and maybe talk with the Forbidden Circle. They agree, but aren’t definite about it. He also talks with Yuri and learns Haruhi has been acting weird, and they settle on plans for The Four to come to visit.
Finally the day arrives. The Four come to visit, and everyone is aboard the ship when Boomer takes them on a tour. The crew is Boomer, Dee, Devon, Silverbolt, First-Aid, Rachet, The Four, plus the two Scientists and their Artifact. Boomer has arranged for a tent to be set up in the Cargo Hold, near one of the Low Berths. Tralfaz also is included, and Boomer gives everyone a tour of the ship while diving up the sleeping space. Haruhi is suspicious of the Low Berths.
During the trip, Keiko and Boomer talk about Haruhi and what’s going to happen. Keiko offers to distract Haruhi while Boomer knocks her out, so Boomer sneaks up on Haruhi and fires a tranq round at her. She miraculously snatches it out of the air, as if by Fate, and turns on Boomer. He Shields himself instantly and the Emperor attacks, then passes out. Boomer thanks Keiko for her worthless help, and is helped away by Dee as Devon and The Four put Haruhi into one of the Low Berths. He spends the rest of the trip resting and recovering, while The Four weep and watch over Haruhi.
With The Lovely Angel in orbit, Boomer, Dee, Devon, Tralfaz, The Four, and the two Scientists (Alan and Martin) go down to the planet. Devon and Tralfaz move the Low Berth into the Cutter. Boomer contacts The Forbidden Circle and asks for a meeting. While descending to the planet he receives a coded reply, stating where and when they will contact them. They land in Caer Donn and a small party moves out to the designated inn to get a room and wait. A storm hits and swallows the town in snow when Aldo (Reynaud’s Paxman) shows up to ready the gang for transfer. After arranging some extra trips, they are ready to go and Aldo opens a portal “somewhere”.
They arrive “somewhere” and the Forbidden Circle meet them and the gang discusses their purpose on Darkover. The Forbidden Circle agrees to help as best they can, but they make no promises and tell Boomer if this goes wrong, they will have to kill Haruhi – if they can. Preperations are made, and Alan and Martin take the Artifact into a distant part of the castle, away from everyone else. Devon and Tralfaz move the Low Berth into the center of the Circle, and everyone who has a psychic talent gathers around the center. With solem understanding, they start. Cheri pulls forth all the energy streams into one band and works on creating what they need when Devon notices Haruhi’s eyes fly open and change tone. She shouts out a warning as the streams converge about the Circle and Ken attempts to Shield everyone as best he can. A black stream rises out of Haruhi and starts bashing it’s way about the Circle, taking out Kasa, Dio, and Dee after a long duel, also damaging Cheri and Boomer. Both survive, and Cheri finishes crafting a crystal into which Ken summons on his Matrix strength to force the black stream into it. Then Lew manages to draps a swatch of Psi-Inhibiting cloth over it and tie it up, whereas Cheri offers to keep the crystal hidden away deep in a vault up in the mountains of their world in a monastery called Nevarsin. Boomer agrees and everyone rests and recovers, while The Four take Haruhi to their bedroom and put her in bed. The Scientists want to talk with The Forbidden Circle, but Reynaud asks for a couple of days to rest. Aldo opens a portal to The Lovely Angel so the Scientists can put the Artifact there, and then they return. After a day or two, they meet with The Forbidden Circle and talk with them. All apparently goes well, because no one kills them, and after Boomer arranges to have the Cutter return to them Aldo opens a portal back to the Cutter. Tralfaz and Devon move the Low Berth back onto the Cutter, and everyone joins them. Aldo leaves, and they prepare to head for home. Back on the ship, The Four put Haruhi back into bed. She weakly calls for Boomer to come close to her, and tells him thank you before passing out.
The trip back to Glisten is eventful, dealing with the Artifact along the way. Haruhi rests and recovers, while The Four flit about, tending to every need on the ship. They arrive at Glisten, and encounter an Inquisition ship plus the Fleet, but they manage to slip past them both and head home. The Scientists take the Artifact and drop themselves off at Glisten, The Four catch a ride back to the Academy while Boomer and the rest go home to Planetoid Wolverine.
Time passes and Boomer goes to visit the Planetoid’s Bridge and check out his powers. They take an Air-Raft out to it, and enter with little difficulty. Boomer sits in the Captain’s Chair and “connects” to the Ship. The Ship “teaches” him how to control different functions, and in the end downloads a mass of training on “understanding Ancient” into his noggin. Devon helps him back out to the Air-Raft and they manage to return to the Compound, where Devon examines him.
A while passes, and Dee wants to go to Glisten for “a get-away” and have some fun. Boomer arranges for some time at the TAS and they fly on over and settle in. They go down to the Casino, and win in a big way, and meet Domo working the evening dinner. He thanks Boomer for all he’s done and for helping Dara, as well as the rest, and he arranges for them all to have dinner. He invites Dara and her new “boyfriend” to come to dinner with them. Dara shows up with her “boyfriend”, who turns out to be Haruhi, and hilarity ensues. Boomer tries his best not to spill the beans about the two.
MEANWHILE, A FEW MONTHS AGO – - -
205-211 Bull does some research into the factions of the Rebellion, and how the leaders of said such are reacting. He decides on meeting and backing Lady Margaret, with his contacts and influence. Sam announces she is going with him, so he sets out outfitting the BA for them both, collects supplies including his Battle Dress, and prepares to leave.
Straight off the bat, a Cybot ship follows them into the nether and attempts to travel along with them during the x-jump. Bull manages to dodge them and escape. They pop out at Nexine, a water-world the Imperium is using for cross-breeding Humanoids for further seeding in the far reaches.
Refuel at an Imperial Scout base, and jump on.
Refuel at the Starport, then jump on.
Refuel at the Starport, then jump on.
Pop out at a distant iceball of a planet and encounter a Varger Corsair. They have a brief fight, and Bull has to repel the Corsairs attempt to board the BA. In the end, one of the BA ebgines is damaged, but the BA moves off and jumps on.
They pop into Vland and have the BA repaired at the Starport. Bull and Sam stay at the TAS while they wait, and have a night on the town. When all is said and done, they leave and jump on.
Refuel at the Starport, then jump on.
The BA comes out in a rural part of the Imperium with no established Starport. Bull has to skimm a Gas Giant for fuel before they can move on.
Eventually they arrive at the heart of the Imperium. Bull and Sam visit the planet quickly, but decide not to waste time there because it belongs to Lucan’s Faction, and is unfriendly to Bull’s opinions.
Refuel at the Starport, them jump on.
After 10 weeks of traveling, the BA arrives at the heart of the Delphi Sector, where Lady Margaret leads her faction. All along, news of the Rebellion has been on every channel, and making the news every evening shift. Sam whips out her Admin and Social skills, and tries to arrange an audience with her Ladyship, but fails miserably. Finally, she calls on her Fate as Mr. Kelzar’s Secretary and arranges one for them. They set up a meeting with her and her husband at a local restaurant.
Bull and Sam meet the Lady Margaret and her husband, Count Tukera of Tukera Lines, and have dinner. They talk about the Assassination, and the Rebellion, and how Bull can help. Bull learns a lot about Lady Margaret and decides he was correct in choosing to back her and offers his help in any fashion. Count Tukera discusses how things are going out on the frontier, and they discuss the X-Drive. He offers up his research department to look over Bull’s X-Drive and maybe make some modifications to it. Bull agrees, and moves the ship over to Tukera Lines Starport so they can crawl over it.
The day arrives when the Count’s people claim they are done with Bull’s engine, and now it can be called an “Extra Jump” drive. Bull thanks them and finalizes his plans with the Count before he makes basic plans for the return trip home.

Finally, after only 5 weeks this time, the duo return home and dock on Planetoid Wolverine. Bull meets up with Boomer and gets exchanges tales and meets Rabbit. He also hears about The Family’s antics concerning The Girls.
BACK ON GLISTEN . . .
289-295 Studd contacts Boomer and explains to him he has located and possibly hired a new recruit to fill in some of the empty spaces on the team. He tells Boomer to meet the new recruit at the TAS restaurant and check him out before making it official. Boomer and Dee head off to Glisten, and they settle into the TAS and go down to meet the new recruit. There they meet Daryl “Rabbit” Habersham and talk to him. While discussing the contract and working needs of S&S Salvage, a TV new report flashes across the screen telling of a “sniper attack at the college campus of GINA” involving a live video of Haruhi talking about the attack. Boomer is horrified to learn Dara was shot, taking the bullet for Yuri, and Haruhi “solved” the issue. Boomer, Dee and Rabbit head off to the dorm room and talk with The Girls. They tell them what all happened, and Boomer decides to head off to the campus hospital to check on Dara. He also worries about Haruhi’s method of handling the assassin, and whether or not anyone else will figure out her skills.
At the hospital. Rabbit notices another suspicious figure. He and Boomer capture the guy and haul him off into an empty room nearby. Boomer interrogates him while Rabbit nearly fries him with a defibrillator. They discover he is a 2nd assassin sent by The Family to finish off the job the first one botched. The duo leave him bound and gagged, and sic the authorities on him.
Boomer has Rabbit take the Air-Raft back to campus to check up on the remains of the first assassin while he stays near Dara’s room and talks with Domo. Boomer thinks over The Family and how they are connected to his family, or S&S Salvage, whichever – and he contacts Heavy Duty, Live Wire and Rachet and tells them to bring Tralfaz and come to the hospital for security duty. He realizes The Family may not stop until they feel they have accomplished their mission, and he is concerned. He arranges room and board at the TAS for them, and he sets up his plans with Domo and the hospital staff and set’s everything up. The Girls show up to visit Dara, and then the Glisten authorities, then the Mercs, with Tralfaz. Boomer gather everyone in one spot and details out how the plan will go down the all. He, Dee and Rabbit go back to the ship and dock it, spending enough cred to leave it for a week at the starport. Then they settle their businesses and prepare for a long stay. Boomer goes to have a talk with Haruhi, and explains to her the possible danger she is leaving herself open to. Then he returns to the ship where Dee and Rabbit are.
296-330 Dee, Boomer and Rabbit continue to “live” on Glisten, keeping a watchful eye over The Girls and spending off again-on again time in the TAS. Finally, Devon arrives to visit them with Zara in tow. Boomer does some investigating on his own about The Family, and comes up with some interesting names. It seems The Family is made up of three powerful crime syndicates, each with a different leader and a different specialty. Lady Wiseman is the prime toughie, and she covers gambling and casino machines on Glisten. Lord Ziegman is the meanest toughie, and he covers weapons and military contracts on Glisten. Lord Miller is the sneakiest toughie, and covers rent dodging and building contract loopholes on Glisten. Boomer meets up with Sgt. Dolittle, the detective working Dara’s case, and talks with him.
331-348 In between conversations, Boomer teaches Demo 101 to the remaining Girls, showing them how car bombs can be placed and what systems are important to a vehicle. They use Yuri’s Air-Raft as an example.
349-350 Slaughter returns to Glisten and immediately contacts Boomer. They talk and exchange reports about what each has been doing. Dee, Rabbit, Boomer, Devon and Zara sit at the TAS and talk with Slaughter. Then they all go back to Wolverine and discuss more important things. There they see a news flash that Sgt. Dolittle’s car was bombed, but he survived. His partner was killed however. Boomer receives an email listing names and connections to some dirty cops. Lt. Gibson, Lt. Pratt, and Private Reed are the names mentioned. Boomer has the Merc, Breaker, do some computer searching (hacking) to narrow info on them, and he find out a lot. He finds out these three are dirty, and most likely in the employ of Lady Wiseman. They also are working with Sgt. Dolittle on the case. He finds pictures of all three, along with a report/address for them.
351-358 Days pass, and Boomer and Dee decide to go to the Bridge. They pick up Devon on the way and arrive at the Bridge. They enter, and Boomer talks to the Bridge, asking tons of questions. The Bridge answers him and does a full download into his brain of the ship schematics. Boomer manages to survive, with Devon’s help, and contacts Slaughter convincing him to come to the Bridge. Slaughter does, and Boomer has the Bridge repeat the same download of information into his noggin. Slaughter survives and him and Boomer discuss where to go next.
They go to another “main base” and enter it. Down they go, and Boomer requests the ship’s AI deactivate any and all defenses there. Slaughter asks the ship what happened to the crew, and the ship reveals all to him. (The ship ran afoul of another “Ancients enemy” race that used an “Ancients weapon” on the ship, which disintegrated the crew.) They explore some more, and find a vault with, among other things, old cred sticks and crystals. They also find a “map box” in another room, so they haul in the crystals, read them, and find some deposits of Lanthium (extremely rare and precious) on certain planets in the Rhylanor sub-sector. They return home.
The Four show up for the Holidays, with Princess in tow. They all meet up with Boomer and Dee and settle in for a visit. Boomer talks with Dara about what the others would like for the Holidays, and get’s a good idea about what they want. Yuri, a medic kit – Haruhi, a desktop computer – Keiko, a flatscreen TV – Elaine, scuba gear. He then talks to Keiko about Dara, and learns she would like a microwave. Boomer get’s on the web and starts shopping.
359-365 The Four, plus one, are enjoying their holiday stay at the Eagle’s Nest. Boomer accidentally let’s slip that Keiko’s brother is Krash, from Imperia. Elaina goes off and bitches at the Four, plus anyone else in the line of fire, for not telling her. They discuss it back and forth for a bit. Delivery shuttles fly to the Planetoid from Glisten constantly, delivering all manner of wrapped holiday gifts. They are all stored in a room for the day.
